Hypertension is a widely prevalent disease and uncontrolled hypertension predisposes affected individuals to severe adverse effects. Though the importance of controlling hypertension is clear, the multitude of therapeutic regimens and patient factors that affect the success of blood pressure control makes it difficult to predict the likelihood to predict whether a patient's blood pressure will be controlled. This project endeavors to investigate whether machine learning can accurately predict the control of a patient's hypertension within 12 months of a clinical encounter.

Purpose: Obesity has been identified as a risk factor for postoperative complications in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). This study aimed to investigate patient-reported outcomes, pain, and satisfaction as a function of body mass index (BMI) class in patients undergoing THA.
Methods: 1736 patients within a prospective observational study were categorized into BMI classes.

Introduction: An overarching principle for the management of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a shared decision-making process between physicians and patients. The aim of this study is to assess the patient-physician relationship in a group of patients with PsA, by using the Perceived Efficacy in Patient-Physician Interactions (PEPPI) and CollaboRATE instruments.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional multicenter study where consecutive patients with PsA were enrolled.

Background: Intravenous iloprost has been widely used for the treatment of systemic sclerosis peripheral vasculopathy. No agreement has been found on the regimen and the dosage of intravenous iloprost in different scleroderma subset conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the modalities of intravenous iloprost administration within a large cohort of systemic sclerosis patients from the SPRING Registry and to identify any associated clinical-demographic, instrumental or therapeutic data.

Although numerous studies have acknowledged disparities in epilepsy-related disease processes between young and aged animals, little is known about how epilepsy changes from young adulthood to middle age. This study investigates the impact of aging on 6-Hz corneal kindling in young-adult mice and middle-aged mice. We found that the kindling acquisition of the 6-Hz corneal kindling model was delayed in middle-aged mice when compared to young-adult mice.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the effects of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) on the development of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in MRL/lpr mice.
Methods: MRL/lpr mice were treated with taVNS for ten weeks. Locus coeruleus (LC) tyrosine hydroxylase positive (TH) neurons were selectively lesioned by stereotactic injection of 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) or selectively activated by chemogenetic methods.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) related mortality and morbidity heavily strain society. The relationship between external risk factors and our genetics have not been well established. It is widely acknowledged that environmental influence and individual behaviours play a significant role in CVD vulnerability, leading to the development of polygenic risk scores (PRS).

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is challenging to diagnose and treat since symptoms appear late during the progression of atherosclerosis. alone are not always sufficient to properly categorize at-risk patients, and are inadequate in predicting cardiac events. Integrating (GBBM) found in plasma/serum samples with novel non-invasive (RBBM) such as plaque area, plaque burden, and maximum plaque height can improve composite CVD risk prediction in the pharmaceutical paradigm.

Background: Upadacitinib (UPA) is a selective JAK inhibitor recently approved for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). In this post-approval study, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of UPA over 24 weeks and identify clinical predictors of response, in a multicentric cohort of patients affected by PsA.
Methods: One hundred and twenty-six patients with PsA treated with UPA were enrolled in 10 Italian centres.

Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha () rs1800629 (-308G>A) is a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) related to variable responses to anti- therapy. This therapy is efficient in severe and refractory manifestation of Behçet syndrome (BS), an auto-inflammatory systemic vasculitis. We investigated (1) the association between rs1800629 genotypes and responses to therapy and (2) the correlation between SNP and clinical patterns in a cohort of 74 BS Italian patients receiving anti- therapy with a follow-up of at least 12 months.

Cyclophosphamide (CYC) has been a gold standard of treatment for severe progressive Systemic Sclerosis (SSc), especially in patients with concomitant interstitial lung disease (ILD). This approach was based on results of several interventional studies, including randomized control trials, which mainly addressed SSc-ILD as a primary end point and skin involvement as a second one. The use of CYC is time-limited due to significant adverse events.

The challenges associated with diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease (CVD)/Stroke in Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) arise from the delayed onset of symptoms. Existing clinical risk scores are inadequate in predicting cardiac events, and conventional risk factors alone do not accurately classify many individuals at risk. Several CVD biomarkers consider the multiple pathways involved in the development of atherosclerosis, which is the primary cause of CVD/Stroke in RA.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a chronic immune-mediated disease characterized by microangiopathy, immune dysregulation, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Though not fully understood, the pathogenesis of SSc is dominated by microvascular injury, endothelial dysregulation, and immune response that are thought to be associated with fibroblast activation and related fibrogenesis. Among the main clinical subsets, diffuse SSc (dSSc) is a progressive form with rapid and disseminated skin thickening accompanied by internal organ fibrosis and dysfunction.

Background: Identifying subjects at risk of imminent psoriatic arthritis (PsA) would allow these subjects to participate in therapeutic interventions to delay or prevent PsA development.
Methods: A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted in 2021 in Medline, Embase, PubMed, Central databases and international congress abstracts (PROSPERO CRD42022255102). All articles reporting the characteristics of patients transitioning from psoriasis (PsO) to PsA and from undifferentiated arthritis (UA) to PsA were included.

Background And Motivation: Lung computed tomography (CT) techniques are high-resolution and are well adopted in the intensive care unit (ICU) for COVID-19 disease control classification. Most artificial intelligence (AI) systems do not undergo generalization and are typically overfitted. Such trained AI systems are not practical for clinical settings and therefore do not give accurate results when executed on unseen data sets.
