Electronic address:
Background: Therapeutic decisions for patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) are mostly based on static measurements performed on two-dimensional standing full-spine radiographs. However, the trunk plays an essential role in the human locomotion, and the functional consequences during daily activities of this specific and common spinal deformity are not factored in.
Research Question: Does patients with AIS have specific gait patterns based on spatio-temporals parameters measurements ?
Methods: 90 AIS patients (aged 10-18 years) with preoperative simplified gait analysis were retrospectively included for analysis between 2017 and 2020.

Pediatric chronic immune thrombocytopenia (cITP) is a heterogeneous condition in terms of bleeding severity, second-line treatment use, association with clinical and/or biological immunopathological manifestations (IMs), and progression to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). No risk factors for these outcomes are known. Specifically, whether age at ITP diagnosis, sex, or IMs impact cITP outcomes is unknown.

Background: Staphylococcus aureus (SA) is one of the main pathogens responsible for healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) in pediatrics. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence of SA-HCAI among colonized patients and the factors associated with it in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
Methods: We designed a 6-year retrospective cohort study of a PICU in a French university children's hospital including all children admitted to the PICU from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2016, who had SA colonization on PICU admission.

There exist no objective markers for tinnitus or tinnitus disorders, which complicates diagnosis and treatments. The combination of EEG with sophisticated classification procedures may reveal biomarkers that can identify tinnitus and accurately differentiate different levels of distress experienced by patients. EEG recordings were obtained from 129 tinnitus patients and 142 healthy controls.

Background: NKX2-1-related disorders have a prevalence of 1:500,000 and are therefore considered a rare condition according to the European Commission's definition. The European Reference Network of Rare Neurological Disorders is developing the first clinical practice guideline on the management of this condition, with the support of the Andalusian Health Technology Assessment Area, Endo-ERN, ERN-Lung and Imegen, within the framework of the ERNs Guidelines programme (DG SANTE/2018/B3/030). Within the scope of this programme, it becomes necessary to explore the patient perspective in order to include it in the ongoing clinical practice guideline and accompanying patient information booklet.

Purpose: Groin hernia repair is one of the most frequent operation performed worldwide. Chronic postoperative inguinal pain (CPIP) is the most common and challenging complication after surgical repair with subsequent high socio-economic impact. The aim of this study was to compare the one-year CPIP rates between Lichtenstein, trans-inguinal pre-peritoneal (TIPP), trans-abdominal pre-peritoneal (TAPP) and totally extra-peritoneal (TEP) repair techniques on the French Hernia Registry.

Background: For patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), calculating the daily dose of basal insulin may be challenging. Insulia is a digital remote monitoring solution that uses clinical algorithms to recommend basal insulin doses. A predecessor device was evaluated in the TeleDiab-2 randomized controlled trial, showing that a higher percentage of patients using the app achieved their target fasting blood glucose (FBG) level compared to the control group, and insulin doses were adjusted to higher levels without hypoglycemia.

Persistent fetal vasculature (PFV) is a rare malformative ocular disorder resulting from the failure of the hyaloid vasculature to regress. The severity of the visual impairment is depending on the underlying eye defects, ranging from discreet hyaloid remnants to severe ocular anomalies. Although PFV is generally unilateral, sporadic and idiopathic, a genetic cause has been described in some individuals, especially those presenting with a bilateral and/or syndromic form of PFV.

Introduction: Primary infection or reactivation of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in pediatric kidney transplantation. Valganciclovir (VGC) treatment is recommended for prophylaxis of cytomegalovirus infection, but its role for the prevention of EBV infection remains controversial.
Patients And Methods: All pediatric kidney transplant recipients aged <18 years old were considered for inclusion in this retrospective study.

Blood phenotypes are defined by the presence or absence of specific blood group antigens at the red blood cell (RBC) surface, due to genetic polymorphisms among individuals. The recent development of genomic and proteomic approaches enabled the characterization of several enigmatic antigens. The choline transporter-like protein CTL2 encoded by the SLC44A2 gene plays an important role in platelet aggregation and neutrophil activation.

Amblyopia is a global public health issue with extensive, multifaceted impacts on vision and quality of life (QoL) for both patients and families. Geographical variation exists in the management of amblyopia, with traditional mainstay treatments, optical correction, and fellow eye occlusion most successful when implemented at an early age. In recent years, however, studies demonstrating meaningful improvements in older children and adults have challenged the concept of a complete loss of visual processing plasticity beyond the critical period of visual development, with growing evidence supporting the potential efficacy of emerging, more engaging, binocular therapies in both adults and children.

Introduction: In 2015, a protocol including early laparoscopy-assisted surgery in the treatment of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) was implemented at our institution. Carbon dioxide insufflation during laparoscopy may have an anti-inflammatory effect. We aimed to compare post-operative outcome after early laparoscopy-assisted surgery and classical laparotomy for NEC.

Background: It is unclear whether peripheral arterial cannulation is superior to central arterial cannulation for postcardiotomy veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO).
Methods: A systematic review was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar to identify studies on postcardiotomy VA-ECMO for the present individual patient data (IPD) meta-analysis. Analysis was performed according to the intention-to-treat principle.

Collapsin response mediator proteins (CRMPs) are key for brain development and function. Here, we link CRMP1 to a neurodevelopmental disorder. We report heterozygous de novo variants in the gene in three unrelated individuals with muscular hypotonia, intellectual disability, and/or autism spectrum disorder.

Introduction: This study aimed to explore the lived experience of mental health professionals (mhPs) who had been redeployed on support teams (MHSTs) implemented in general hospital for patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and their families, in order to scale up mental and physical health care integration in times of epidemic crisis.
Methods: This multicentered qualitative study followed an IPSE (Inductive Process to analyze the Structure of lived Experience) research design. MhPs' recruitment took place in three general hospitals of Seine-Seine-Denis department, in Paris suburbs (France).

Background: Iatrogenic withdrawal syndrome (IWS) is a complication of prolonged sedation/analgesia in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) patients. The epidemiology of IWS is poorly understood, as validated diagnostic tools are rarely used. The main objective of our study was to use the WAT-1 score to assess the incidence of IWS in our unit.

We assessed relationships between early peripheral blood type I interferons (IFN) levels, clinical new early warning scores (NEWS), and clinical outcomes in hospitalized coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) adult patients. Early IFN-β levels were lower among patients who further required intensive care unit (ICU) admission than those measured in patients who did not require an ICU admission during severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 infection. IFN-β levels were inversely correlated with NEWS only in the subgroup of patients who further required ICU admission.
