[Rathke's cleft cyst in a middle-aged man with chief complaint of depression : A case report and literature review].

Objective: To present a case of Rathke's cleft cyst (RCC) in a middle-aged man complaining of depression and review the relevant literature.

Methods: A 51-year-old man firstly visited the outpatient clinic of neurology in our hospital due to 4 years of low mood. The patient was found normal in physical and thyroid function laboratory examinations and achieved a total score of 19 in Hamilton Depression Scale, which indicated depression.

[Correlation of sperm DNA fragmentation index with age and semen parameters and its influence on the outcomes of IVF-ET].

Objective: To explore the correlation of the sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) with age and other semen parameters in infertile men and its influence on the outcomes of in vitro fertilization and embryo transplantation (IVF-ET).

Methods: Semen samples were obtained from 6 162 infertile males in our hospital between July 2017 and December 2018. Sperm concentration, the percentages of progressively motile sperm (PMS) and morphologically normal sperm (MNS) and sperm DFI were determined by computer-assisted semen analysis, modified Papanicolaou staining and sperm chromatin structure assay, respectively.

[Fatherhood achieved in a case of nonobstructive azoospermia with Kennedy's disease via microdissection testicular sperm extraction and ICSI: A case report and literature review].

Objective: To explore the feasibility of biological fatherhood in nonobstructive azoospermia patient with Kennedy's disease and review the relevant literature.

Methods: A twenty-eight man complaining of weakness in the lower extremities for a year underwent physical and laboratory examinations and was found with azoospermia. At the request of the patient for assisted reproduction, we performed microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE).

[Bladder outlet obstruction index alone is not reliable for the diagnosis of benign prostate hyperplasia].

Objective: To evaluate the clinical application value of the bladder outlet obstruction index (BOOI) in the diagnosis of BPH.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the urodynamic parameters and BOOI of 199 cases of BPH diagnosed from July 2016 to September 2018, which were divided into a BOO (n = 119), a suspected BOO (n = 39) and a non-BOO group (n = 41) based on the BOOI. We obtained the prostate volume (PV), IPSS, IPSS-voiding symptom score (IPSS-VS), quality of life score (QOL), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) and postvoid residual urine volume (PVR) from the patients, compared them among the three groups and analyzed their correlation to BOOI using Pearson's linear correlation analysis.

[Clinical effect of a scrotal rapid recovery dressing device in the treatment of acute epididymitis].

Objective: To study the protective effect of a scrotal rapid recovery dressing device, scrotal girdle, on the scrotum of the patient with acute epididymitis, so as to improve the prognosis and the patient's satisfaction.

Methods: A total of 120 patients with acute epididymitis were treated in our hospital from December 2018 to November 2019, 60 with the scrotal girdle plus local cold compress in addition to antibiotics administration (the scrotal girdle group) and the other 60 with antibiotics only (the control group), all for 6 days. Then, comparisons were made between the two groups of patients in the improvement of scrotal swelling, total effectiveness rate and the patients' satisfaction with therapeutic outcomes.

[Clinical application value of the endoscopic surveillance system in transurethral bipolar plasmakinetic resection of the prostate].

Objective: To evaluate the clinical application of the endoscopic surveillance system (ESS) in transurethral bipolar plasmakinetic resection of the prostate (TUPKRP).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 136 cases of TUPKRP performed with the assistance of ESS from September 2018 to March 2019. According to the prostate volume (PV), we divided the patients into a PV ≥ 60 ml and a PV < 60 ml group, and compared the surgery-related parameters between the two groups of patients.

[Proposals for the diagnosis and treatment of andrologic diseases during the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic].

In December, 2019, several cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) were reported in Wuhan, Hubei. Since then, more and more NCP cases, confirmed or suspected, have been found in China and other parts of the world, and the virus is now showing a tendency towards a wider spread. During the NCP epidemic, all medical workers are confronted with special challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and required of even more accurate therapeutic protocols as well as stricter observation of the principles for the prevention and control of NCP.

[Novel coronavirus and male reproductive health].

In December 2019, the novel coronavirus pneumonia broke out in Wuhan, Hubei, and then spread across China and the world, which posed a threat to public health and safety.The symptoms caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) mainly involve the respiratory system, but no literature has been reported whether it can induce pathological changes in the male reproductive system. According to the fact that SARS-CoV-2 can infect the cells expressing angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), which can be distributed in the corpus cavernosum, testis and other male reproductive organs and may also participate in erectile function, spermatogenesis, sperm motility and androgen metabolism through the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis in the renin-angiotensin system(RAS), it can be deduced that SARS-CoV-2 may affect these physiological processes of male reproduction.

