Purpose: Cerebral palsy (CP) is a major cause of childhood disability. Children with CP often lack motor skills to effectively perform activities of daily living. The aim is to assess the effectiveness of a functional intensive therapy program focused on improving individual goals in the domain of mobility and self-care in children and adolescents with CP.

Importance: Limited knowledge about interactions among health disorders impedes optimal patient care. Because comorbidities are common among patients 50 years and older with fractures, these fractures provide a useful setting for studying interactions among disorders.
Objective: To define multimorbidity clusters at the time of fracture and quantify the interaction between multimorbidity and fracture in association with postfracture excess mortality.

Electronic address:
Background: Preoperative rehabilitation (hereafter called "prehabilitation") has been proposed as a potentially effective treatment to target preoperative risk factors to prevent insufficient outcome after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Purpose: We aimed to assess whether previous clinical trials of non-surgical, non-pharmacological prehabilitation in individuals with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) awaiting TKA focused on specific clinical phenotypes or specific individual characteristics and whether the content of the prehabilitation was stratified accordingly. Second, we aimed to summarize and compare the long-term effects of stratified and non-stratified care on pain, satisfaction, function and quality of life.

Aim: This systematic review investigates the effectiveness of instructions and feedback with external focus applied with reduced frequency, self-controlled timing and/or in visual or auditory form, on the performance of functional gross motor tasks in children aged 2 to 18 with typical or atypical development.
Methods: Four databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase) were systematically searched (last updated May 31st 2021). Inclusion criteria were: 1.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 2-[F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (F-FDG) Positron Emission Tomography, paired with Computed Tomography (PET/CT) are commonly used modalities in the complicated diagnostic work-up of osteomyelitis. PET/MRI is a relatively novel hybrid modality with suggested applications in bone infection imaging, based on expert opinion and previous qualitative research. F-FDG PET/MRI has the advantages of reduced radiation dose, more soft tissue information, and is deemed more valuable for surgical planning compared to F-FDG PET/CT.

Purpose: To explore risk profiles of patients scheduled for lumbar spinal fusion (LSF) and their association with short-term recovery of patient after surgery.
Methods: Forty-nine patients scheduled for elective 1-3 level LSF between March 2019 and June 2020 were included. Patients underwent a preoperative risk screening, consisting of an anamnesis, questionnaires and physical performance tests.

Background: Instrumented treadmills have become more mainstream in clinical assessment of gait disorders in children, and are increasingly being applied as an alternative to overground gait analysis. Both approaches differ in multiple elements of set-up (, overground versus treadmill, Pug-in Gait versus Human Body Model-II), workflow (, limited amount of steps versus many successive steps) and post-processing of data (, different filter techniques). These individual elements have shown to affect gait.

Background: Total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) is increasingly used as a treatment for end-stage ankle arthropathy. However, TAA may be more sensitive to complications, failure and subsequent re-operations compared to ankle arthrodesis. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to generate an overview of complications of TAA surgery.

Following a spinal cord injury (SCI), an inflammatory immune reaction is triggered which results in advanced secondary tissue damage. The systemic post-SCI immune response is poorly understood. This study aimed to extensively analyse the circulating immune cell composition in traumatic SCI patients in relation to clinical parameters.

Background: Conventional radiographs and clinical reassessment are considered guides in managing clinically suspected scaphoid fractures. This is a unique study as it assessed the value of conventional radiographs and clinical reassessment in a cohort of patients, all of whom underwent additional imaging, regardless of the outcome of conventional radiographs and clinical reassessment.
Questions/purposes: (1) What is the diagnostic performance of conventional radiographs in patients with a clinically suspected scaphoid fracture compared with high-resolution peripheral quantitative CT (HR-pQCT)? (2) What is the diagnostic performance of clinical reassessment in patients with a clinically suspected scaphoid fracture compared with HR-pQCT? (3) What is the diagnostic performance of conventional radiographs and clinical reassessment combined compared with HR-pQCT?
Methods: Between December 2017 and October 2018, 162 patients with a clinically suspected scaphoid fracture presented to the emergency department (ED).

Objective: To investigate whether early changes in fear of movement (kinesiophobia), self-efficacy and catastrophizing were mediators of the relationship between allocation to the pre-habilitation intervention and later changes in health outcomes.
Methods: The original pre-habilitation trial (PREPARE, ISRCTN17115599) recruited 118 participants awaiting lumbar fusion surgery, half of whom received a prehabilitation intervention designed based on the modified fear-avoidance model and half of whom received usual care. Mediation analysis was performed to test each mediator separately.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the test-retest reliability, measurement error, and interpretability of new motor fatigability outcomes of grip and pinch strength for children with unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP).
Methods: Motor fatigability during grip and pinch strength was measured twice (within 48 hours) in both hands of 50 children (mean age = 11 years 2 months; 14, 31, and 5 children with Manual Ability Classification System levels I, II, and III, respectively) using a 30-second static and dynamic maximum exertion protocol. For static motor fatigability, the Static Fatigue Index (SFI) and mean force (Fmean) in the first (Fmean1) and last (Fmean3) 10 seconds were calculated.

Introduction: Patients with osteoporosis may suffer from a fracture after minimal trauma. Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) are among the most common fractures, often leading to substantial pain. There is a need for evidence-based conservative treatment to aid in the management of OVCFs.

Rationale And Objectives: Pro-inflammatory processes have been argued to play a role in conditions associated with cognitive decline and neurodegeneration, like aging and obesity. Only a limited number of studies have tried to measure both peripheral and central biomarkers of inflammation and examined their interrelationship. The primary aim of this study was to examine the hypothesis that chronic peripheral inflammation would be associated with neurometabolic changes that indicate neuroinflammation (the combined elevation of myoinositol and choline), brain gray matter volume decrease, and lower cognitive functioning in older adults.

Classification of musculoskeletal pain based on underlying pain mechanisms (nociceptive, neuropathic, and nociplastic pain) is challenging. In the absence of a gold standard, verification of features that could aid in discrimination between these mechanisms in clinical practice and research depends on expert consensus. This Delphi expert consensus study aimed to: (1) identify features and assessment findings that are unique to a pain mechanism category or shared between no more than 2 categories and (2) develop a ranked list of candidate features that could potentially discriminate between pain mechanisms.

Although systematic reviews are considered as central components in evidence-based practice, they currently face an important challenge to keep up with the exponential publication rate of clinical trials. After initial publication, only a minority of the systematic reviews are updated, and it often takes multiple years before these results become accessible. Consequently, many systematic reviews are not up to date, thereby increasing the time-gap between research findings and clinical practice.
