Soda lakes are unique double-extreme habitats characterized by high salinity and soluble carbonate alkalinity, yet harboring rich prokaryotic life. Despite intensive microbiology studies, little is known about the identity of the soda lake hydrolytic bacteria responsible for the primary degradation of the biomass organic matter, in particular cellulose. In this study, aerobic and anaerobic enrichment cultures with three forms of native insoluble cellulose inoculated with sediments from five soda lakes in south-western Siberia resulted in the isolation of four cellulotrophic haloalkaliphilic bacteria and their four saccharolytic satellites.

Biological polyamines, such as spermine, spermidine, and putrescine, are abundant intracellular compounds mostly bound to nucleic acids. Due to their nucleophilic nature, polyamines easily react with apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP) sites, DNA lesions that are constantly formed in DNA by spontaneous base loss and as intermediates of base excision repair. A covalent intermediate is formed, promoting DNA strand cleavage at the AP site, and is later hydrolyzed regenerating the polyamine.

The number of microglia cells and astrocytes in layer V of the cerebral cortex was estimated on day 7 after damage caused by a unilateral focal traumatic brain injury of the left hemisphere sensorimotor cortex. Quantitative assessment was performed by counting immunocytochemically stained microglia cells (Iba1 marker) and activated astrocytes (GFAP) at different distances from the lesion site. Activation of microglial and astroglial cells was observed not only in the marginal zone of the lesion of the left hemisphere, but also in the intact hemisphere.

The highest hemolytic activity of M. morganii cultivated in urine with low urea concentration (23 and 82 mmol/liter) was observed between 3rd and 4th hours of post-inoculation, while in urine with standard urea level (117 mmol/liter), the activity was observed at 5th hour of post-inoculation.

MSN particles, neither uncoated nor coated with calcium alginate, induced spontaneous platelet aggregation when added to platelet-rich plasma, but significantly enhanced ADP-induced platelet aggregation. Subcutaneous administration of uncoated and calcium alginate-coated MSN resulted in increased maximum size and rate of platelet aggregate formation 1 day post-injection.

We conducted a comparative study of the mammary gland microbiota in female Wistar rats and the microbiota associated with breast cancer (BC) induced by the administration of N-methyl-N-nitrosourea, after surgical treatment, photodynamic therapy (PDT), and chemotherapy (CT). It has been found that by behavioral and hemodynamic parameters the physiological activity of angiotensin II (Ang II) in combination with mLDL is considerably modified due to weakening of its diuretic effect and the inversion of hypertensive and tachyarrhythmic effects. Atherosclerosis is a long-term pathological process, so a single administration of artificially synthesized Ang I-mLDL complexes can be considered a model of the first contact of the body with pathogenic factors.

FoxP3 T-regulatory (Treg) lymphocytes and cytokine production by cells from the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) of epicardial (EAT) and thymus (TAT) adipose tissue of 42 patients with chronic coronary heart disease (CHD) were studied. In the SVF of TAT in patients with Gensini Score (GS)≥74 (the most severe atherosclerosis), the production of IL-1β, TNF, IL-4, and IFNγ was higher, while FoxP3 translocation into the nucleus was lower than in patients with GS<74. The GS index directly correlated with the production of IL-4, IL-1β, and TNF by cells of the SVF of TAT, and inversely - with the production of TNF, IL-17, and IL-10 by cells of the SVF of EAT.

The effect of optical stimulation at a frequency of 10 Hz (OS) on temporal parameters of sensorimotor activity in healthy subjects (n=32) was studied. The expression of the activation response was determined by the ratio of spectral power values (SPα2, μV) of the high frequency (10-13 Hz) subrange of the α-rhythm of the initial EEG with closed and opened eyes and the frequency of the maximum α-peak (IAPF). A test for simple motor reaction time was performed under normal and OS conditions.

The expression of somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) of types 1, 2, and 5 was studied in the small intestine of rats from different age groups (1, 10, 20, 30, 60 days, and 2-year-old) using Western blotting. The expression of SSTR1, SSTR2, and SSTR5 increased in the first 30 days of life, but decreased in older rats compared to 2-month-old animals. These findings suggest that there is differential expression of SSTRs during age-related development of the small intestine.

Reprogramming of T cells was carried out using a MEK inhibitor and a PD-1 blocker; the targeting of rT cells to tumor cells was achieved by preincubation with LLC cell lysate. It was shown that the antitumor effect of rT cells was based on apoptosis of tumor cells.

Purpose: This study explores the use of heart rate variability (HRV) analysis, a noninvasive technique for assessing the autonomic nervous system, by applying nonlinear dynamics and chaos theory to detect chaotic behavior in RR intervals and assess cardiovascular health.
Methods: Employing the "System Analysis of Heart Rate Dynamics" (SADR) program, this research combines chaos analysis with the short-time Fourier transform to assess nonlinear dynamic parameters in HRV. It includes constructing phase portraits in Takens space and calculating measures of chaos to identify deterministic chaos indicators.
