In recent years, 3D printing has been used to support surgical planning or to guide intraoperative procedures in various surgical specialties. An improvement in surgical planning for recto-sigmoid endometriosis (RSE) excision might reduce the high complication rate related to this challenging surgery. The aim of this study was to build novel presurgical 3D models of RSE nodules from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and compare them with intraoperative findings.

Background: A better endometrial cancer (EC) prognosis in patients with coexistent adenomyosis has been hypothesized based on a different prevalence of favorable EC histological prognostic factors. However, pooled risk of EC unfavorable histological prognostic factors in patients with adenomyosis has never been calculated.
Objectives: We aimed to assess the risk of EC unfavorable histological prognostic factors in patients with adenomyosis.

Objective: To study the economic impact of ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation (OTC) in post-pubertal patients who underwent high-risk gonadotoxic chemotherapy.
Methods: A decision tree model was used to determine the live birth rate and cost-effectiveness of OTC versus non-OTC. The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) was calculated.

Background: In the last years, mutations in the exon 3 of CTNNB1 have emerged as a possible prognostic factor for recurrence in early stage endometrioid endometrial carcinoma, especially in cases with no specific molecular profile (NSMP).
Objective: To define the prognostic value of CTNNB1 mutations in early stage endometrioid endometrial carcinoma, through a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Methods: Electronic databases were searched from their inception to November 2020 for all studies assessing the prognostic value of CTNNB1 mutation in early stage (FIGO I-II) endometrioid endometrial carcinoma.

To evaluate the potential variability of Manganese (Mn) in commercial pineapple juice (PJ) produced in different years and to identify the optimal Mn concentration in the correct amount of PJ to be administered prior to Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) in order to suppress the gastroduodenal (GD) liquid signal. The Mn concentration in PJ produced in different years was defined using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. The optimal Mn concentration and the amount of PJ, were estimated in an in-vitro analysis, and were then prospectively tested in a population of patients who underwent MRCP.

Objective: To assess the association between sonographic findings at transperineal ultrasound (TPU) and chronic constipation (CC) in women with endometriosis.
Methods: An observational prospective cohort study was performed by enrolling all women with endometriosis scheduled for surgery between September 2019 and October 2020. Women underwent TPU at rest and during Valsalva maneuver evaluating levator-hiatal-area (LHA), antero-posterior diameter (APD), and levator ani muscle (LAM) coactivation.

We report the case of an 83-year-old woman treated with a "rescue" valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve implantation because of an early basal ring partial collapse of a sutureless valve, probably due to septal hypertrophy.

Genetic testing for pathogenic variants is usually undertaken to investigate the cause of persistent hematuria, especially with a family history of hematuria or kidney function impairment. Alport syndrome experts now advocate genetic testing for persistent hematuria, even when a heterozygous pathogenic or is suspected, and cascade testing of their first-degree family members because of their risk of impaired kidney function. The experts recommend too that or heterozygotes do not act as kidney donors.

Objective: Atypical polypoid adenomyoma (APA) is a rare uterine premalignant lesion mainly occurring in premenopausal and nulliparous women. Although hysteroscopic resection (HR) has showed promising results, the conservative management of APA in young women is not standardized, and few data are available in the literature. We aimed to assess oncologic outcomes of the conservative treatment of APA.

Background: We investigated the clinical outcomes after cardiac valvular surgery procedures concomitant (CCPs) with left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation compared to propensity score (PS) matched controls using the European Registry for Patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support (EUROMACS) data.
Methods: Between 2006 and 2018, 2760 continuous-flow LVAD patients were identified. Of these, 533 underwent a CCP during the LVAD implant.

Methods: Four electronic databases were searched from January 2000 to October 2020.

In the last 20 years, mechanical circulatory supports (MCS) have overturned completely the outcomes and the clinical recovery of patients with isolated acute left ventricle failure (iALVF). This usually occurs more frequently than right-sided heart failure or biventricular dysfunction, and it mainly is caused by acute myocardial infarction. The primary role of MCS is to restore the tissue metabolism to preserve the vital organs' function but, on the other hand, they also have to relieve the workload stress on the heart.

Bi-allelic alterations in the MDH2 gene have recently been reported in three unrelated toddlers with early-onset severe encephalopathy. Here, we describe a new case of a child carrying novel variants in MDH2. This child presented with early-onset encephalocardiopathy requiring heart transplant and showed cerebellar ataxia and drug-responsive epilepsy; his family history was significant for multiple cancers, a feature often associated with monoallelic variants in MDH2.

Background: A substantial increase in amoxicillin-induced crystal nephropathy was recently reported in France. Our study aims to further characterize this safety issue from a worldwide perspective.
Methods: We queried both the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) and the Eudravigilance databases, and performed disproportionality analysis, selecting only adverse events (AEs) related to crystal nephropathy where amoxicillin or amoxicillin/clavulanic acid were reported as suspect.

Purpose: The role of liver stiffness (LS) on ultrasound elastography in the prediction of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence after treatment with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is still unclear. Our aim was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess whether LS can predict the recurrence of HCC after RFA.

Leiomyoma with bizarre nuclei (LBN) is a variant of uterine leiomyoma, which has replaced the previous category of "atypical leiomyoma" and must be distinguished from smooth muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP). However, previously published series of "atypical leiomyoma" might have included both LBN and STUMP, due to the lack of strict diagnostic criteria. Based on such hypothesis, we aimed to define the risk of recurrence in LBN.

IgG4-related aortitis is an inflammatory condition of the aorta, characterized by aortic wall thickening and periaortic soft-tissue involvement. Therefore, this condition can mimic an aortic intramural hematoma (IMH), due to similar radiological findings. We hereby report the case of an IgG4-related aortitis misdiagnosed as an IMH, associated with cerebral hemorrhage, possibly due to cerebral vascular system involvement.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) is the agent of one of the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infections worldwide. The possible development of 'untreatable' infections points out the need for antibiotic-sparing methods to reduce the number of gonococcal infections. In this context, fatty acids are interesting candidates as next-generation antibacterial agents.

A better endometrial cancer (EC) prognosis in patients with coexistent adenomyosis has been reported. Unfortunately, it is still unclear if this better prognosis is related to a more favorable clinical profile of adenomyosis patients. We aimed to evaluate differences in the clinical profiles of EC patients with and without adenomyosis.
