Bioenvironmental and biological factors have the potential to contribute to the development of glioma, a type of brain tumor. Recent studies have suggested that a unique circular RNA called circCSNK1G3 could play a role in promoting the growth of glioma cells. It does this by stabilizing a specific microRNA called miR-181 and reducing the expression of a tumor-suppressor gene known as chromobox protein homolog 7 (CBX7).

Bone-fat balance is crucial to maintain bone homeostasis. As common progenitor cells of osteoblasts and adipocytes, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are delicately balanced for their differentiation commitment. However, the exact mechanisms governing BMSC cell fate are unclear.

Objective: To investigate the role of NEAT1 targeted regulation of miR-125/ADAM9 mediated NF-κB pathway in inflammatory response in rosacea.
Method: HaCaT cell rosacea phenotype was induced by LL37. The connection targeted by NEAT1 and miR-125a-5p was confirmed by Double-Luciferase report analysis.

Low-intensity Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS) is a promising non-invasive technique for deep-brain stimulation and focal neuromodulation. Research with animal models and computational modelling has raised the possibility that TUS can be biased towards enhancing or suppressing neural function. Here, we first conduct a systematic review of human TUS studies for perturbing neural function and alleviating brain disorders.

Aims: MicroRNA-126 (miR-126), one of the most abundant microRNAs in platelets, is involved in the regulation of platelet activity and the circulating miR-126 is reduced during antiplatelet therapy. However, whether intraplatelet miR-126 plays a role in thrombosis and platelet inhibition remains unclear.
Methods And Results: Here, using tissue-specific knockout mice, we reported that the deficiency of miR-126 in platelets and vascular endothelial cells significantly prevented thrombosis and prolonged bleeding time.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) significantly affects the prognosis of surgical patients with inguinal hernia. The complex Caprini score, commonly used for postoperative VTE risk assessment, poses practical challenges for surgeons in clinical settings.
Methods: The CHAT-3 trial, a prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial, compared a simple three-factor model to assess VTE risk against routine practices in postinguinal hernia surgery (IHS) patients.

Background: The back-projection strategies such as confidence weighting (CW) and most likely annihilation position (MLAP) have been adopted into back-projection-and-filtering-like (BPF-like) deep reconstruction model and shown great potential on fast and accurate PET reconstruction. Although the two methods degenerate to an identical model at the time resolution of 0 ps, they represent two distinct approaches at the realistic time resolutions of current commercial systems. There is a lack of a systematic and fair assessment on these differences.

In high-risk patients with pure native aortic regurgitation (PNAR), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) remains an off-label intervention. Due to anatomical variations in the aortic root and technical challenges unique to PNAR, the transfemoral approach (TF-TAVR) requires continued accumulation of experience and technological refinement. In this context, we successfully and safely performed a snare-assisted TF-TAVR procedure for a patient with PNAR, characterized by significant aortic angulation.

Background: Droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) is widely applied to monitor measurable residual disease (MRD). However, there are limited studies on the feasibility of ddPCR-MRD monitoring after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), especially targeting multiple molecular markers simultaneously.
Methods: Our study collected samples from patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) in complete remission after allo-HSCT between January 2018 and August 2021 to evaluate whether posttransplant ddPCR-MRD monitoring can identify patients at high risk of relapse.

Vascular endothelial cells (VECs) are key players in the formation of neovessels and tumor metastasis, the ultimate cause of the majority of cancer-related human death. However, the crosstalk between VECs and metastasis remain greatly elusive. Based on our finding that tumor-associated VECs present significant decrease of Nrdp1 protein which is closely correlated with higher metastatic probability, herein we show that the conditional medium from hypoxia-incubated cancer cells induces extensive Nrdp1 downregulation in human and mouse VECs by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which activates CHIP, followed by Nrdp1 degradation in ubiquitin-proteasome-dependent way.

Objective: With the recent exponential increase in express deliveries across China, the number of patients with flame burns caused by electric bicycle battery chargers (BEBBC) has markedly increased in burn units. In this study, we aimed to characterize BEBBC to systematically explore measures to prevent their occurrence.
Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review of patients with flame burns who visited the Burn Department of Rui Jin Hospital between January 2015 and December 2021.

DNA nanostructures, known for their programmability, ease of modification, and favourable biocompatibility, have gained widespread application in the biomedical field. Among them, Tetrahedral DNA Origami (TDOs), as a novel DNA nanostructure, possesses well-defined structures, multiple modification sites, and large cavities, making it a promising drug carrier. However, current understanding of TDOs' interactions with biological systems, particularly with target cells and organs, remains unexplored, limiting its further applications in biomedicine.

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a progressive and life-threatening disease characterized by pulmonary vascular remodeling, which involves aberrant proliferation and apoptosis resistance of the pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs), resembling the hallmark characteristics of cancer. In cancer, the HMGB2 (high-mobility group box 2) protein promotes the pro-proliferative/antiapoptotic phenotype. However, the function of HMGB2 in PH remains uninvestigated.

Background: Cushing's Disease (CD) is a rare clinical syndrome characterized by excessive secretion of adrenocorticotrophic hormone, leading to significant functional and structural brain alterations as observed in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). While traditional statistical analysis has been widely employed to investigate these MRI changes in CD, it has lacked the ability to predict individual-level outcomes.
Purpose: To address this problem, this paper has proposed an interpretable machine learning (ML) framework, including model-level assessment, feature-level assessment, and biology-level assessment to ensure a comprehensive analysis based on structural MRI of CD.

The intracellular clustering of anisotropic nanoparticles is crucial to the improvement of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) for phototherapy applications. Herein, we programmed the intracellular clustering process of spiky nanoparticles (SNPs) by encapsulating them into an anionic liposome via a frame-guided self-assembly approach. The liposome-encapsulated SNPs (lipo-SNPs) exhibited distinct and enhanced lysosome-triggered aggregation behavior while maintaining excellent monodispersity, even in acidic or protein-rich environments.

Background: Impaired collateral formation is a major factor contributing to poor prognosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. However, the current pharmacological treatments for improving collateral formation remain unsatisfactory. The induction of endothelial autophagy and the elimination of reactive oxygen species (ROS) represent potential therapeutic targets for enhancing endothelial angiogenesis and facilitating collateral formation.
