Introduction: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) management with co-existing acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains challenging as it requires a clinically relevant balance between the risk and outcomes of thrombosis and the risk of bleeding. However, the literature evaluating the treatment approaches in this high-risk population is scarce.

Methods And Results: In this review, we aimed to summarize the available literature on the safety of ITP first- and second-line therapies to provide a practical guide on the management of ITP co-existing with ACS.

Study Objective: Pregnancy-related morbidity and mortality rates in the United States are rising despite advances in knowledge, technology, and healthcare delivery. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of adverse pregnancy outcomes, with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) being a potential contributor to the worse outcomes in pregnancy.

Design/setting: We analyzed data from the national inpatient sample database to examine trends in the incidence and in-hospital outcomes of myocardial infarction in pregnancy from 2016 to 2020.

The patient was unresponsive and experienced cardiac arrest minutes after the procedure, requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After return of spontaneous circulation he displayed somnolence, confusion and chest discomfort.

Introduction And Aim: The optimal composition and duration of antiplatelet therapy after complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains unclear. We conducted a meta-analysis to compare 1-3 months of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) followed by monotherapy vs. 12 months of DAPT.

Concurrent coronary artery disease and immune thrombocytopenia: a systematic review.

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) management in the setting of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) remains very challenging to clinicians as a reasonable balance between bleeding and thrombosis risks needs to be achieved, and the evidence guiding such management is scarce.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines to summarize the available literature on the management and outcomes of CAD coexisting with ITP. We searched PubMed and Embase for studies published in English exploring CAD and ITP management until 05 October 2022.

Syncope as the Sole Presentation of Multi-Vessel Coronary Artery Disease.

Defining the etiology of syncope can be occasionally challenging. We present a case with no history of coronary artery disease (CAD) who presented exclusively with exertional syncope, and was found to have mildly reduced left ventricular systolic dysfunction on echocardiogram and severe multi-vessel CAD with chronic total occlusion (CTO) of the right coronary artery (RCA). Syncope as the initial presentation of advanced CAD in the absence of classic ischemic symptoms is rather an uncommon presentation in clinical practice.

The use of statins may be associated with muscle-related side effects ranging from myalgia to rhabdomyolysis. A rare adverse effect is statin-induced anti-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (anti-HMGCR) necrotizing myositis, which may develop after exposure to statins due to autoantibodies against HMG-Co-A reductase. We present the case of a 76-year-old male who developed progressive muscle weakness three years after exposure to statins.

We aimed to translate and validate the Quality of Life Profile for Spine Deformities (QLPSD), an age-specific tool assessing the individuals' health-related quality of life (HRQoL), into a Chinese version for adolescent individuals with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). The Chinese version was translated from the original Spanish QLPSD following widely accepted guidelines and evaluated by both individuals with AIS and experts. 172 Chinese-speaking individuals between 9 and 18 years of age with Cobb angles between 20° and 40° were included.

An immunocompetent woman presented with headaches. She previouslyworked at a farm in upstate New York. Brain MRI noted pituitary enlargement and neurosurgerypursued trans-sphenoidal pituitary biopsy.

ORGANIZING PNEUMONIA: AN UNUSUAL SEQUELA OF COVID-19 INFECTION.

Unlabelled: Organizing pneumonia (OP) is a form of interstitial lung disease that develops in response to acute lung injury. SARS-CoV-2 causes a wide range of lung and extrapulmonary disease, but there are few data suggesting an association between COVID-19 and OP. We describe a patient with COVID-19 pneumonia who developed severe progressive OP with significant morbidity.

There are limited data on the mortality trends of HCM in the United States. To study the demographics and trends of mortality in patients with HCM, a retrospective cohort analysis was done with mortality data of patients with HCM listed as an underlying cause of death in the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Wide-Ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research database (CDC-WONDER) from January 1999 to December 2020. The analysis took place in February 2022.
