The infrequency of presentation can result in diagnostic and management variability. The aim is to provide evidence-based or expert consensus recommendations for multidisciplinary teams managing patients with phyllodes tumours.

Pre-pregnancy fertility guidance for women of childbearing age with epilepsy: A scoping review.

Background: Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions affecting women of reproductive age. Epilepsy management during pregnancy is a clinical conundrum, requiring a balance between seizure control and risk minimization for women with epilepsy, as well as for their fetuses.

Objective: In this review, we aimed to systematically search, evaluate, and summarize relevant evidence on perinatal fertility guidance for women with epilepsy to provide a basis for medical staff to offer comprehensive fertility counseling.

Children's emerging concepts of resilience: insights from using body mapping in an East London cohort sample of 7-10-year-old children.

Background: Understanding resilience factors in children is essential for developing early mental health interventions. Middle childhood is an understudied developmental stage, with many quantitative measures lacking validation for this age group and not capturing diverse experiences. This study aimed to use body mapping, an arts-based method, as a novel approach to understand 7-10-year-old children's concepts of resilience (including definitions and factors that contribute to resilience) in East London.

Meibomian gland alterations in allergic conjunctivitis: insights from a novel quantitative analysis algorithm.

Purpose: To investigate the changes in meibomian gland (MG) structure in allergic conjunctivitis (AC) patients using an intelligent quantitative analysis algorithm and to explore the relationship between these changes and clinical parameters.

Methods: A total of 252 eyes from patients with AC and 200 eyes from normal controls were examined. Infrared meibography was performed using the non-contact mode of the Keratograph 5M.

Direct-acting oral anticoagulant removal by intraoperative hemoadsorption in CABG and/or single valve surgery: interim analysis of the International Safe and Timely Antithrombotic Removal (STAR) registry.

Objective: Patients on direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are at high risk of perioperative bleeding complications. Intraoperative hemoadsorption is a novel strategy to reduce perioperative bleeding in patients on DOACs undergoing non-deferable cardiac surgery. The international STAR-registry reports real-world clinical outcomes associated with this application.

Value of endometrial biopsy in patients with hysteroscopically atrophic endometrium in patients with postmenopausal bleeding.

Purpose: To determine the rate of precancer and cancer in women presenting with PMB who have a visually atrophic endometrium at hysteroscopy and assess the value of endometrial biopsy in this situation and the adequacy of the samples obtained.

Methods: Retrospective reviews of all patients with a visually atrophic endometrium at hysteroscopy who had presented with PMB and had an ET > / = 4 mm or ET < 4 mm with focal changes or irregular features between 2013 and 2024 at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton were included (n = 1096). Patients who had previously had cancer or precancer or had unclear hysteroscopy findings were excluded.

However, in recent years the epistemic authority of science has been challenged, causing concerns about low public trust in scientists.

Science is integral to society because it can inform individual, government, corporate, and civil society decision-making on issues such as public health, new technologies or climate change. Yet, public distrust and populist sentiment challenge the relationship between science and society. To help researchers analyse the science-society nexus across different geographical and cultural contexts, we undertook a cross-sectional population survey resulting in a dataset of 71,922 participants in 68 countries.

Family and genetic counseling in Leber hereditary optic neuropathy.

Aim: Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) predominantly manifests during adolescence or young adulthood, resulting in sudden and profound vision loss in individuals who previously had normal vision. This abrupt change significantly impacts daily life, necessitating emotional support, counseling and low-vision rehabilitative services to help affected individuals cope with the shock and adapt to their residual vision. The psychosocial burden of dealing with vision loss extends beyond the individuals directly affected by LHON, affecting matrilineal relatives who face the dual challenges of grieving for their loved one's vision loss and managing their own uncertainty about potential vision loss and its familial implications.

Comfortable knowing little about lymphoedema? A qualitative study of medical interns in Australia.

Objectives: Knowledgeable doctors are needed for timely assessment, diagnosis and management of lymphoedema. This qualitative study explored the thoughts and feelings of Australian interns (medical graduates in their first postgraduate year) towards (i) their understanding of the lymphatic system and lymphoedema, (ii) curricula pertaining to lymphoedema within their Australian medical degree and (iii) how they perceive that their understanding and medical training in lymphoedema influence their clinical practice.
