Abstract: , an ESKAPE pathogen causes many fatal clinical diseases in humans across the globe. Despite an increase in clinical instances of Pseudomonas infection, there is currently no effective vaccine or treatment available. The major membrane protein candidate of the bacterial cell is known to be a critical component for cellular bacterial susceptibility to antimicrobial peptides and survival inside the host organisms.

Background: Expanded-spectrum quinolones (ciprofloxacin) are highly effective against gram-negative bacteria, but significant resistance to quinolones has been increasingly reported. We sought to evaluate the prevalence of gram-negative ciprofloxacin-resistant isolates (CRIs) from our hospital and their mechanism of action.
Methods: Gram-negative CRIs were identified as per standard procedures and confirmed using the Ezy MICTM Strip (HiMedia).

Cogan's syndrome (CS) is a rare autoimmune vasculitis of unknown aetiology characterised by non-syphilitic interstitial keratitis, audiovestibular symptoms, sometimes systemic symptoms, and multi-organ involvement. Atypical CS has other ocular features, such as scleritis, episcelritis, retinitis, and optic neuritis. Diagnosis of CS is purely clinical without a confirmatory test.

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease today, and it has now emerged as the leading etiology of end-stage liver disease requiring liver transplantation. It is a progressive form of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease which can not only progress to cirrhosis of liver and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but is associated with increased cardiovascular risks too. Despite all the advances in the understanding of the risk factors and the pathogenetic pathways involved in the pathogenesis and progression of NASH, an effective therapy for NASH has not been developed yet.

Context: Establishing the etiology of thyrotoxicosis is of utmost importance to plan the appropriate line of therapy. However, certain scenarios such as absence of pathognomonic clinical features of Graves' disease in some patients, or non-availability of radionuclide scanning and newer generation TRAb assays especially in resource-poor settings, necessitates utilization of other, simple and effective measures to differentiate between the two common causes of thyrotoxicosis, Graves' disease (GD) and Destructive thyroiditis (DT).
Aims: The aim of this work was to study the role of FT3/FT4 ratio, T3/T4 ratio and color flow Doppler ultrasound in treatment-naïve patients with thyrotoxicosis, in comparison to Tc-99m pertechnetate thyroid scanning in the differentiation of thyrotoxicosis due to GD and DT.

Background And Aim: Neonatal diabetes mellitus (NDM) is a rare monogenic disorder of pancreatic beta cell mass and/or function. In the present study we aimed to evaluate the INS gene mutations in a cohort of children with Permanent Neonatal Diabetes Mellitus (PNDM) and to explore the clinical and genetic characteristics of PNDM caused by INS mutations.
Methods: Direct sequencing of all exons of INS genes was carried out in 189 children with PNDM.

Chronic low back pain (LBP) is the most common musculoskeletal condition affecting a person's quality of life. Over the past decades, a lot of work was done in an attempt to reduce the negative impact of LBP, and help patients recover and maintain a better quality of life. Nevertheless, there is still a lot to be done to fully understand the problem of underlying chronic LBP and a wide gap that exist between basic science and applied rehabilitation research on LBP.

Renal dysfunction is very common among patients with chronic liver disease, and concomitant liver disease can occur among patients with chronic kidney disease. The spectrum of clinical presentation and underlying etiology is wide when concomitant kidney and liver disease occur in the same patient. Management of these patients with dual onslaught is challenging and requires a team approach of hepatologists and nephrologists.

The treatment of Colles fracture can deform the wrist. Some studies claim the resulting deformity rarely hinders daily activities, whereas others report the opposite; thus, anatomical reduction is desirable. Our objective was to analyze the anatomical and functional results of Colles fracture to find out the values of individual parameters corresponding to the best functional outcome.

Liver dysfunction manifesting as elevated aminotransferase levels has been a common feature of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection. The mechanism of liver injury in COVID-19 infection is unclear. However, it has been hypothesized to be a result of direct cytopathic effects of the virus, immune dysfunction and cytokine storm-related multiorgan damage, hypoxia-reperfusion injury and idiosyncratic drug-induced liver injury due to medications used in the management of COVID-19.

With the advancement of endovascular techniques, the microsurgery for posterior circulation aneurysms has been pushed back a little. Even the International Subarachnoid Aneurysmal Trial gave support to the concepts of endovascular procedures, but microsurgical modality should not be discouraged.
