Radial artery occlusion (RAO) has been the most common postprocedural complication of transradial artery access. The optimal method of prevention of RAO is still lacking. In our study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of patent hemostasis on early (24 hours) and late (2 weeks) RAO prevention.

Approval was supported by the phase 2, multicenter, single-arm ZUMA-5 study of axi-cel for patients with R/R indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma (iNHL; N = 104), including FL and marginal zone lymphoma (MZL). In the primary analysis (median follow-up, 17.

Background: Initiation of evidence-based medications for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) during hospitalization in contemporary practice is unknown.
Objectives: This study characterized opportunities for and achievement of heart failure (HF) medication initiation.
Methods: Using the GWTG-HF (Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure) Registry 2017-2020, which collected data on contraindications and prescribing for 7 evidence-based HF-related medications, we assessed the number of medications for which each patient with HFrEF was eligible, use before admission, and prescribed at discharge.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is the most common chronic liver disease in children in the United States and encompasses a range of disease from steatosis to cirrhosis. The mainstay of treatment is lifestyle modifications like increased physical activity and healthier eating habits. These are sometimes augmented with medications or surgery for weight loss.

BACKGROUND The Share 35 policy was introduced in 2013 by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) to increase opportunities of sicker patients to access liver transplantation. However, it has the disadvantage of higher MELD score associated with adverse postoperative transplant outcomes. Early data after implementation of the Share 35 policy showed significantly poorer post-transplantation survival in some UNOS regions.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is responsible for the majority of trauma-related deaths and is a leading cause of disability. It is characterized by an inflammatory process involved in the progression of secondary brain injury. TBI is measured by the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) with scores ranging from 15-3, demonstrating mild to severe brain injury.

Catheter-based ablation techniques have a well-established role in atrial fibrillation (AF) management. The prevalence and impact of AF is increasing globally, thus mandating an emphasis on improving ablation techniques through innovation. One key area of ongoing evolution in this field is the use of laser energy to perform pulmonary vein isolation during AF catheter ablation.

Venovenous bypass (VVB) is a technique that was developed in the 1980s to mitigate untoward hemodynamic effects of complete cross-clamping of the inferior vena cava during liver transplantation (LT). Since the introduction of nonclassic surgical techniques, the interest in using VVB has decreased. Despite this, VVB is still commonly practiced today.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has significantly advanced the treatment of patients with relapsed and refractory hematologic malignancies and is increasingly investigated as a therapeutic option of other malignancies. The main adverse effect of CAR T-cell therapy is potentially life-threatening cytokine release syndrome (CRS). Clinical cardiovascular (CV) manifestations of CRS include tachycardia, hypotension, troponin elevation, reduced left ventricular ejection fraction, pulmonary edema, and cardiogenic shock.

Objectives: This study sought to describe the short-term health status benefits of angiotensin-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) therapy in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
Background: Although therapy with sacubitril/valsartan, a neprilysin inhibitor, improved patients' health status (compared with enalapril) at 8 months in the PARADIGM-HF (Prospective Comparison of ARNI with ACE inhibitor to Determine Impact on Global Mortality and Morbidity in Heart Failure) study, the early impact of ARNI on patients' symptoms, functions, and quality of life is unknown.
Methods: Health status was assessed by using the 12-item Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) in 3,918 outpatients with HFrEF and left ventricular ejection fraction ≤40% across 140 U.
Background Intravenous recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rtPA) remains the only medical therapy to improve outcomes for acute ischemic stroke (AIS), but the safety of rtPA in AIS patients with a history of recent myocardial infarction (MI) remains controversial. Methods and Results We sought to determine whether the presence of recent MI would alter the risk of mortality and rtPA-related complications. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to compare in-hospital outcomes between rtPA-treated AIS patients with recent MI within 3 months and those with no history of MI from the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke hospitals between February 2009 and December 2015.

Evaluation of cardiac function during periods of stress is of key importance for the perioperative setting. Non-invasive hemodynamic monitors provide markers of cardiac function. This pilot study sought to evaluate the ability of a non-invasive hemodynamic monitor to detect cardiac stress during formal stress echocardiography testing.

Background: Serial hemoglobin measurement (ΔHgb) is intended to aid in the early identification of blunt trauma patients who have significant blood loss requiring intervention. However, the utility of ΔHgb has yet to be rigorously studied.
Objective: We sought to determine if ΔHgb is a reliable diagnostic tool in assessing blood loss in blunt trauma patients.

Importance: A roadblock for research on adductor spasmodic dysphonia (ADSD), abductor SD (ABSD), voice tremor (VT), and muscular tension dysphonia (MTD) is the lack of criteria for selecting patients with these disorders.
Objective: To determine the agreement among experts not using standard guidelines to classify patients with ABSD, ADSD, VT, and MTD, and develop expert consensus attributes for classifying patients for research.
Design, Setting And Participants: From 2011 to 2016, a multicenter observational study examined agreement among blinded experts when classifying patients with ADSD, ABSD, VT or MTD (first study).

Objectives/hypothesis: Squamous cell carcinoma of the retromolar trigone (RMT SCC) is a relatively uncommon primary site for oral cavity malignancy. However, given its proximity to the mandible and buccal mucosa, RMT SCC typically exhibits early invasion and generally presents at an advanced stage. Large-sample studies are needed to assess the epidemiology and clinical outcomes of this tumor.
