Objective: This study aimed to investigate the immediate and long-term outcomes of the Cox-Maze IV procedure in patients undergoing surgical treatment for multivalvular heart disease with atrial fibrillation. It also sought to identify predictors of atrial fibrillation recurrence in the long-term period.
Materials And Methods: We conducted an analysis of 92 patients who underwent multivalvular heart defect correction and simultaneous Cox-Maze IV procedure between 2017 and 2023.

The Banff classification is useful for diagnosing renal transplant rejection. However, it has limitations due to subjectivity and varying concordance in physicians' assessments. Artificial intelligence (AI) can help standardize research, increase objectivity and accurately quantify morphological characteristics, improving reproducibility in clinical practice.

Background: Lumbar foraminal stenosis (LFS) involves the narrowing of neural foramina, leading to nerve compression, significant lower back pain and radiculopathy, particularly in the aging population. Management includes physical therapy, medications and potentially invasive surgeries such as foraminotomy. Advances in diagnostic and treatment strategies are essential due to LFS's complexity and prevalence, which underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in optimizing patient outcomes.

The subareolar Sappey's plexus was studied using color lymphography and immunohistochemical methods with a panel of antibodies to podoplanin, smooth muscle actin, low molecular weight cytokeratin AE1/AE3, and GATA3 on archival material obtained during radical mastectomies and sectoral resections with lymph node dissection from 86 patients diagnosed with non-special type breast cancer. At the macro- and microscopic levels, the connection between the subareolar lymphatic plexus and the lymphatic system of the breast parenchyma has been demonstrated. In triple negative breast cancer with metastases to the axillary lymph nodes, the involvement of subareolar lymphatic plexus into lymphogenous metastasis to the lymph nodes of the axillary lymphatic collector was shown.

Introduction: Lumbar foraminal stenosis (LFS) occurs primarily due to degenerative changes in older adults, affecting the spinal foramina and leading to nerve compression. Characterized by pain, numbness, and muscle weakness, LFS arises from structural changes in discs, joints, and ligaments, further complicated by factors like inflammation and spondylolisthesis. Diagnosis combines patient history, physical examination, and imaging, while management ranges from conservative treatment to surgical intervention, underscoring the need for a tailored approach.

This is due to its wide availability, low cost, lack of contraindications, and absence of harmful effects for the patient and medical staff, along with the possibility of real-time verification of the complete resection of tumor lesions and minimization of vascular injuries or damage to adjacent structures.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted from June to December 2022.

In order to obtain models of gliomas of varying degrees of malignancy, we performed morphological and molecular genetic study of a tissue strain of glioma 10-17-2 (Astrid-17) obtained by intracranial passaging of tumor fragments of chemically induced rat brain tumor, and a cell strain isolated from it. More or less pronounced changes in the expression levels of Mki67, Trp53, Vegfa, and Gfap genes in the tissue and cell strain of glioma 10-17-2 (Astrid-17) compared with intact brain tissue were shown. The tissue model of glioma 10-17-2 (Astrid-17) according to the studied characteristics shows features of grade 3-4 astrocytoma and the cellular model - grade 2-3 astrocytoma.

In adult male C57BL/6 mice with high (HR) and low (LR) resistance to hypoxia, morphological features of colon tumors and blood parameters were evaluated 70 days after intraperitoneal injection of azoxymethane and subsequent consumption of 3 cycles of dextran sulfate sodium. On macroscopic analysis, tumors were found in the distal colon in 35% (7 of 20 animals) of HR and 31% (4 of 13 animals) of LR animals. Microscopic analysis of the distal colon revealed tumors in 75% (15 of 20 animals) of HR and 69% (9 of 13 animals) of LR mice.

The target volume was sonicated by focusing ultrasound pulses (n=20) of 1.5 MHz frequency, 10-msec duration and 1-sec pulse repetition period, 517 W acoustic power within the pulse, and 103 MPa shock front amplitude at the focus into each node of a volumetric grid 4×4×1 mm.

Association was assessed between the data harvested by a long-baseline laser interference deformograph and the dynamics of body temperature (BT) in hamsters deprived of natural daily light-darkness changes. The power spectral data revealed the positive correlation between simultaneous time series of hamster BT and the Earth's crust deformation (ECD). The superposed epoch analysis established an association between abrupt upstrokes of hamster BT and ECD increments.

On the other hand, the incidence of cardiovascular (CV) diseases and their complications is increasingly growing, including due to side effects of anticancer drugs. CV complications are the most common cause of non-oncological death of cancer patients.

Morphological, molecular, and biological features of the systemic inflammatory response induced by LPS administration were assessed in adult and old male Wistar rats with high and low resistance to hypoxia. In 6 h after LPS administration, mRNA expression levels of Hif1a, Vegf, Nfkb, and level of IL-1β protein in old rats were higher than in adult rats regardless of hypoxia tolerance. The morphometric study showed that the number of neutrophils in the interalveolar septa of the lungs was significantly higher in low-resistant adult and old rats 6 h after LPS administration.

The article presents comprehensive medical statistical analysis of indicators and causes of mortality of children population of the Russian Federation in 2017-2021. It is emphasized that in Russia, in conditions of extremely unfavorable demographic situation, the hyper actual task is to preserve life of every child. It is demonstrated that crucial role in mortality of children population is played by not only infant mortality and mortality of children aged 1-4 years, but also by mortality of children of older ages.

We studied spontaneous and ex vivo activated cytokine production by blood cells of male Wistar rats with different resistance to hypoxia against the background of an LPS-induced systemic inflammatory response. In rats with low (LR) and high resistance (HR) to hypoxia, the number of leukocytes, granulocytes, and peripheral blood lymphocytes was determined, the levels of spontaneous and stimulated production of IL-1β and IL-10 and their ratio were assessed ex vivo. Against the background of a systemic inflammatory response, only HR animals showed a decrease in spontaneous and stimulated production of IL-1β and spontaneous production of IL-10.

In modeling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), old Wistar rats exhibit the same general signs of a PTSD-like condition as young rats do. The ratio of testosterone to corticosterone levels was assessed as a new index and proved to provide a guideline for dividing the rat population into low- and high-anxiety groups when modeling PTSD. Several features were observed in behavior, psycho-emotional manifestations, hormone levels, and myocardial state in old rats.

Renal cell carcinoma is a significant health burden worldwide, necessitating accurate and efficient diagnostic methods to guide treatment decisions. Traditional pathology practices have limitations, including interobserver variability and time-consuming evaluations. In recent years, digital pathology tools emerged as a promising solution to enhance the diagnosis and management of renal cancer.

Regulation of morphogenetic processes during postnatal development of the rat adrenal medulla was studied. Termination of the adrenal medulla growth was found to be associated with decreased chromaffin cell proliferation, activation of canonical Wnt-signaling pathway, and enhanced expression of Sonic Hedgehog ligand. Analysis of transcription factors associated with pluripotency revealed increased percentage of Oct4-expressing cells by the end of medulla growth and no signs of Sox2 expression.

Structural and functional parameters of mast cells (MC) in rat mammary glands during experimentally provoked breast cancer were studied by the cytogram, index of cell saturation with secretory products, and degranulation index. The cytogram was calculated in histological sections stained with toluidine blue. The functional conditions of MC were determined by electron microscopy.
