Epidermoid tumors (ET) are congenital and benign tumors that develop from de ectoderm during neurogenesis. In the skull base, these lesions can insinuate themselves into several intracranial compartments by filling the subarachnoid space, and possibly affecting some important structures, like the brainstem, cerebellopontine angle, the pituitary in the middle fossa, and others. In the pediatrics skull base tumors, the ET represents 7-9%, being very rare.

Robin Sequence: Neonatal Mandibular Distraction.

Clin Plast Surg

July 2021

Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery, Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery, NYU Langone Health, 222 East 41st Street, 22nd floor, New York, NY, 10017, USA. Electronic address:

Pierre Robin sequence is defined by the clinical triad: mandibular hypoplasia, glossoptosis, and airway obstruction. Mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO) is a standard treatment of Robin sequence associated with severe airway obstruction and is the only intervention that directly corrects the underlying anatomic pathologic condition. Compared with tongue-lip adhesion, MDO has demonstrated more success in treating airway obstruction in infants with Pierre Robin sequence, including patients with syndromic diagnoses and concomitant anomalies.

Background: Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is an autosomal recessive inherited metabolic disorder caused by the deficient activity of the branched-chain α-keto acid dehydrogenase (BCKD) enzymatic complex. BCKD is a mitochondrial complex encoded by four genes: BCKDHA, BCKDHB, DBT, and DLD. MSUD is predominantly caused by mutations in the BCKDHA, BCKDHB, and DBT genes which encode the E1α, E1β, and E2 subunits of the BCKD complex, respectively.

In forced conditions, where the heart rate and step frequency have been matched, cardiolocomotor synchronization (CLS) has been recognized. However, knowledge about the occurrence of CLS and its triggers in sports gesture in real contexts is little known. To address this gap, the current study tested the hypothesis that CLS in running spontaneous conditions would emerge at entrainment bands of muscle activation frequencies associated with a freely chosen step frequency.
