Introduction: Regional hepatic arterial infusion of chemotherapy is performed for unresectable liver tumors via percutaneously implanted port-catheter systems; while these port-catheter systems are effective administration routes, they are associated with various complications. Withdrawal of the system is considered if the complications occur, but repeated hepatic arterial infusion of chemotherapy (HAIC) via an implanted port-catheter system is a last-resort treatment for unresectable advanced liver cancer, and the treatment must be continued. We discuss various cases with complications arising in the indwelling port area in hepatic arterial infusion of chemotherapy and report whether the system was salvaged.

Aims/introduction: Sulfonylurea-related hypoglycemia increases the risk of cardiovascular sequela, such as cardiac arrhythmia. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between the level of glycated hemoglobin (HbA ) and the duration of hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetes patients treated with sulfonylureas.
Materials And Methods: Glucose levels in the enrolled patients (n = 300) were investigated with a professional continuous glucose monitoring device in the outpatient setting at six diabetes centers in Japan.

The clinicopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics of clinically occult extrapulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis in lymph nodes (LN-LAM) being dissected during surgical staging of pelvic malignancy have not been well investigated. We assessed samples from nine female patients (median age, 61). None had past or familial history of tuberous sclerosis and had LAM lesions other than LN such as lung.

Tamoxifen treatment for breast cancer may induce ovarian cysts and supraphysiological levels of serum estrogen. We report successful management with luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonist of ovarian hyperstimulation induced by tamoxifen. A 49-year-old woman was operated on for invasive ductal carcinoma of the right breast.

Background: Inflammation-induced carcinogenesis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has been reported; however, its involvement in PDAC with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) remains unclear. We herein investigated the relationship between pancreatic atrophy and inflammation and the incidence of PDAC concomitant with IPMN.
Methods: This study included 178 consecutive patients who underwent surgical resection for PDAC with IPMN (N = 21) and IPMN (N = 157) between April 2001 and October 2016.

Introduction: Sleeve fractures of the patella are rare fractures that only occur in children. The diagnosis is difficult both clinically and radiologically since the distal bony fragment may be too small to be detectable by radiography. A high-riding patella and hemarthrosis are important signs of sleeve fractures.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of a novel simulation software package (OrthoForecast) for predicting the soft tissue profile after orthognathic surgery. The study included 15 patients with facial asymmetry (asymmetry group), 15 with a skeletal class II jaw relationship (class II group), and 15 with a skeletal class III jaw relationship (class III group). Twenty-four feature points were digitized, and the distances between points on the predicted and actual postoperative images were compared.
