Gold recovery from refractory pyrite-arsenopyrite concentrates using stirred tank reactor biooxidation is widely applied worldwide. Therefore, studies to address the characteristic problem of this technology are urgent. The goal of the present work was to research the possibility of counteracting the negative effects of unfavorable conditions (increasing pulp density and temperature) on the biooxidation of pyrite-arsenopyrite concentrate in laboratory-scale stirred tank reactors using additional carbon supply in the form of CO.

-succinimidyl-[F]fluorobenzoate ([F]SFB) is commonly prepared through a three-step procedure starting from [F]fluoride ion. A number of methods for the single-step radiosynthesis of [F]SFB have been introduced recently, including the radiofluorination of diaryliodonium salts and the Cu-mediated F-fluorination of pinacol aryl boronates and aryl tributyl stannanes, but they still have the drawbacks of lengthy product purification procedures. In the present work, two approaches for the direct labeling of [F]SFB from diaryliodonium (DAI) salt () and pinacol aryl boronate () are evaluated, with a major focus on developing a fast and simple SPE-based purification procedure.

Some specific anthraquinone derivatives (AQs) are known to be used widely as effective chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of cancer. However, their fundamental shortcoming is the high rate of cardiotoxicity observed in treated patients, which is thought to be caused by the increase in production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) catalyzed by iron and copper. The development of improved AQs and other anticancer drugs with enhanced efficacy but reduced toxicity remains a high priority.

A potential strategy to maintain the efficacy of carbapenems against carbapenemase-producing (CPKP) is their combination with carbapenemase inhibitors. To address these issues, the effectiveness of a novel combination of meropenem with avibactam against CPKP was studied. Additionally, the applicability of a pharmacokinetically-based approach to antibiotic/inhibitor minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determinations to better predict efficacy was examined.

The p53 protein has attracted huge research interest over several decades due to its role as one of the most important tumor suppressors in mammals, which orchestrates a synchronous response from normal cells in the body to various forms of stress. The diverse cellular activities of the p53 protein are regulated mainly via its post-translational modifications (PTMs). PTMs affect p53 on several levels: at the level of the assembly of tetrameric complexes on DNA to transactivate its target genes, at the level of the assembly of tetrameric complexes on DNA to transactivate its target genes; at the level of proteolysis in the absence of stress; and on the contrary, at the level of augmented protein stability in response to stress signals.

The stability of RNA is a critical factor in determining its functionality and degradation in the cell. In recent years, it has been shown that the stability of RNA depends on a complex interaction of external and internal factors. External conditions, such as temperature fluctuations, the level of acidity of the environment, the presence of various substances and ions, as well as the effects of oxidative stress, can change the structure of RNA and affect its stability.

N-Acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) is an efficient and multifunctional delivery tool in the development and synthesis of chemically modified oligonucleotide therapeutics (conjugates). Such therapeutics demonstrate improved potency in vivo due to the selective and efficient delivery to hepatocytes in the liver via receptor-mediated endocytosis, which is what drives the high interest in this molecule. The ways to synthesize such structures are relatively new and have not been optimized in terms of the yields and stages both in lab and large-scale synthesis.

The development of new convenient tools for the design of multicomponent nucleic acid (NA) complexes is one of the challenges in biomedicine and NA nanotechnology. In this paper, we analyzed the formation of hybrid RNA/DNA concatemers and self-limited complexes by a pair of oligonucleotides using UV melting, circular dichroism spectroscopy, and a gel shift assay. Effects of the size of the linker between duplex-forming segments of the oligonucleotides on complexes' shape and number of subunits were compared and systematized for RNA/DNA, DNA/DNA, and RNA/RNA assemblies.

This study investigates the dislocation density in ceramics processed by severe plastic deformation at room and elevated temperatures via high-pressure torsion (HPT) for various numbers of turns and shear strains. Ceramics, characterized by ionic or covalent bonding, typically exhibit brittleness due to limited dislocation activity. However, HPT enables significant microstructural transformations in ceramics including dislocation nucleation and accumulation.
