This article reviews the contribution of modern investigative techniques to the diagnosis of cutaneous lymphoproliferative diseases. Special attention is given to the significance of immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor rearrangements; as detected by Southern blotting and/or the polymerase chain reaction.
