Introduction: The widespread use of cell phone in recent years has raised many questions whether their use is safe to operator who is exposed to Electromagnetic Waves (EMV).

Aim: To find out the effect of cell phone emitted radiations on the orofacial structures.

Materials And Methods: To identify suitable literature, an electronic search was performed using Medline, Pubmed and EBSCO host database in December 2016.

Push-out bond strength of different endodontic obturation material at three different sites - study.

Background: The key to success of any root canal therapy is adequate obturation of the prepared root canal space. Root canal sealers are not dimensionally stable and might dissolve partially over a period of time. The objective of this study is to evaluate the push-out bond strength to intraradicular dentin of two endodontic obturation materials.

Herpes zoster: A clinicocytopathological insight.

Herpes zoster or shingles is reactivation of the varicella zoster virus that had entered the cutaneous nerve endings during an earlier episode of chicken pox traveled to the dorsal root ganglia and remained in a latent form. This condition is characterized by occurrence of multiple, painful, unilateral vesicles and ulceration which shows a typical single dermatome involvement. In this case report, we present a patient with herpes zoster involving the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve, with unilateral vesicles over the right side of lower third of face along the trigeminal nerve tract, with intraoral involvement of buccal mucosa, labial mucosa and the tongue of the same side.

Nonsurgical Periodontal Therapy decreases the Severity of Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Case-control Study.

Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and periodontitis are common chronic inflammatory conditions. Several studies suggested a relationship between RA and periodontitis. Recent studies have shown a beneficial effect of periodontal treatment on the severity of active RA.

Pendulum Therapy of Molar Distalization in Mixed Dentition.

Early and timely pedo-orthodontic treatment is aimed at eliminating the disturbances of skeletal or dentoalveolar development, to harmonize the stomatognathic system before the full eruption of all permanent teeth. The advantages of pendulum appliance are its minimal dependence on patient's compliance (child cooperation), ease of fabrication, onetime activation and adjustment of the springs if necessary to correct minor transverse and vertical molar positions. This article reports a successful treatment method of class II malocclusion with pendulum appliance in mixed dentition phase.

Comparison of specimen adequacy and smear quality in oral smears prepared by manual liquid-based cytology and conventional methods.

Background: Liquid-based cytology (LBC), recommended in the mass screening of potentially malignant cervical and oral lesions, suffers from high cost owing to the use of expensive automated devices and materials. Considering the need for cost-effective LBC techniques, we evaluated the efficacy of an inexpensive manual LBC (MLBC) technique against conventional cytological technique in terms of specimen adequacy and smear quality of oral smears.

Materials And Methods: Cytological samples were collected from 21 patients using a cytobrush device.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is routinely recommended for dental diagnosis and treatment planning. CBCT exposes patients to less radiation than does conventional CT. Still, lack of proper education among dentists and specialists is resulting in improper referral for CBCT.

Management of Class-II Furcation Complicated with Endodontic involvement using Two Different Regenerative Materials.

This paper presents a case series of furcation involved teeth complicated with endodontic involvement which were treated with periodontal, endodontic and restorative procedures using different bone regenerative materials like; (a) Calcium phosphosilicate bone substitute having bioactive glass 69% mixed with glycerin 19% and poly-ethylene 12% dispensed in a putty form; (b) hydroxyapatite 70% and β-tricalcium phosphate 30% dispensed in granular form. All the cases were randomly selected having Grade II furcation defect with primary or secondary endodontic involvement. All cases were under observation for a period of 9 months.

Evaluation of Fracture Resistance of Endodontically Treated Teeth Filled with Gutta-Percha and Resilon Obturating Material: An In Vitro Study.

Background: As per many studies endodontically treated teeth are widely considered to be more susceptible to fracture than vital teeth. Obturation strains and post placement have been a major cause of vertical root fracture. Present study was conducted to compare in vitro fracture resistance after filling with either Gutta-percha or Resilon by lateral condensation techniques in root canals.

A study of lip prints and its reliability as a forensic tool.

Introduction: Lip prints, like fingerprints, are unique to an individual and can be easily recorded. Therefore, we compared direct and indirect lip print patterns in males and females of different age groups, studied the inter- and intraobserver bias in recording the data, and observed any changes in the lip print patterns over a period of time, thereby, assessing the reliability of lip prints as a forensic tool.

Materials And Methods: Fifty females and 50 males in the age group of 15 to 35 years were selected for the study.

Introduction: Simvastatin, a common cholesterol-lowering drug that inhibits hepatic hydroxymethylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in the mevalonate pathway, increases expression of the BMP-2 gene and thus promotes bone regeneration.

Materials And Methods: A study was conducted in mandibular third molar sockets to study the efficacy of the drug by implanting it into sockets (experimental group) and observations were made over 3 months to compare the healing with the (control group).

Conclusion: The results showed faster regeneration of the bone in the simvastatin site using the gray level histogram values.

Evaluation and comparison of resistance to compression of various interocclusal recording media: an in vitro study.

Background: This in vitro study was conducted to compare the compression resistance of various interocclusal recording materials when subjected to a compressive load.

Materials And Methods: Each interocclusal recording material was manipulated according to the manufacturer instruction and placed into a metallic cylinder. A total of 20 specimens for each interocclusal recording material were made.

Comparative Evaluation of Effect of Water Absorption on the Surface Properties of Heat Cure Acrylic: An in vitro Study.

Background: Use of alkaline peroxide denture cleanser with different temperature of water could cause a change in surface hardness of the acrylic denture and also has a bleaching effect. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of increased water content during thermal cycling of hot water-treated acrylic on the surface hardness of acrylic denture base when compared to warm water treated acrylic. And to compare the bleaching effect of alkaline peroxide solution on the acrylic denture base on hot water and warm water treated acrylic.

Anatomical design, thin margins, lifelike fingernails and realistic color/contours are essential for patient satisfaction. Prosthesis is especially useful in case of lost body parts, as reconstructive surgery cannot fully restore aesthetics.

Titanium allergy: a literature review.

Titanium has gained immense popularity and has successfully established itself as the material of choice for dental implants. In both medical and dental fields, titanium and its alloys have demonstrated success as biomedical devices. Owing to its high resistance to corrosion in a physiological environment and the excellent biocompatibility that gives it a passive, stable oxide film, titanium is considered the material of choice for intraosseous use.

A comparative study of retention of complete denture base with different types of posterior palatal seals - an in vivo study.

Aim: To evaluate retention of complete denture base with different types of posterior palatal seals.

Material And Methods: Ten male patients between the age group of 50 years to 60 years were selected for the study. After the primary and secondary impressions were taken, five casts were made including a cast without posterior palatal seal, a cast with single bead posterior palatal seal, a cast with double bead posterior palatal seal, a cast with butterfly shaped posterior palatal seal, and a cast with posterior palatal seal with low fusing compound by functional method.

The most common role of the forensic dentist is the identification of deceased individuals. Forensic identification based on assessment of prosthodontic appliances is assuming greater significance, as labeling of dentures and other prosthetic appliance could provide vital clues for patient identification.

The effect of different chemical surface treatments of denture teeth on shear bond strength: a comparative study.

Background: The development of better cross linked acrylic resin teeth has solved the problems related to wearing and discoloration of acrylic teeth. The same cross linking at ridge lap region acts as a double edge sword as it weakens the bond between denture base and tooth.

Aim Of Study: The purpose of study was to evaluate the effect of surface treatment on the bond strength of resin teeth to denture base resin using monomethyl methacrylate monomer and dichloromethane with no surface treatment acting as control.
