This study investigates the effect of essential oil (EO)-based preparations on biofilm adhesion to orthodontic archwires. Five identical-sized orthodontic archwires of different materials were tested using therapeutic and preventive applications of essential oils.

Moreover, a narrative review aims to summarize the current knowledge regarding HCV treatment in HD patients.

Insulin resistance (IR) is the most important factor involved in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes but may also develop in type 1 diabetes (T1DM). Developing IR in patients with T1DM may generate a burden in achieving glycemic targets and may deteriorate the overall prognosis. This review aims to describe the pathogenesis of IR in T1DM, summarize the common associations of IR with other conditions in patients with T1DM, describe the consequences of developing IR in these patients, and present the interventions that target IR in people with T1DM.

Surgical Treatment of Post-Traumatic Radio-Ulnar Synostosis.

Radio-ulnar synostosis is a rare complication which develops following forearm trauma, the main manifestation being stiffness and leading to the loss of pronation and supination. For the patient, it is a very frustrating experience due to the impairment of the normal function of the forearm, whereas for the surgeon the treatment is difficult as, unfortunately, there is no consensus regarding the best way to approach it. Many surgical techniques and other kinds of adjuvant therapies have been developed in an effort to solve this disability.

Retrospective Study on Orthodontic Gingival Recession Correction Using Clear Aligners.

: Our study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ClearCorrect clear aligners (The Straumann Group) in improving gingival recession, which developed following prior fixed orthodontic treatment. The specific objectives were to assess changes in recession severity in patients with orthodontic gingival recessions following aligner therapy and to determine whether the initial severity of recession influenced improvement rates across three categories-mild (RT1), moderate (RT2), and severe (RT3)-as defined by the Cairo classification. Fifty-six patients with gingival recession from previous orthodontic treatment received aligner therapy for seven to twelve months, focusing on 146 recession sites, primarily in the lower anterior region.

Changes in the positions of teeth occur during orthodontic treatment due to the application of forces that cause restructuring of the periodontal tissue. In the last decade, substantial research has been conducted to detect different biomarkers in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) to obtain a better assessment of the periodontal status. The purpose of this review is to describe how the levels of certain biomarkers from the gingival fluid change during tissue remodeling throughout orthodontic treatment.

: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is prevalent among obese individuals and can progress to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
