National Clinical Research Center for Ocular Diseases, Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, 270 Xueyuan Road, Wenzhou, Zhejiang 325027, China. Electronic address:
Objective: To quantify retinal morphological characteristics in patients with myopic traction maculopathy (MTM), including myopic foveoschisis (MF), using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and investigate the correlation of MTM with visual function.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 19 eyes with myopic foveoschisis (MF) and foveal detachment (FD), 37 eyes with MF without FD, and 24 myopic eyes as control. OCTA was used to assess macular vessel density (VD) in the superficial capillary plexus (SCP), deep capillary plexus (DCP), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, FAZ perimeter, acircularity index, retinal thickness, and retinal volume.

Purpose: To describe vascular anomalies and nonperfusion areas (NPAs) of stage 4 familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) with radial retinal folds (RFs) and analyze their potential clinical significance.
Methods: Retinal detachment (RD) could exceed the RFs due to exudative, rhegmatogenous, or tractional factors, which we could call secondary RD. Fluorescein fundus angiography (FFA) and risk factors for progression to secondary RD of pediatric stage 4 FEVR patients with radial RFs were respectively explored.

Purpose: To present a case of aggressive proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) managed with intraoperative and postoperative intravitreal methotrexate (MTX) in a patient with congenital aniridia (CI).
Observations: A 41-year-old female with a history of CI, living-related conjunctival-kerato-limbal allograft transplantation, and multiple intraocular surgeries presents with tractional retinal detachment (TRD) and aggressive grade C PVR 52 days after a primary 23-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment repair. She underwent 23-gauge PPV, TRD repair including membrane peeling of pre- and sub-retinal PVR, 5000 centistoke silicone oil exchange, endolaser, and MTX infusion.

To describe the ophthalmic outcomes and complications after silicone oil (SO) removal. This nonrandomized retrospective review comprised patients who had SO removal from January 2020 to December 2022. Data collected included patient demographics, visual acuity (VA), intraocular pressure (IOP), initial tamponade, indication for SO placement, duration of SO in the eye, indication for SO removal, cataract progression, rates of retinal redetachment, cornea-related complications, additional surgical interventions, and other complications.

To evaluate the use of antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) as treatment for tractional retinal detachments (TRDs) involving the macula. A case report was evaluated. A 40-year-old man with a medical history notable for congenital heart disease and proliferative diabetic retinopathy presented with decreased vision.

To present a combined surgical approach for repair of a persistent full-thickness macular hole (MH) in patients with myopic traction maculopathy. Two cases were evaluated. Combining a macular buckle and pars plana vitrectomy with a controlled subretinal injection of a balanced salt solution resulted in MH closure and vision improvement in both cases.

Purpose: To report a case of neovascular glaucoma in an 8-year-old male, secondary to a racemose hemangioma without associated intracranial arteriovenous malformation, highlighting the challenges in management and novel findings on optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Observations: An 8-year-old male initially presented with pain, redness, and blurred vision in the right eye. The patient was diagnosed with secondary neovascular glaucoma due to a racemose hemangioma.
Purpose: To study the effectiveness and safety of pneumatic vitreolysis (PVL) for the treatment of symptomatic vitreomacular traction (VMT) and macular holes (MHs) with VMT.
Methods: This was a retrospective, monocentric analysis of 92 consecutive VMT (±MH) patients treated with PVL at University Hospitals Leuven between January 2022 and March 2024.
Results: Release of VMT occurred in 60% of the patients who had VMT and in 86% of the patients who had MHs.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to document and analyze a rare case of spontaneous retinal reattachment in a patient after successive unsuccessful vitreoretinal surgeries and to explore potential mechanisms contributing to this unexpected outcome.
Case Presentation: A 61-year-old patient with a history of high myopia presented with a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. After undergoing multiple vitreoretinal procedures, including pars plana vitrectomy with silicone oil tamponade, anatomical reattachment was not achieved, and the patient developed complex retinal detachment associated with myopic foveoschisis.

Purpose: Historically, supplemental dextrose to infusion fluid has been used to reduce the need for intraoperative lensectomies to maintain visualization during diabetic vitrectomy. Valved, small-gauge vitrectomy has reduced surgical time and decreased intraoperative fluid flow. Assessment of supplemental dextrose in modern vitrectomy is presented in this study.
