The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists provided updated guidance in 2021, recommending that reproductive health professionals should include discussion of environmental exposures with their patients. However, environmental health is seldom included in medical training, with endocrine-disrupting chemicals, such as phthalates-linked to adverse pregnancy outcomes-being among the least discussed. We developed a one-hour virtual educational intervention to train reproductive health professionals on the routes of phthalate exposure, potential associated health impacts, and suggestions on how to discuss exposure reduction with patients.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder marked by the progressive accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and tau protein tangles in the brain. These pathological aggregates interfere with neuronal function, leading to the disruption of cognitive processes, particularly memory. In this study, carrot (orange and black) powder substitution (0-15%) and different dough applications (guar gum (GG) addition, pregelatinization (PG) and a PG + GG combination) were researched in gluten-free pasta preparation to improve the bioactive components and technological properties. Some quality attributes and bioactive components of the pasta were determined. Black carrot powder substitution into the pasta revealed rich functional properties with higher total dietary fiber (TDF), Ca, K, Mg, P and total phenolic content (TPC) than orange carrot powder.

We recently showed that feeding mice dodecanedioic acid, a 12-carbon dicarboxylic acid (DC) that can be chain-shortened four rounds to succinyl-CoA, drives high-level protein hypersuccinylation in the peroxisome, particularly on peroxisomal FAO enzymes. Cisplatin is an established component of treatment protocols for various solid malignancies but carries a significant potential for serious adverse effects. Ototoxicity from cisplatin treatment is an important dose-limiting toxicity that manifests as bilateral, progressive, irreversible, dose-dependent sensorineural hearing loss, ear pain, tinnitus, and vestibular dysfunction. In this paper, cellulose-lignin films containing Fe were prepared by the codissolution-precipitation method, and the films have high transparency as well as high UV absorption. In this process, kraft lignin chelates with Fe and then bonds with cellulose through hydrogen bonding, evenly distributing within the film. The morphological results showed that the kraft lignin chelated with Fe bound tightly linked to cellulose within the Fe@cellulose-lignin composite films.
