: Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a multifactorial pain syndrome not only characterized by widespread pain as the primary symptom but also accompanied by physical, psychological, and cognitive manifestations. Impairments in conditioned pain modulation (CPM) are common in this population; however, there is significant heterogeneity in the CPM response among women with FMS. The Left/Right Judgment Task (LRJT) is a validated method for studying motor imagery in chronic pain patients.

Mesoporous materials with high surface area, large pore volume, and adjustable pore size are promising in the fields of adsorption and heterogeneous catalysis. In this work, ordered mesoporous ceria structures were successfully prepared via nanocasting using SBA-15 as a template, with Ce(NO)·6HO or CeCl·7HO as ceria precursors. The materials were characterized before and after template removal.

The study of microRNAs (miRNAs) has emerged in recent decades as a key approach to understanding the pathophysiology of many diseases, exploring their potential role as biomarkers, and testing their use as future treatments. Not only have neurological, cardiovascular diseases, or cancer benefited from this research but also infertility. Female infertility, as a disease, involves alterations at multiple levels, such as ovarian and uterine alterations.

Purpose: In world-class middle- and long-distance running races, a Wavelight signal has recently been used as a pacing guide for setting records. The aim of the present study was to compare performance and psychophysiological effects between light-guided, drafting, and nonassisted pacing conditions in distance runners.
Methods: Fifteen male middle- and long-distance runners of national and regional standard ran three 5000-m time trials in a counterbalanced order with the following pacing distribution: the first 4000 m and last 1000 m were covered at submaximal and maximal intensities, respectively.

Purpose: To develop and assess the validity of a simple and potentially useful tool with measures to enhance adherence to exercise programs to be used by researchers and exercise professionals when designing exercise interventions in people with long-term health conditions and older adults.
Materials And Methods: Based on a previous umbrella review, a checklist with key aspects for adherence to physical exercise named Promoting Adherence to Physical Exercise (PADEX) was created in Spanish. Subsequently, an evaluation of the comprehensibility, relevance, and applicability using a quantitative [0-10 points] and qualitative approach was performed by a panel of 31 independent experts.

Objective: To develop a supervised machine learning model to predict the occurrence and intensity of tooth sensitivity (TS) in patients undergoing in-office dental bleaching testing various algorithm models.
Materials And Methods: Retrospective data from 458 patients were analyzed, including variables such as the occurrence and intensity of TS, basal tooth color, bleaching material characteristics (concentration and pH), intervention details (number and duration of applications), and patient age. Classification and regression models were evaluated using 5-fold cross-validation and assessed based on various performance parameters.

Background: Chronic low back pain is associated with dysfunctions in endogenous analgesia mechanisms, as evaluated through conditioned pain modulation paradigms. Although mobilization with movement has demonstrated enhancements in conditioned pain modulation among patients with conditions such as knee osteoarthritis, its efficacy in chronic low back pain patients has yet to be established.
Objectives: To investigate the effects of mobilization with movement compared to sham mobilization in conditioned pain modulation, mechanical hyperalgesia, and pain intensity in chronic low back pain patients.

Normal science is about assessing what is already known about a topic, about what needs to be known, and careful methods to collect the data required to answer the scientific question. It is the mainstay of scientific progress. But sometimes, luck or chance (eg, serendipity) plays a significant role in scientific process.

People with chronic pain mitigate their suffering by the action of opioids. Adverse reactions aside, opioids are not exempt from potential complications like addiction and abuse, which have posed a global public health problem lately. Finding new therapeutic strategies to improve analgesia and to reduce opioid side effects has become a priority.

Background: The secondary consequences of surgical site occurrences, especially surgical site infections, worsen the patient's outcomes while significantly increasing health care costs. The implementation of preventive measures to reduce this complication rate should be one of the priorities to improve health care.
Methods: A randomized, open-label clinical trial was conducted between March 2019 and March 2021 in a general surgery department.

Aldol condensation of biomass-derived compounds offers a sustainable route to jet fuel precursors. This study explores catalysts based on nanocrystalline ZSM-5 zeolite (n-ZSM-5) modified with various metals (Ca, Mg, Sn, Ti, Zr) for the aldol condensation of furfural (FFL) and cyclopentanone (CPO). While both reactants can enter the ZSM-5 micropores, the resulting C10 (FC) and C15 (FC) adducts are too large to be formed within or to exit the microporosity, being instead produced over the external acid sites.

The introduction of Diels-Alder (D-A) bonds into epoxy resins is a promising pathway to convert these unrecyclable materials into sustainable materials. However, D-A bonds make epoxy resins extremely brittle materials and hinder their practical usability. Nonetheless, the reversibility of D-A bonds allows the transition of the material to a de-crosslinked network formed by separated oligomers that can melt above 90-100 °C.

Background: It can be affirmed that the parenting style of parents has an impact on the health-related behaviors of their children; the environment that parents create for their children can have an impact on both their habits and their oral health, and on the incidence of dental caries in children. The purpose of this study was to analyze the association between parenting style and childhood dental caries.
Methods: Two researchers independently searched the English literature published up to May 2024 in four databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus y Cochrane Library).

Glutathione peroxidases (GPxs) are a family of enzymes that play a critical role in cellular redox homeostasis through the reduction of lipid hydroperoxides to alcohols, using glutathione as a substrate. Among them, GPx4 is particularly of interest in the regulation of ferroptosis, a form of iron-dependent programmed cell death driven by the accumulation of lipid peroxides in the endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, and plasma membrane. Ferroptosis has emerged as a crucial pathway in the context of cancer, particularly pancreatic cancer, which is notoriously resistant to conventional therapies.
