Self-referential negative memory bias contributes to depression and other psychiatric disorders. Co-morbidity between these disorders is highly common in clinical practice, but transdiagnostic predictors like negative memory bias are not well understood yet. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the predictive value of negative memory bias for long-term change in broad psychiatric problems.

This guideline was developed in close collaboration with multidisciplinary experts from the European Association of Dermato-Oncology (EADO), the European Dermatology Forum (EDF) and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). Recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma were developed on the basis of systematic literature research and consensus conferences. Cutaneous melanoma (CM) is the most dangerous form of skin tumor and accounts for 90 % of skin cancer mortality.

Background: Despite extensive discourse on the utilisation of the temporal muscle for facial reanimation, anatomical description regarding the innervation of its motor nerve branches is incomplete and varied. This systematic review aimed to consolidate the existing evidence concerning the distribution and variation in the pattern of temporalis innervation.
Methods: A PRISMA-compliant systematic literature search was conducted in November 2023 and included studies offering anatomical insights into the distribution and variation of temporalis innervation patterns.

Background: Despite the encouraging findings of temporalis muscle-based facial reanimation surgery without the need for nerve grafting, there is a need for comprehensive evaluation of the impact of temporalis-based facial reanimation surgery on key outcome measures.
Methods: Comprehensive search in Medline and Embase databases were carried out up to 25 February 2023. The articles that examined facial reanimation surgery using the temporalis muscle were included in this study.

The German Environmental Specimen Bank (ESB) annually archives 24-h urine samples since the early 1980s. In this study, we analyzed 420 of these samples from the years 2014 to 2022 for metabolites of 18 phthalates and two substitutes. We merged the new data with the data from previous measurement campaigns to a combined dataset of 1825 samples covering a 35-year period from 1988 to 2022 to investigate time trends, calculate daily intakes and perform an anti-androgenic mixture risk assessment.

Bariatric surgery (BS) has demonstrated cardiovascular benefits in patients and was previously proven to be associated with an increased natriuretic peptide level without cardiac dysfunction. However, new studies have emerged, which require us to re-examine the relationship and extent of the correlation between BS, weight loss, and cardiac natriuretic peptide levels. A systematic search was conducted.

Glutathione is the major thiol-based antioxidant in a wide variety of biological systems, ranging from bacteria to eukaryotes. As a redox couple, consisting of reduced glutathione (GSH) and its oxidized form, glutathione disulfide (GSSG), it is crucial for the maintenance of the cellular redox balance. Glutathione transport out of and into cellular compartments and the extracellular space is a determinant of the thiol-disulfide redox state of the organelles and bodily fluids in question, but is currently not well understood.

Sensory loss may lead to intra- and cross-modal cortical reorganization. Previous research showed a significant correlation between the cross-modal contribution of the right auditory cortex to visual evoked potentials (VEP) and speech perception in cochlear implant (CI) users with prelingual hearing loss (HL), but not in those with postlingual HL. The present study aimed to explore the cortical reorganization induced by postlingual HL, particularly in the right temporal region, and how it correlates with speech perception outcome with a CI.

Background: The aim of this study was to develop and psychometrically evaluate a parent-rated parenting assessment scale including positive and negative dimensions of parenting. Factorial validity, reliability, measurement invariance, latent mean differences and construct validity of the Assessment Scale of Positive and Negative Parenting Behavior (FPNE) were tested in a pooled sample of five studies of 1,879 school-aged children (6.00 to 12.

Associative learning is a key feature of adaptive behaviour and mental health, enabling individuals to adjust their actions in anticipation of future events. Comprehensive documentation of this essential component of human cognitive development throughout different developmental periods is needed. Here, we investigated age-related changes in associative learning in key developmental stages, including infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

Cancer remains one of the deadliest diseases worldwide, with some tumors proving difficult to treat and increasingly resistant to current therapies. Capitalizing on this, there is a need for new therapeutic agents with novel mechanisms of action. Among promising candidates, Fe(III) complexes have gained significant attention as potential chemotherapeutic agents.

Structural hemispheric asymmetry has long been assumed to guide functional lateralization of the human brain, but empirical evidence for this compelling hypothesis remains scarce. Recently, it has been suggested that microstructural asymmetries may be more relevant to functional lateralization than macrostructural asymmetries. To investigate the link between microstructure and function, we analyzed multimodal MRI data in 907 right-handed participants.

Together, ecological psychology and enactivism can explain imagination as being driven by affordance competition. This paper presents synaptic plasticity as a hotspot for the respective historicity. First, (i) affordances are introduced as directly perceptible on the ecological view, and as co-created by an individual on the enactive view.
