Background: Surgeons are increasingly using larger femoral head sizes in total hip arthroplasty (THA) to improve stability and reduce the rate of dislocation, 1 of the leading causes of revision surgery. Large ceramic head sizes up to 48 mm can now be used with monoblock acetabular components. National registries have shown promising results at short-term with large diameter ceramic-on-ceramic THA, with very low revision rates.

Purpose: The 21-gene recurrence score (Oncotype DX) (RS) informs systemic therapy decision making in ER-positive HER2-negative early breast cancer (BC). To date no study has described the more nuanced discussions that take place regarding systemic therapy or the impact of the RS on concordance in such decision making. Background: Structured care pathways optimising peri-operative care have been shown to significantly enhance post-operative recovery. We aim to determine if enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) principles could provide benefit for paediatric patients undergoing major colorectal resection for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Methods: Children undergoing elective bowel resection for IBD at a regional paediatric unit using standard methods of peri-operative care were matched to adult cases from an associated tertiary referral university hospital already using an ERAS program.
