Stereotactic body radiation therapy is beneficial for a subgroup of patients with urothelial cancer and solitary metastatic disease: a single institution real-world experience.

Background: Standard treatment options for patients with metastatic urothelial cancer (mUC) include systemic platinum-based chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antibody-drug-conjugates, and targeted therapy. Oligometastatic disease (OMD) may be an intermediate state between localized and generalized cancer. The best treatment strategy for OMD and oligoprogressive (OPD) disease is poorly studied in mUC but local stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) could be an option to avoid or delay systemic treatment.

Association of postsystolic shortening on stress echocardiography and significant coronary artery stenosis: A single-centre retrospective cohort study.

Background: Postsystolic shortening (PSS) is one of the proposed quantitative measures to predict myocardial ischaemia in the stress echocardiographic (SE) evaluation. It is previously known that hypo-/akinesia (HA) correlates well with coronary stenosis. However, some patients undergoing SE only present with PSS, and their risk of significant coronary stenosis is less clear.

Introduction: Brain calcifications are frequent findings on imaging. In a small proportion of cases, these calcifications are associated with pathogenic gene variants, hence termed primary familial brain calcification (PFBC). The clinical penetrance is incomplete and phenotypic variability is substantial.

Pelvic floor reconstruction using a musculocutaneous flap offers optimized healing abilities and the possibility of vaginal reconstruction. In Skåne University Hospital, two different flap techniques are used to reconstruct the perineum: the vertical rectus abdominis musculocutaneous flap and the gluteus maximus (GM) flap.

Metastasis and recurrence patterns in the molecular subtypes of urothelial bladder cancer.

Urothelial cancer of the urinary bladder frequently metastasizes to lymph-nodes, lungs, liver and bone. A taxonomy for molecular classification exists, but it is unknown if molecular subtypes show tropism for different organs. Here, we study 146 patients with de novo metastatic disease or recurrence after curative treatment.

Prostate Cancer IRE Study (PRIS): A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Focal Therapy to Radical Treatment in Localized Prostate Cancer.

The aim of focal treatments (FTs) in prostate cancer (PCa) is to treat lesions while preserving surrounding benign tissue and anatomic structures. Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is a nonthermal technique that uses high-voltage electric pulses to increase membrane permeability and induce membrane disruption in cells, which potentially causes less damage to the surrounding tissue in comparison to other ablative techniques. We summarize the study protocol for the Prostate Cancer IRE Study (PRIS), which involves two parallel randomized controlled trials comparing IRE with (1) robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) or (2) radiotherapy in men with newly diagnosed intermediate-risk PCa (NCT05513443).

Implications for downstream workload based on calibrating an artificial intelligence detection algorithm by standalone-reader or combined-reader sensitivity matching.

Purpose: In double-reading of screening mammograms, artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms hold promise as a potential replacement for one of the two readers. The choice of operating point, or abnormality threshold, for the AI algorithm will affect cancer detection and workload. In our retrospective study, the baseline approach was based on matching stand-alone reader sensitivity, while the alternative approach was based on matching the combined-reader sensitivity of two humans and of AI plus human.

Body weight at age 20 and in midlife is more important than weight gain for coronary atherosclerosis: Results from SCAPIS.

Background And Aims: Elevated body weight in adolescence is associated with early cardiovascular disease, but whether this association is traceable to weight in early adulthood, weight in midlife or to weight gain is not known. The aim of this study is to assess the risk of midlife coronary atherosclerosis being associated with body weight at age 20, body weight in midlife and body weight change.

Objective: To evaluate interobserver agreement for the assessment of local tumor extension in women with cervical cancer, among experienced and less experienced observers, using transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: The TVS observers were all gynecologists and consultant ultrasound specialists, six with and seven without previous experience in cervical cancer imaging. The MRI observers were five radiologists experienced in pelvic MRI and four less experienced radiology residents without previous experience in MRI of the pelvis.

In PPC, a new part of the National Prostate Cancer Register of Sweden data on start and stop of treatments, imaging, prostate specific antigen, clinical assessment of progression and patient reported outcome measures (PROM) are registered from initiation of hormonal treatment.

Underexpansion of transcatheter heart valves and the surgically implanted Perceval sutureless aortic valve bioprosthesis has been suggested as an underlying mechanism for hypo-attenuated leaflet thickening (HALT). This was a single-center prospective observational study that included 47 patients who underwent surgical aortic valve replacement with the Perceval sutureless bioprosthesis (LivaNova, London, United Kingdom) from 2012 to 2016 and were studied by four-dimensional cardiac computed tomography (CT). The association between overall and regional expansion and the prevalence of HALT was analyzed.

Purpose: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) can be surgically treated, with variable outcome. Studies have linked socioeconomic factors to outcome, but no nation-wide studies have been performed. This register-based study, including all patients surgically treated for LSS during 2008-2012 in Sweden, aimed to determine predictive factors for the outcome of surgery.

Adding 3D automated breast ultrasound to mammography screening in women with heterogeneously and extremely dense breasts: Report from a hospital-based, high-volume, single-center breast cancer screening program.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the 3D automated breast ultrasound (3D ABUS) when added to full field digital screening mammography (FFDSM), on breast cancer detection and recall rates in asymptomatic women with dense breasts examined in a high-volume breast cancer screening mammography center.

Methods And Material: 1668 asymptomatic women, age 40-74 years, with heterogeneously dense parenchyma (ACR3) or extremely dense breast (ACR4) were included in the study. FFDSM was performed using standard craniocaudal (CC) and mediolateral oblique (MLO) views followed by anteroposterior (AP); lateral (LAT) and medial (MED) acquisitions of 3D ABUS in both breasts.
