Blood supply to the pelvic organs of outbred male rats was diminished by graduated constriction of the distal part of the inferior vena cava. Deficiency of intramural blood supply in prostate and urinary bladder was revealed by bioimpedance harmonic analysis according to the magnitude of first cardiac peak in the bioimpedance spectrogram. In 1-1.

Department of Diagnostics and Consultation, Municipal Urological Hospital No 47, Moscow; Department of Restorative Medicine, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, and Balneotherapy, A. I. Burnazyan Institute of Postgraduate Professional Education; Department of Experimental Modeling of Urological Diseases, FSA Research Institute of Urology, the Russian Ministry of Health; Scientific-and-Production Company BIOLA Ltd., Institute of Experimental Cardiology, Russian Cardiology Research-and-Production Complex, the Russian Ministry of Health, Moscow, Russia.

In searching for novel objective methods to diagnosticate pelvic pain and assess efficiency of analgesic therapy, 37 male patients were examined prior to and after the course of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (5-10 sessions) with the waves directed to projections of prostate and/or crura and shaft of the penis. The repetition rate of mechanical pulses was 3-5 Hz. The range of energy pulse density was 0.

Acute urine retention is a frequent complication in patients with benign hyperplasia of the prostate gland. According to studies made on experimental animals and people, it is accompanied by the deterioration of the bladder blood supply. This study attempts to explore the relationship of intramural blood flow, production of reactive oxygen species, and functional state of the bladder detrusor in modeling of acute urine retention in rats, as well as the impact of mitochondria-targeted antioxidants (which are supposed to alleviate the effects of oxidative stress induced by experimental ischemia) on these parameters.

[Diagnostic value of ultrasound elastography in prostate cancer].

Zhonghua Nan Ke Xue

March 2013

Department of Urology/Zhengzhou University Research Institute of Urology, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou, Henan 450014, China.

Ultrasound elastography, as a new imaging technique to obtain information about tissue elasticity, can directly or indirectly reflect the differences of the inner elastic modulus and other mechanical properties in the tissue, and thus clearly display and position pathological changes and identify lesions. With its rapid development and wide application to clinical practice, ultrasound elastography has become a hot research topic. However, reports are rarely seen at home and abroad about the application of ultrasound elastography in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Objective: To investigate the protective effects of hypothermia combined with dexamethasone on the testis of rats after testicular torsion reduction and on the expression of eNOS and apoptosis of spermatogenic cells.

Methods: We made unilateral testicular torsion models in 80 adolescent male Sprague-Dawley rats by 720 degrees torsion of the left testis, and then randomly divided them into four groups of equal number to be treated with normal temperature + physiological saline (group A), hypothermia + physiological saline (group B), hypothermia + dexamethasone (group C), and normal temperature + dexamethasone (group D). After 48 hours, we collected the testes, observed pathological changes of the testicular tissue by HE staining under the light microscope, determined the expression of eNOS by immunohistochemistry, and detected the apoptosis of spermatogenic cells by TUNEL.

Assessment of intramural blood flow and neurogenic control in intact and hypertrophic urinary bladder with harmonic analysis of bioimpedance in rats.

Bull Exp Biol Med

August 2012

Department of Experimental Modeling of Urological Diseases, FSA Research Institute of Urology, the Russian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Moscow, Russia.

High-resolution impedancometry and harmonic (Fourier) analysis of variable component of bioimpedance revealed rhythmic oscillations of urinary bladder bioimpedance at the Mayer wave, respiration, and heartbeat frequencies. The power values of the corresponding Mayer, respiratory, and cardiac peaks were calculated to assess circulation in the urinary bladder wall and its autonomic nervous control at various stages of infusion cystometry in intact rats and in the rats with preliminary formed infravesical obstruction (IVO). In intact rats, filling of the bladder with physiological saline diminished the power of the first (fundamental) cardiac peak attesting to a decrease of the blood flow in the bladder wall.

Objective: To explore the expression of the PIM-1 protein in prostate cancer tissue and its relationship with PSA recurrence.

Methods: We used the immunohistochemical SP method to detect the expression of the PIM-1 protein in the prostate tissues of 68 cases of prostate cancer (PCa) and 37 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Results: The positive rate of the PIM-1 protein expression was 67.

Multicycle harmonic (Fourier) analysis of bioimpedance was employed to simultaneously assess circulation and neural activity in visceral (rat urinary bladder) and somatic (human finger) organs. The informative value of the first cardiac harmonic of the bladder impedance as an index of bladder circulation is demonstrated. The individual reactions of normal and obstructive bladders in response to infusion cystometry were recorded.

We conducted a retrospective study of the course of recurrent urolithiasis in 127 patients (63 women, 64 men aged from 27 to 58) who were under close and regular outpatient follow-up for up to 15 years and who did not receive conservative prophylactic therapy due to different reasons. The group consisted of 33 patients with uric acid lithiasis, 52 patients with calcium oxalate lithiasis, 42 patients with magnesium-ammonium-phosphate lithiasis. By the start of follow-up not a single patient had had urinary stones detected by ultrasound and X-ray.

Med Hypotheses

February 2010

Department of Urology, Tongji Hospital, Research Institute of Urology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common disease of the aged. And its etiopathogenesis is still uncertain after centuries' research. Ducts of prostate were often found obstructed and ectasy in pathological examinations.

Chronic experiments on outbred albino rats were performed to compare the dynamics of histological signs for postischemic renal injury (90-min thermal ischemia) after intraparenchymal injection of cultured fetal MSC from human bone marrow. Functional indexes of the ischemic kidney were predetermined. In the early period after ischemia (day 4), administration of human bone marrow MSC was followed by the increase in blood flow in the microcirculatory bed and decrease in the degree of alteration in renal tubules.

Vitamin E was quantified in renal cell carcinomas (RCC) and in 'intact' renal cortex, obtained from 31 patients subjected either to unilateral nephrectomy or to partial resection of the only kidney. Histologically, 14 tumors consisted predominantly of clear cells (group 1) and 17 of other cell types (group 2). In both groups, a significant increase in vitamin E concentration, as compared to the 'intact' cortex, was observed: 167.
