Analysis of Risk Factors and the Establishment of a Predictive Model for Thrombosis in Patients with Immune Thrombocytopenia.

Objectives: To explore the risk factors for thrombi occurring in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and establish a risk prediction model to better predict the risk of thrombosis in patients with ITP.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 350 ITP patients who had been hospitalized in the First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province between January 2024 and June 2024. For all patients, we recorded demographic characteristics and clinical data, analyzed the risk factors for thrombosis in ITP patients and then developed a risk prediction model.

Prospective Study of lncRNA NORAD for Predicting Cerebrovascular Events in Asymptomatic Patients with Carotid Artery Stenosis.

Background: Carotid artery stenosis (CAS) may cause many cerebrovascular diseases, and a biomarker for screening and monitoring is needed. This study focused on the clinical significance of long-chain non-coding RNA (lncRNA) non-coding RNA activated by DNA damage (NORAD) in patients with CAS and aimed to search for potential biomarkers of CAS.

Methods: Eighty-six asymptomatic patients with CAS and 60 healthy individuals were enrolled, with corresponding clinical data and serum samples collected.

Objectives: Wilson disease (WD) is an autosomal-recessive disorder that disrupts copper homeostasis. ATPase copper transporting beta (ATP7B) gene is implicated as the disease-causing gene in WD. The common symptoms associated with WD include hepatic, neurological, psychiatric, and ophthalmic manifestations.

A Maternal Loss-of-Function Variant in KHDC3L Gene Causes a Range of Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes: A Case Report.

Background: The KHDC3L gene encodes a component of the subcortical maternal complex (SCMC). Biallelic mutations in this gene cause 5%-10% of biparental hydatidiform moles (BiHM), and a few maternal deletions in KHDC3L have been identified in women with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL).

Method: In this study, we had a patient with a history of 10 pregnancy or neonatal losses, including spontaneous abortions, neonatal deaths, and molar pregnancy.

Objective: Prior work has documented inequities in disordered eating behavior (DEB) prevalence across gender identity, race, and ethnicity, yet has often ignored the fact that individuals belong to multiple social groups simultaneously. The present study assessed DEB inequities at the intersection of gender identity and race/ethnicity.

Method: The sample included n = 10,287 adolescents (68% gender-diverse, 33% belonging to marginalized racial/ethnic groups).

Methods: We performed a retrospective study of pregnant patients with CHD enrolled in the STORCC initiative.

Introduction: In 2010, China launched the 10-year National Syphilis Prevention and Control Program to curb the spread of syphilis by integrating syphilis screening and treatment with HIV services. Herein, we aimed to evaluate changes in the prevalence of syphilis among people living with HIV (PLHIV) in China.

Methods: We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis by searching the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, China Biomedical Literature, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang and CQVIP databases from inception to 1 June 2024 to obtain relevant articles.

MultiSpace Deep Fascial Infection in the Head and Neck Patient Complicated with Guillain-Barre Syndrome: Case Report with a Literature Review.

Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is the most prevalent and severe form of acute paralytic neuropathy, commonly triggered by infections and characterized by an abnormal autoimmune response. Reports of multispace deep fascial infection (DFI) in the head and neck complicated by GBS are exceedingly rare. We report a 69-year-old woman with DFI who developed postoperative limbs weakness.

Comparison of different pain management strategies during the perioperative period of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a retrospective cohort study.

Objective: This retrospective cohort study aims to evaluate and compare different postoperative pain management strategies for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), in order to provide scientific evidence for clinical practice and decision-making.

Methods: A total of 274 ESCC patients who underwent surgery at the Affiliated Huai'an No. 1 People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University were included in the study.

Impact of cardiac factors on central airway anatomical parameters in patients undergoing lung mass surgery.

Background: The correlation between central airway anatomical parameters and demographic factors, such as sex, age, weight, height, body mass index (BMI), and cardiac factors, remains unclear. This study examined the correlation between these factors and central airway anatomical parameters in adult patients.

Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent lung mass surgery at our hospital between December 2020 and December 2023 were included in this study.

Sexual Health Advocacy for Guys (SHAG): a randomized trial of the impact of a text-messaging program on HIV incidence and STI testing among a national sample of sexual minority cisgender adolescent and young adult men.

Background: Disparities in sexually transmitted infections (STI) including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) among sexual minority boys and young men are substantial. Effective HIV and STI prevention programs that include access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication do not consistently include younger sexual minority men. Text-messaging programs for HIV prevention have been associated with increases in HIV testing among sexual minority adolescent boys, but these programs have not incorporated a focus on PrEP or STIs beyond HIV.

Overground robotic exoskeleton vs conventional therapy in inpatient stroke rehabilitation: results from a pragmatic, multicentre implementation programme.

Background: Despite the reported efficacy of overground robotic exoskeleton (ORE) for rehabilitation of mobility post-stroke, its effectiveness in real-world practice is still debated. We analysed prospectively collected data from Improving Mobility Via Exoskeleton (IMOVE), a multicentre clinical implementation programme of ORE enrolling participants with various neurological conditions and were given options to choose between 12 sessions of ORE or conventional therapy (control).

Methods: This is analysis of participants under IMOVE who fulfilled the following criteria (i) primary diagnosis was stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic; first or recurrent), (ii) onset of stroke was within 9 months and (iii) the intervention was during inpatient stay.

Background: Involving parents in decisions about the care of their infant is common practice in most neonatal intensive care units. However, involvement is less common in neonatal research and a gap appears to exist in understanding the process of patient and public involvement. The aim of this study was to explore parents and researchers' experiences of patient and public involvement in a neonatal research project.

How to monitor and discriminate the causes of lower limb swelling during home-based rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty? A delphi study.

Purpose: Swelling in the lower limbs after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) affects surgical outcomes. Prolonged swelling requires monitoring and remote management during home-based rehabilitation. Causes of swelling vary but, so far, no indicators are available to monitor and identify causes of lower limb swelling, making it difficult to implement targeted interventions.
