- CT-guided transthoracic core needle biopsy (TCNB) is a minimally invasive method used to diagnose small pleural lesions (less than 10 mm) when there is loculated pleural effusion, thus offering a valuable diagnostic option.
- In a study of 56 patients, TCNB showed high sensitivity (84.6%) and specificity (100%), with overall diagnostic accuracy at 89.3%, demonstrating its effectiveness in identifying small pleural lesions.

- Thyroid cancer (TC) is currently the most prevalent endocrine cancer, with an increase in cases, particularly the papillary type, that can't solely be attributed to improved diagnosis.
- Factors contributing to the rising incidence of TC include genetic changes, iodine levels, TSH levels, autoimmune conditions, gender differences, obesity, lifestyle, and environmental pollutants.
- So far, childhood exposure to ionizing radiation is the only fully confirmed risk factor, indicating that additional research is needed to explore other possible carcinogens, especially those affecting early development.

Background: Since current evidences support a negative influence of tobacco smoking on the periodontal bone, an increased prevalence or severity of periapical lesions would be expected among smokers. The aim of this study was to investigate the difference in the periapical status of endodontically treated and untreated teeth in current smokers and never-smokers.
Methods: The cross-sectional study included 259 subjects, 108 current smokers and 151 never-smokers, presenting as new patients at the Dental Clinic of the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka, Croatia.

Primary melanocytic cerebral tumors form a spectrum of different lesions that range from benign to extremely malignant, such as an intracranial melanoma. This article points out some characteristics of primary melanocytic cerebral tumors and discusses their management and prognosis, based on a systematic literature review and a case of primary cerebral malignant melanoma.Because the biological characteristics of primary melanocytic cerebral tumors remain unclear, it appears that total surgical resection of the tumor followed by oncologic treatment is the mainstay of the management.