[Clinical application of common botanical preparations in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia].

With the increasing incidence of BPH, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) it induces seriously affect the quality of life of middle-aged and elderly patients. Botanical preparations have the advantages of easy availability, reliable efficacy and less adverse reactions for the treatment of BPH. Botanical preparations commonly used for this purpose include lycopene, saw palmetto fruit extract, Pygeumafricanum extract, urtica extract, and so on.

[Surgical treatment of low anterior resection syndrome].

Objective: To compare functional outcomes of various rectal reconstruction after total mesorectal excision.

Material And Methods: A prospective randomized trial included 90 patients with mid-to-low rectal carcinoma who underwent total mesorectal excision.

Results: There were 22 patients after J-pouch surgery, 30 patients with side-to-end anastomoses and 38 patients with end-to-end anastomoses.

[Bacteriophage Therapy of Urological Infections].

A literature review dedicated to the problem of bacteriophage therapy for infectious and inflammatory diseases, including urological infections, is presented. Considering the growth of antibiotic resistance, the search for alternative treatments is relevant. Current data about bacteriophages and mechanism of their action, difference of virulent and temperate phages is given, as well as mechanisms of bacteria resistance to phages and ways of its overcoming.

Stimulation of Structural and Functional Recovery of the Kidney in Rats with Postischemic Acute Renal Failure of Different Severity by Embryonic Protein-Peptide Complex Therapy.

In male rats, acute renal failure was simulated by clamping the vascular pedicle of the left kidney for 60 or 90 min and right-sided nephrectomy. In the control series, no therapy was performed. In the experimental series, the animals were daily injected subcutaneously with Cellex, a protein-peptide complex (PPC) chromatographically isolated from the brain tissue of pig embryos with a molecular weight of its components from 10 to 250 kDa.

Neuroprotective effect of Hongjing I granules on erectile dysfunction in a rat model of bilateral cavernous nerve injury.

Neurogenic erectile dysfunction (NED) is an inevitable postoperative disease of cavernous nerve injury which will lead to various pathophysiological changes in the corpus cavernosum and dorsal penile nerve caused by radical prostatectomy (RP). Although serval years of clinical application of HJIG I granules (HJIG), an innovative formulation, has demonstrated its reliable clinical efficacy against NED, the mechanism of HJIG remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the neuroprotective effect of HJIG, to repair damaged nerves in a rat model of bilateral cavernous nerve injury (BCNI) in vivo and their effects on neurites of major pelvic ganglia (MPG) regeneration and Schwann cells (SCs) proliferation in vitro.

[Prevention of infectious and inflammatory complications after percutaneous nephrolithotomy].

Introduction: Given the increase in antibiotic resistance of uropathogens, one of the urgent problems is a development of optimal antimicrobial prophylaxis for surgical interventions, as well as an adequate regimen of antibiotic therapy after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL).

[Genetic polymorphisms in benign prostatic hyperplasia: Progress in studies].

BPH is a common and frequently-occurring disease of the urinary system. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) is the most common mutation in the genome and has an impact on the pathogenesis, progression and prognosis of BPH in different populations. We reviewed the published literature on BPH-related SNPs, expounded the roles of different SNPs in the development and progression of BPH, and summarized the current status and existing problems in the related studies and the prospects of its clinical application.

[Sonic hedgehog signaling pathway and erectile dysfunction: Advances in studies].

Sonic hedgehog (Shh) is an important regulator of penile erectile function in adult males, and abnormal Shh signals may be involved in the mechanisms of ED. Current studies on the relationship of the Shh signaling pathway with ED are mainly concentrated on neurogenic ED caused by bilateral cavernous nerve injury, diabetes-induced endocrinological ED, and senile ED. This review focuses on the changes of the Shh signaling pathway in different types of ED and clarifies the mechanisms of the Shh signaling pathway regulating ED, hoping to give some inspiration to further related studies.

[Inhibitory effect of salidroside on H2O2-induced down-regulation of Cx43 expression in corpus cavernosum smooth muscle cells in rats].

Objective: To explore the regulatory effect of salidroside on H2O2-induced decrease in the expression of the connexin43 (Cx43) protein in corpus cavernosum smooth muscle cells (CCSMC).

Methods: Rat CCSMCs were isolated, primarily cultured in vitro and identified by immunocytochemical assay. The optimum concentration of H2O2 for intervention was determined by detecting its effect on the viability of the CCSMCs and used in the treatment of the CCSMCs for different lengths of time, and meanwhile salidroside was applied at 16 μg/ml (low dose) or 64 μg/ml (high dose) for intervention.
