This prediction evaluates the different physical characteristics of magnetic materials XFeO (X = Mg, Ca and Sr) by using density functional theory (DFT). The generalized gradient approximation (GGA) approach is chosen to define the exchange and correlation potential. The structural study of the compounds XFeO (X = Mg, Ca and Sr) shows that the ferromagnetic phase is the more stable ground state, where all the parameters of the network are given at equilibrium.

The alarming rise in environmental pollution, depletion of global resources, and increasing health consciousness have placed significant pressure on the development of eco-friendly, sustainable materials. Consequently, green, environmentally friendly materials made from biobased and/or biodegradable sources are gaining recognition and political support as sustainable alternatives to petroleum-based, non-biodegradable materials. Bio-based packaging materials, in particular, are widely used across all industrial sectors, with a growing demand for solutions that preserve food quality and extend shelf life.

Power control of an autonomous wind energy conversion system based on a permanent magnet synchronous generator with integrated pumping storage.

Sci Rep

November 2024

Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Diagnostics of Electrical Equipment, Institute of Electrodynamics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Beresteyskiy, 56, Kyiv-57, Kyiv, 03680, Ukraine.

Wind energy plays a crucial role as a renewable source for electricity generation, especially in remote or isolated regions without access to the main power grid. The intermittent characteristics of wind energy make it essential to incorporate energy storage solutions to guarantee a consistent power supply. This study introduces the design, modeling, and control mechanisms of a self-sufficient wind energy conversion system (WECS) that utilizes a Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) in conjunction with a Water pumping storage station (WPS).

Electron Localization Function for Noncollinear Spins.

Phys Rev Lett

September 2024

Istituto Nanoscienze, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Via Campi 213A, I-41125 Modena, Italy.

Article Synopsis
  • - Understanding bonding is crucial for predicting how materials behave, and the electron localization function (ELF) is a key tool for identifying bonds and atomic structures.
  • - The ELF struggles with more complex states beyond simple nonrelativistic scenarios, particularly for open-shell solutions that require attention to specific gauge invariances.
  • - An extended version of ELF can enhance the analysis of both complicated and simpler systems by considering both U(1) and SU(2) gauge invariances together.

Fault detection, classification, and location prediction are crucial for maintaining the stability and reliability of modern power systems, reducing economic losses, and enhancing system protection sensitivity. This paper presents a novel Hierarchical Deep Learning Approach (HDLA) for accurate and efficient fault diagnosis in transmission lines. HDLA leverages two-stage transformer-based classification and regression models to perform Fault Detection (FD), Fault Type Classification (FTC), and Fault Location Prediction (FLP) directly from synchronized raw three-phase current and voltage samples.

  • Drought stress significantly affects wheat crops worldwide, and using plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) shows promise in helping mitigate these effects and boost plant growth.
  • Researchers evaluated 24 different bacterial strains for their resistance to various abiotic stresses and selected four—ME1, Pa, MR6, and sp D13—for their effectiveness.
  • In experiments, inoculating wheat seeds with these bacteria improved germination rates and overall plant growth under drought conditions, suggesting that these bacteria enhance resilience to water stress by improving key growth parameters and reducing harmful effects like lipid peroxidation.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by represent a significant public health concern due to the high virulence and antimicrobial resistance exhibited by these pathogens. This study aimed to analyze the phylogenetic diversity and antibiotic resistance profiles of Uropathogenic (UPEC) strains isolated from UTI patients in Algeria, focusing on virulence factors such as extended β-lactamase (ESBL) production, biofilm formation, and hemolytic activity. Phylogenetic grouping of 86 clinical imipenem resistant isolates showed the prevalence of group B2 (48.

In developing countries, orphan legumes stand at the forefront in the struggle against climate change. Their high nutrient value is crucial in malnutrition and chronic diseases prevention. However, as the 'orphan' definition suggests, their seed systems are still underestimated and seed production is scanty.

In external radiotherapy, dose boluses and compensators are used for treatment of irregular facial topography surfaces. In such cases, skewed isodose curves need to be addressed using a bolus that gives the deep dose distribution a shape adapted to the anatomical structures to be protected or irradiated. The combination of 3D modeling and printing technologies is a promising alternative to the conventional inaccurate and uncomfortable bolus fabrication technique.

  • Primary diabetes care and diabetic retinopathy (DR) screening face challenges due to a lack of trained primary care physicians, especially in low-resource areas.
  • The integrated image-language system, DeepDR-LLM, combines a language model and deep learning to help PCPs provide tailored diabetes management recommendations, showing comparable or better accuracy than PCPs in diagnosing DR.
  • In a study, patients assisted by DeepDR-LLM demonstrated improved self-management and adherence to referral recommendations, indicating that the system enhances both care quality and patient outcomes.

In the present work, we report on theoretical studies of thermodynamic properties, structural and dynamic stabilities, dependence of unit-cell parameters and elastic constants upon hydrostatic pressure, charge carrier effective masses, electronic and optical properties, contributions of interband transitions in the Brillouin zone of the novel TlHgGeSe crystal. The theoretical calculations within the framework of the density-functional perturbation theory (DFPT) are carried out employing different approaches to gain the best correspondence to the experimental data. The present theoretical data indicate the dynamical stability of the title crystal and they reveal that, under hydrostatic pressure, it is much more compressible along the a-axis than along the c-axis.

Conductive polymers, such as polyaniline (PANI), have interesting applications, ranging from flexible electronics, energy storage devices, sensors, antistatic or anticorrosion coatings, etc. However, the full exploitation of conductive polymers still poses a challenge due to their low processability. The use of compatible stabilizers to obtain dispersible and stable colloids is among the possible solutions to overcome such drawbacks.
