The impact of sex and cannabis on clinical features in first-admitted patients with psychosis.

There is a scarcity of studies investigating the effect of sex on the clinical and treatment characteristics of first-admitted patients with first-episode psychosis (FEP). The reasons for using cannabis and the effect of cannabis on clinical features have not received enough attention either. We aim therefore, to investigate sex differences in the reasons for cannabis use and to determine the effects of sex, cannabis use and their interaction on clinical variables at admission and at discharge from the inpatient unit.

Psychometric properties of instruments measuring quality and satisfaction in mental health: A systematic review.

Aim: To identify the methodological quality of each study and analyse the psychometric properties of instruments measuring quality and satisfaction with care from the perspective of mental health patients and professionals.

Background: In recent years, interest in rigorously assessing quality of care in mental health and nursing has increased. Health professionals and researchers should select the most adequate instrument based on knowledge of its measurement properties.

Reliability and validity of the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire in a sample of Spanish university students.

However, while these questionnaires evaluate aspects of positive mental health, they fail to measure the construct itself. WHAT DOES THIS PAPER ADD TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE?: The widespread use and the lack of specific questionnaires for evaluating the positive mental health construct justify the need to measure the robustness of the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire.

Psychometric evaluation of a new instrument in Spanish to measure the wellness of university nursing faculty.

The aim of this study was to design and validate an instrument to measure the wellness among university nursing faculty. The study was performed in two phases. Phase I consisted of the development of the instrument with discussion groups and participant consensus.

Psychometric Properties of Self-Care Requisites Scale (SCRS-h) in Hospitalized Patients Diagnosed With Schizophrenia.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to adapt the community version of the Self-Care Requisites Scale so as to be able to use it in a hospital context and to validate the new version in patients with schizophrenia.

Design And Methods: An initial phase was conducted to develop the questionnaire by means of a panel of experts. The validation of the psychometric properties was conducted using a sample of 264 patients.

Effectiveness of problem-solving technique in caring for family caregivers: a clinical trial study in an urban area of Catalonia (Spain).

Aims And Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of the problem-solving technique in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression among primary caregivers and to describe and evaluate the process carried out by nurses to find strengths and areas of improvement.

Background: In Spain, home care for the chronically ill patients and their family caregivers should be a priority in health and social policies due to the increase in ageing population and the progressive increase in dependent individuals. One of the areas involved is home-based nursing and counselling for family caregivers.

Effect of non-significant proportional bias in the final measurement uncertainty.

The trueness of an analytical method can be assessed by calculating the proportional bias of the method in terms of apparent recovery. If the apparent recovery does not differ significantly from one, the analytical method has not a significant bias. If this is the case, the bias is neglected and the uncertainty associated with this bias is included in the uncertainty budget of results.
