Background: Although adhesive capsulitis (AC) is a common condition, the pathological mechanisms remain understudied. The purpose of our research was to evaluate variations in gene expression across the entire genome in the subacromial bursa tissue of individuals with rotator cuff tears (RCT), with or without AC, and to explore the factors that may influence the occurrence and progression of AC.
Methods: Transcription profiles of subacromial bursa samples from 12 RCT patients, of whom 6 had also AC, were evaluated.

Traditional practice favors total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) for the treatment of primary glenohumeral osteoarthritis (PGHO) with an intact rotator cuff; however, the indications for reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) have expanded to include PGHO. The purpose of this systematic review is to compare the mean differences in the range of motion and patient-reported outcomes between the TSA and RSA with an intact rotator cuff and to analyze the subgroup of the Walch type B2 glenoid. This IRB-exempt, PROSPERO-registered systematic review strictly followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) guidelines.

Rotator cuff disease is one of the most common human tendinopathies and can lead to significant shoulder dysfunction. Despite efforts to improve symptoms in patients with rotator cuff tears and healing rates after rotator cuff repair, high rates of failed healing and persistent shoulder morbidity exist. Massive rotator cuff (RC) tendon tears are associated with progressive fibro-adipogenesis and muscle atrophy that altogether cause shoulder muscle wasting. Platelet derived growth factor β (PDGFRβ) lineage cells, that co-express PDGFRα have previously been shown to directly contribute to scar formation and fat accumulation in a mouse model of irreversible tendon and nerve transection (TTDN). Conversely, PDGFRβ lineage cells have also been shown to be myogenic in cultures and in other models of skeletal muscle injury.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy of steroid injections to other injectable therapies in partial-thickness rotator cuff (RC) tears.
Methods: A systematic literature search was performed until October 25, 2021, in 3 databases (Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Embase, MEDLINE). Eligible studies compared the efficacy of steroid, hyaluronic acid (HA), platelet-rich plasma (PRP), the combination of HA and PRP (HA + PRP), and adipose-derived regenerative cells in RC tears.

Background: Glenoid position and inclination are important factors in protecting against scapular notching, which is the most common complication that directly affects the longevity of reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). This study aimed to investigate the biomechanical characteristics of glenosphere orientation, comparing neutral tilt, inferior overhang with an eccentric glenosphere at the same placement of baseplate, and inferior tilt after 10° inferior reaming in the lower part of the glenoid in RSA.
Methods: Nine cadaveric shoulders were tested with 5 combinations of customized glenoid components: a centric glenosphere was combined with a standard baseplate (group A); an eccentric glenosphere to provide 4-mm inferior overhang than the centric glenosphere was combined with a standard baseplate (group B); a centric glenosphere was combined with a wedge-shaped baseplate tilted inferiorly by 10° with the same center of rotation (group C); an eccentric glenosphere was attached to a wedge-shaped baseplate (group D); and 10° inferior reaming was performed on the lower part of the glenoid to apply 10° inferior tilt, with a centric glenosphere secured to the standard baseplate for simulation of clinical tilt (group E).

Background: The current study aimed to determine the changes in pre-and post-operative Pittsburg sleep quality index (PSQI) and Tampa scale of kinesiophobia (TSK) values according to the Hamada classification in patients who underwent reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) for rotator cuff tear arthropathy (RCTA).
Methods: One hundred and eight patients who underwent RSA for RCTA were reviewed retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups with low grade (stages 1-2-3) (n = 49) and high grade (stages 4a-4b-5) (n = 59) according to the Hamada classification, which is the radiographic evaluation of RCTA.
