Capnocytophaga canimorsus is a bacteria commonly found in the normal oral cavity of dogs that can cause bacteremia in immunocompromised patients following a dog bite. This case describes sepsis and disseminated intravascular coagulation associated with C. canimorsus in a patient with a history of alcohol abuse.

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare ulcerative skin disease commonly associated with pathergy and systemic comorbidities. We present the case of a patient who experienced two episodes of PG following consecutive dermatologic surgeries to the left hand. The initial PG ulcerations occurred simultaneously following Mohs surgery and a standard elliptical excision.

Randall Thomas is assistant director of the foot and ankle surgery residency program at Clintonville Dublin Foot & Ankle Group at Grant Medical Center in Columbus Ohio.
