Advances in the field of omics have led to a significant expansion in biomarkers identified for complications after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Biomarkers can offer an effective method for early identification of a specific disease and can be used to guide therapies. Ongoing investigations to discover biomarkers for acute graft-versus-host disease as well as other post-HSCT complications may improve early diagnosis, prognosis, and the development of new therapeutic targets.

Surgical indications for individuals with neuropathic bladder include unsafe urinary storage pressures, progressive upper tract deterioration, and continued urinary incontinence that is recalcitrant to oral pharmacologic or intradetrusor injection therapy and intermittent catheterization. Bladder augmentation is currently the gold standard surgical procedure used to increase bladder capacity and reduce storage pressures but has significant long-term risks. The medical and surgical management of neuropathic bladder, as well as long-term consequences of bladder augmentation, are reviewed.

Purpose: Children with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and superior cavopulmonary anastomoses (SCPA) can have chronically elevated central venous pressure (CVP), which has been postulated to put patients at risk for cerebral ventriculomegaly. We aimed to examine cerebral ventricle size in children with these congenital heart lesions before and after surgery to determine how changes in CVP affect ventricle size.
Methods: We reviewed the records of patients who underwent SCPA or TOF repair between 2006 and 2015.

Juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus (jSLE), mixed connective tissue disease (jMCTD), and Sjögren syndrome (jSS) are systemic autoimmune and inflammatory disorders with distinct patterns of organ involvement. All are characterized by autoantibody formation, with antinuclear (ANA) and anti-double-stranded DNA common in jSLE, ANA with high-titer ribonucleoprotein antibody in jMCTD, and Sjögren syndrome A and Sjögren syndrome B antibodies + ANA in jSS. Recognition, monitoring, and management for primary care providers are discussed, focusing on the role of primary physicians in recognizing and helping maintain optimal health in children with these potentially life-threatening diseases.

Purpose Of Review: The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is used both in clinical practice and research to assess glucose tolerance. In addition, the OGTT is utilized for surrogate measures of insulin sensitivity and the insulin response to enteral glucose and has been widely applied in the evaluation of β-cell dysfunction in obesity, prediabetes, and type 2 diabetes. Here we review the use of the OGTT and the OGTT-derived indices for measurement of risk markers for type 2 diabetes in youth.

Purpose: To compare the outcomes of paediatric and adolescent extracranial malignant germ cell tumour (GCT) patients treated with either carboplatin or cisplatin on clinical trials conducted by the Children's Oncology Group (COG) and the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG).
Methods: The Malignant Germ Cell International Consortium (MaGIC) has created a database of the GCT clinical trials conducted since 1983 by COG (United States, Canada and Australia), which used cisplatin-based regimens, and by CCLG (United Kingdom), which used carboplatin-based regimens. Using the parametric cure model, this study compared the overall 4-year event-free survival (EFS), stratified by age, stage, site and the a-priori defined MaGIC 'risk' groups: standard risk ((SR) 1 (EFS >80%; age <11 years), SR2 (EFS >80%, age ≥ 11y) and poor risk (PR) (EFS ≤ 70%, age ≥ 11y).
