Emerging roles of long noncoding RNA H19 in human lung cancer.

Cell Biochem Funct

June 2024

Department of Medical Laboratory, College of Applied Medical Sciences, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia.

Lung cancer holds the position of being the primary cause of cancer-related fatalities on a global scale. Furthermore, it exhibits the highest mortality rate among all types of cancer. The survival rate within a span of 5 years is less than 20%, primarily due to the fact that the disease is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, resulting in less effective treatment options compared to earlier stages.

Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a chronic disease, and several risk factors predispose individuals to the condition in their daily lives, including exposure to allergens and inhalation irritants. Analyzing the potential risk factors that can trigger AR can provide reference material for individuals to use to reduce its occurrence in their daily lives. Nowadays, social media is a part of daily life, with an increasing number of people using at least 1 platform regularly.

Modern strategies for secondary prevention of ischemic stroke (IS) are based on long-term use of drugs from three main pharmaceutical groups (antihypertensive, lipid-lowering and antithrombotic drugs). In practical terms, the most difficult thing for a practitioner is the choice of antithrombotic therapy with anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents. Antithrombotic therapy for patients with acute cerebrovascular accidents has changed significantly in recent years.

The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has created challenging working conditions in coal-production activities. In addition to the massive loss of resources for miners, it has had a devastating impact on these individuals' mental health. Based on the conservation of resources (COR) theory and a resource-loss perspective, this study examined the impact of COVID-19 risk, life-safety risk, perceived job insecurity, and work-family conflict on miners' job performance.

Nowadays, the focus of researchers is on perceiving the heterogeneity observed in a tumor. The researchers studied the role of a specific subset of cancer cells with high resistance to traditional treatments, recurrence, and unregulated metastasis. This small population of tumor cells that have stem-cell-like specifications was named Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs).

The methodology and results of economic assessment and forecasting of the consequences of the most negative global climate change IPCC scenario (RCP 8.5) representative for the conditions of the Russian Arctic in the form of thawing and degradation of permafrost for healthcare facilities in eight Arctic regions of the Russian Federation are discussed. It is shown that the additional costs associated with these consequences for the maintenance and restoration of healthcare facilities in 2021-2050 may amount to about ₽60 bln, or about ₽2 bln per year (in 2021 prices) at the average rate of permafrost degradation and increase thawing depth, rising to ₽219 bln (₽7.

This paper reveals the research hotspots and development directions of case-based reasoning in the field of health care, and proposes the framework and key technologies of medical knowledge service systems based on case-based reasoning (CBR) in the big data environment. The 2124 articles on medical CBR in the Web of Science were visualized and analyzed using a bibliometrics method, and a CBR-based knowledge service system framework was constructed in the medical Internet of all people, things and data resources environment. An intelligent construction method for the clinical medical case base and the gray case knowledge reasoning model were proposed.

An Adaptive Deep Ensemble Learning Method for Dynamic Evolving Diagnostic Task Scenarios.

Diagnostics (Basel)

December 2021

Scientific-Research Center for Physical-Technical Informatics, Russian New University, Radio St., 22, 105005 Moscow, Russia.

Increasingly, machine learning methods have been applied to aid in diagnosis with good results. However, some complex models can confuse physicians because they are difficult to understand, while data differences across diagnostic tasks and institutions can cause model performance fluctuations. To address this challenge, we combined the Deep Ensemble Model (DEM) and tree-structured Parzen Estimator (TPE) and proposed an adaptive deep ensemble learning method (TPE-DEM) for dynamic evolving diagnostic task scenarios.
