Introduction: Bartholin's gland abscesses are rare in pediatric patients, with limited documented cases. This case report aims to contribute valuable insights into managing this uncommon condition in children.
Methods: A thorough examination and diagnostic workup were conducted on a 4-month-old female infant presenting with labial swelling.
Progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) with normal circulating gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase levels can result from mutations in the gene (encoding familial intrahepatic cholestasis 1 [FIC1] deficiency) or the gene (bile salt export protein [BSEP] deficiency). We investigated the outcomes of partial external biliary diversion, ileal exclusion, and liver transplantation in these two conditions. We conducted a retrospective multicenter study of 42 patients with FIC1 deficiency (FIC1 patients) and 60 patients with BSEP deficiency (BSEP patients) who had undergone one or more surgical procedures (57 diversions, 6 exclusions, and 57 transplants).

Background And Objectives: Laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation are associated with hemodynamic responses that might increase morbidity and mortality in some patients. Lornoxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, which, when added to fentanyl, successfully attenuated the pressor response of intubation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of lornoxicam on the hemodynamic response and serum catecholamine levels following laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation.

A 26-year-old lady with end stage renal disease who received a cadaveric renal transplant, presented with ureteral stenosis as well as calyceal rupture due to hydronephrosis that was unresponsive to balloon dilation and the allograft was salvaged by a side to side ureteroneocystostomy. The symptoms and renal function improved and patency of the side to side uretroneocystostomy was confirmed post operatively and also at seventeen month follow-up. It may be reasonable to treat post-transplant ureteral stenosis resistant to balloon dilation with this technique.

Takayasu's arteritis and inflammatory bowel disease are rarely found together, although the number of cases reported in the literature is increasing. Takayasu's arteritis has been studied in 31 patients from the Arab world but in none of them was it associated with Crohn's disease. We report the case of a Saudi woman previously diagnosed with Crohn's disease who subsequently developed Takayasu's arteritis, which may represent one of many extra-intestinal manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease.

Renal transplantation has evolved as the best treatment option for patients with end-stage renal disease. Different oral problems arise in these patients, either as a direct consequence of drug-induced immunosuppression or pharmacokinetics. To determine the prevalence of intra-oral lesions in a group of medically stable Saudi renal transplant patients (RTP) and to identify possible risk factors, in comparison with age and sex-matched healthy control subjects (HCS), we studied 58 RTP and 52 HCS.

Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has been shown to be particularly useful, safe and effective treatment in the management of patients with refractory angina pectoris and those unsuitable for percutaneous or surgical revascularisation. Clinical and experimental research has shown that it decreases myocardial ischemia without masking the clinical symptoms of its imminent development. In addition to providing pain relief, neurostimulation has also been shown to improve microcirculatory blood flow and increase the myocardial threshold for ischaemia.

We describe a bilateral leukocoria and neonatal purpura fulminans in a male infant, born at full term after an unremarkable pregnancy to a healthy consanguineous married couple. Multiple hemorrhagic skin bullae were found at birth on various parts of the body with bilateral leukocoria, organized vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment, and intracranial hemorrhage with undetectable levels of protein C activity. We report a clinical case of homozygous protein-C deficiency with severe purpura fulminans and bilateral leukocoria.
