Influence of chemical treatment and interaction with matrix on room temperature phosphorescence of carbon dots.

In this work, composite materials were formed based on various matrices (polymer and porous cellulose matrix) and carbon dots (CDs) with intense room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP). The effect of post-synthesis chemical treatment with citric acid or urea on the optical properties of composites was studied: the increase in carboxy and carbonyl groups led to an increase of RTP signals that could be seen with the naked eye over several seconds. The fabricated composites demonstrated good stability and reversibility of RTP signals by mild heating.

Understanding health professional attitudes, knowledge, and beliefs about frailty is critical in understanding barriers and enablers to guideline implementation, and the aim of this study was to understand these in rehabilitation multidisciplinary teams in hospital settings.

Background: People with disabilities are marginalised in mainstream culture and they also experience increased restrictions in a variety of areas, such as sport. The barriers they encounter may adversely affect their life satisfaction, especially if they have a low perceived sense of autonomy and resilience. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between autonomy, resilience and life satisfaction in para-badminton athletes and the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between autonomy and life satisfaction.

Experimental laboratory models as tools for understanding modifiable dementia risk.

Experimental laboratory research has an important role to play in dementia prevention. Mechanisms underlying modifiable risk factors for dementia are promising targets for dementia prevention but are difficult to investigate in human populations due to technological constraints and confounds. Therefore, controlled laboratory experiments in models such as transgenic rodents, invertebrates and in vitro cultured cells are increasingly used to investigate dementia risk factors and test strategies which target them to prevent dementia.
