Citrus juices represent a nutrient-dense beverage due to the remarkable balance in their bioactive compounds (vitamins, minerals, dietary fibers, and phytochemicals such as flavonoids and carotenoids). This review aims to examine the nutritional quality and the health benefits of citrus juice consumption linked to the world diversity of citrus fruits. This work provides heterogenous data found on the main citrus bioactive compounds, especially carotenoids and flavonoids, which are difficult to correlate to particular geographic areas.

Purpose: Opioids are frequently used to treat pain in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) with fentanyl, morphine and sufentanil being mainly used agents. Equianalgesic potency between opioids is not clearly described in the neonatal population. The aim of this study was to compare theoretical and actual equipotent conversion ratios between morphine, sufentanil and fentanyl based on prescriptions.

Marine algae are renowned for their health benefits due to the presence of functional bioactive compounds. In this context, this study aims to valorize the extract of a seaweed, (), through phytochemical characterization using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), as well as in vitro and in silico evaluation of its biological activities (antioxidant and antimicrobial). Phytochemical characterization revealed that the ethanolic extract of (DdEx) is rich in phenolic compounds, with a total of 22 phycocompounds identified.

Phytate in plants (inositol phosphates, InsPs) affects mineral bioavailability. However, methods for their quantification may lead to variable results, and some are nonspecific (spectrophotometric techniques). In this study, ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was coupled with post-column derivatization to allow fluorescence detection (FLD, λ324/λ364 nm) of InsPs.

Now that it has been realized that viruses are ubiquitous, questions have been raised on factors influencing their diversity and distribution. For phytoviruses, understanding the interplay between plant diversity and virus species richness and prevalence remains cardinal. As both the amplification and the dilution of viral species richness due to increasing host diversity have been theorized and observed, a deeper understanding of how plants and viruses interact in natural environments is needed to explore how host availability conditions viral diversity and distributions.

Objectives: To evaluate the relative importance of changing paternity ("primipaternity", direct inquiry with patients) in multiparas versus prolonged birth/pregnancy interval as risk factors for preeclampsia (PE) by a logistic regression model comparing the adjusted odds ratios of both exposures.
Design: Assessment of all consecutive singleton deliveries (from 22 weeks onwards) at South-Reunion University's maternity (Reunion Island, Indian Ocean) over 23 years (2001-2023) using an epidemiological perinatal database on obstetrical factors (264 items in total, of which, chronic or gestational hypertension, proteinuria, HELLP syndrome).
Results: Among the 53,572 multiparous singleton pregnancies, we identified 33,312 (62%) of multiparas who gave consecutive births, allowing calculation of birth intervals.

An increasing consumer demand for plant-based and high-protein options, motivated by health and sustainability, has resulted in a surge of food innovation in this area. Incorporating alternative plant sources, such as pulses and pseudocereals, has been proven to enhance the nutritional profile of baked products. However, these can also negatively impact the yeasted bread acceptability.

Introduction: Temocillin is a semi-synthetic β-lactam with a narrow spectrum but high stability against hydrolysis by β-lactamases, including AmpC. Despite its favourable properties, data regarding its clinical value in the treatment of AmpC β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ABPE) infections are scarce. Most recent guidelines do not include temocillin in the therapeutic strategy for ABPE infection.

This report presents an extremely rare case of a fungal mycotic aneurysm due to Magnusiomyces capitatus in a 51-year-old woman who is immunocompromised. The diagnosis was based on multiple computed tomography scans and the identification of the pathogen via sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer region. Long-term treatment with caspofungin for previous candidemia likely promoted the dissemination of this intrinsically echinocandin-resistant fungus from colonization sites in the lungs and rectal area.

Background: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) patients benefit from pre-mRNA splicing modifiers targeting the SMN2 gene, which aims to increase functional SMN production. The animal toxicity affecting spermatogenesis associated with one such treatment raised questions about male SMA patients' spermatogenesis.
Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2022 to July 2023.

OSBP ligands from the ORPphilin family are chemically complex natural products with promising anticancer properties. Here, we describe macarangin B, a natural racemic flavonoid selective for OSBP, which stands out from other ORPphilins due to its structural simplicity and distinct biological activity. Using a bioinspired strategy, we synthesized both (,,) and (,,)-macarangin B enantiomers, enabling us to study their interaction with OSBP based on their unique optical properties.

Lipid oxidative degradation contributes to the deterioration of food quality and poses potential health risks. A promising approach to counteract this is the use of plant-based antioxidants. However, accurately evaluating the antioxidant capacity and effectiveness of these compounds remains a challenge.

Background: Poly (ADP ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPis) are a treatment option for patients with advanced high-grade serous or endometrioid ovarian carcinoma (OC). Recent guidelines have clarified how homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) may influence treatment decision-making in this setting. As a result, numerous companion diagnostic assays (CDx) have been developed to identify HRD.

Retinoblastoma (RB) proteins are highly conserved transcriptional regulators that play important roles during development by regulating cell-cycle gene expression. RBL2 dysfunction has been linked to a severe neurodevelopmental disorder. However, to date, clinical features have only been described in six individuals carrying five biallelic predicted loss of function (pLOF) variants.

In an era of trade globalization and climate change, crop pathogens and pests are a genuine threat to food security. The detailed characterization of emerging pathogen populations is a prerequisite for managing invasive species pathways and designing sustainable disease control strategies. Huanglongbing is the disease that causes the most damage to citrus, a crop that ranks #1 worldwide in terms of fruit production.

Fossils and other preserved specimens are integral for informing timing and evolutionary history in every biological system. By isolating a plant pathogen genome from herbarium-preserved diseased grapevine material from 1906 (Herb_1906), we were able to answer questions about an enigmatic system. The emergence of Pierce's disease (PD) of grapevine has shaped viticultural production in North America; yet, there are uncertainties about the geographic origin of the pathogen (Xylella fastidiosa subsp.
