Chronic exposure to prenatal stress can impair neurogenesis and lead to irreversible cognitive and neuropsychiatric abnormalities in offspring. The retina is part of the nervous system; however, the impacts of prenatal stress on retinal neurogenesis and visual function remain unclear. This study examined how elevated prenatal glucocorticoid levels differentially affect retinal development in the offspring of pregnant mice exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS).

Objective: The emergence of bacteriophage-encoded endolysins hold significant promise as novel antibacterial agents, particularly against the growing threat of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Therefore, we investigated the phage ФEcSw endolysin to enhance the lytic activity against multi-drug-resistant Escherichia coli Sw1 through site-directed mutagenesis (SDM) guided by in silico identification of critical residues.
Methods: A computational analysis was conducted to elucidate the protein folding pattern, identify the active domains, and recognize critical residues of ФEcSw endolysin.

: The receptor binding motif (RBM) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is critical for viral entry into host cells. Development of a vaccine targeting this region is a promising strategy for COVID-19 prevention. To enhance the immunogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, we developed an adenoviral vector expressing the RBM from the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein that fused to the human Fc (hFc) domain.

Exosomes are released from multiple cell types as part of their normal physiology as well as during acquired abnormalities. In this study, we investigated the effect of pathogenic Edwardsiella piscicida infection on olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) exosomes at morphometric, physicochemical, and molecular levels. Unique cup-shaped exosomes were isolated from the plasma of non-infected (PBS-Exo) and E.

Lymphoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in dogs. Combination chemotherapy with vincristine, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and prednisolone (CHOP) is the most effective treatment for multicentric lymphoma. Previous studies have evaluated the response of large dogs to CHOP treatment and identified prognostic factors; however, studies on small dogs are lacking.

Bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) are nanoscale membrane-bound structures involved in intercellular communication and transport of bioactive molecules. In this study, we described the proteomic insight and anti-inflammatory activity of Streptococcus parauberis BEVs (SpEVs). Proteomics analysis of SpEVs identified 6209 distinct peptides and 1039 proteins.

Introduction: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has become an essential tool for uncovering the complexities of various physiological and immunopathological conditions in veterinary medicine. However, there is currently limited information on immune-suppressive cancer subsets in canine breast cancers. In this study, we aimed to identify and characterize immune-suppressive subsets of triple-negative canine breast cancer (TNBC) by utilizing integrated scRNA-seq data from published datasets.

Bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) are natural nanocarriers that have shown great potential for biomedical applications such as biomarkers, cancer therapy, immunomodulators, vaccines, wound healing, tissue engineering, and drug carriers. In the present study, BEVs were isolated from the gram-negative bacterium, Aeromonas hydrophila using the ultracentrifugation method and denoted as AhEVs. Using transmission electron microscopy imaging, we confirmed the ultrastructure and spherical shape morphology of AhEVs.

Childhood Sjögren's disease represents critically unmet medical needs due to a complete lack of immunological and molecular characterizations. This study presents key immune cell subsets and their interactions in the periphery in childhood Sjögren's disease. Here we show that single-cell RNA sequencing identifies the subsets of IFN gene-enriched monocytes, CD4 T effector memory, and XCL1 NK cells as potential key players in childhood Sjögren's disease, and especially in those with recurrent parotitis, which is the chief symptom prompting clinical visits from young children.

Background: is the causative agent of proliferative enteropathy and is associated with several outbreaks, causing substantial economic loss to the porcine industry.
Objectives: In this study, we focused on demonstrating the protective effect in the mouse model through the immunological bases of two vaccine strains against porcine proliferative enteritis.
Methods: We used live-attenuated Typhimurium (ST) secreting two selected immunogenic LI antigens ( autotransporter A epitopes and flagellin [FliC]-peptidoglycan-associated lipoprotein-FliC) as the vaccine carrier.

In Brief: Porcine endometrial organoids (EOs) were isolated and characterized, revealing distinctive features such as unique extracellular matrix formation, fusion into uterine bud-like structures, and facilitation of embryo elongation. The yield of EOs was significantly enhanced by cryopreservation medium supplemented with the rock inhibitor (Y-27632), resulting in reduced expression of apoptotic mRNAs and microRNAs.
Abstract: Endometrial organoids (EOs) are acceptable models for understanding maternal-embryonic cross talk.

More than 110,000 companion animals are sent to shelters each year due to abandonment in Republic of Korea, and there is a need to analyze the causes of the relinquishment of animals and implement appropriate policies. Veterinary costs have been blamed for this issue in Republic of Korea above the reported leading causes of socioeconomic status of owners, cost and behavior issues of the animals, or housing restrictions. However, it is rare to find supporting evidence.

Mitochondria are subcontractors dedicated to energy production within cells. In human mitochondria, almost all mitochondrial proteins originate from the nucleus, except for 13 subunit proteins that make up the crucial system required to perform 'oxidative phosphorylation (OX PHOS)', which are expressed by the mitochondria's self-contained DNA. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) also encodes 2 rRNA and 22 tRNA species.
