Purpose: The primary endpoint of this study was to estimate the efficacy of endovascular interventions -EVI- (occlusion and chemoinfusion of the internal iliac arteries- IIA) in the control of bleeding of patients with advanced cervical and endometrial cancer. Tumor response and survival were also estimated.
Patients And Methods: EVI were carried out in 95 patients with advanced uterine carcinoma (study group).

In experiments on rats (290 animals) exposed to chronic gamma-radiation with the total dose of 10.0 Gy it was detected that prescription of synthetic pharmaceutical of the dihydropyridine class--glutapyrone--together with drinking water during 6 months reduced the rate of malignant neoplasms from 26.5% in the control group to 13% in the treated animals.

The gender and age features of the geomagnetic field (GMF) influence (K-indexes) on the leukocyte radiosensitivity (S) in human blood in case of normal and enhanced levels of metal-ecotoxicants (Pb, Cd, Hg, Mn, Zn, Cu) in blood was studied, as well as the impact of the GMF intensity alterations on the child gender determination. In the whole studied population (n = 244) it was observed a negative relationship between S- and K-indexes. It was shown that the most changes of blood leukocyte radiosensitivity depended on the GMF oscillations in men older than 45 years.

The postoperative course of the disease was studied in 63 patients operated on for malignant hepatic lesion in 1990-1998. The pattern of surgical intervention-caused hepatic changes, which is observed at ultrasonography, CT, MRI, angiography, and oil-injected CT is described. Recurrences took place at the site of resection (9.

Transcatheter treatment was performed in 81 patients with unresectable non-colorectal liver metastases. Effectiveness increased in the following order: hepatic artery infusion--arterial chemoembolization--combined, arterial and portal vein oily chemoembolization. The mean survival rates for these methods were 8.

The study was aimed to investigate the possibilities of the application of a new radiopharmaceutical--"Sodium butyrate, [1-(11)C]" (11C-Butyrate) for differential diagnosis of pathological volume brain formations. Positron emission tomography (PET) ("Ecat Exact 47", Siemens) of the brain was performed in 24 patients (14 male & 10 female, aged 19-56). The scanning was carried out as static scan 4-5 min after intravenous administration of 250-350 Mbq 11C-Butyrate and proceeded within 15-20 min.

Hybridization with cDNA arrays was used to obtain expression profiles of 263 protein-tyrosine kinase (PTK), protein-tyrosine phosphatase (PTP), dual-specific phosphatase (DuSP), and other genes for the normal prostate tissue, primary prostate carcinomas (PC) of 84 patients, 7 xenografts, and 5 carcinoma cell lines. Analysis of 96 profiles revealed eight clusters of genes coexpressed in PC (coefficient of correlation r > 0.7).

Hybridization with cDNA arrays was used to obtain expression profiles of 214 protein-tyrosine kinase, protein-tyrosine phosphatase, dual-specific phosphatase, and other genes for kidney carcinomas (KC) and normal kidney tissues of 34 patients and for seven carcinoma cell lines. Computer analysis revealed three clusters of genes coexpressed in KC. A proliferating-cell gene cluster included MET, VIM, MYC, TOP2A, PCNA, etc.

On peripheral lymphocytes of 5 cancer patients undergone wholebody therapeutic irradiation (at daily dose of 10 cGy up to total dose 50 cGy of 60Co gamma-rays) the dose response of unstable and stable chromosomal exchanges detected by FISH was compared with the dose response of the some aberrations in lymphocytes irradiated in vitro. The dose response fitted well to linear function. For dicentrics the lower slope of dose-response curve was found for in vivo irradiated lymphocytes as compared to the dose-response curve obtained for in vitro irradiated lymphocytes of the same patients.

Purpose: To study the cytogenetic effects of fractionated radiotherapy in peripheral blood lymphocytes of five cancer patients. In vitro experiments were performed in parallel using the same dose range and a comparison was made of the induced frequencies of stable and unstable chromosome aberrations. The object was to clarify the use of an in vitro calibration curve for immediate and retrospective dosimetry in cases of radiation accidents.

Among various cytogenetic changes stable chromosome aberrations (SCHA) seem to be the most significant for ageing and carcinogenesis. Being nonlethal they can persist through cell divisions and accumulate in time. We studied the age response of SCHA (translocations and insertions) in normal and radiation exposed human populations.

Studies for 39 patients have been done with the use of a new non-invasive method of observation--MR cholangiopancreatography,--that enables to get a high contrast-enhanced image of the intrahepatic, extrahepatic and pancreatic ducts without administration of the contrast agents and invasive interventions. High diagnostic efficiency of the method has been proved in patients with diseases of bile ducts and pancreas. The observation technique has been optimized and semiotics has been clarified in cases of various diseases that cause on obstruction of the biliferous tracts.

A complete examination (mammography, ultrasonography and magnetic resonance tomography) has been made for 82 patients with breast masses. A high diagnostic efficacy of the dynamic contrast-enhanced MRT of the breast masses has been proved. The paper showed the advantages of dynamic contrast-enhanced tomography, as compared to mammography and US in cases with the small carcinomas developed on the background of the marked fibroadenomatous changes in the breast, in the dense or deformed glandular tissue, in cases of the postoperative scarring as well as with retromammary localization of the tumors.

The practice of examinations of more than 400 patients in the diagnostic center of CRIRR showed a high diagnostic efficiency of contrast MRA, especially in stenoses, occlusions, pathologic bends of the brachiocephalic vessels; aneurysms and stenoses of the abdominal and thoracic aorta, stenoses and occlusions of visceral branches of the abdominal aorta, iliac arteries including condition of vessels after surgical correction. Valuable facts have been obtained in vasorenal hypertension caused by stenoses, occlusions, extravasal compressions, additional arteries, and in the portal system (thrombosis of the main trunk and branches of the portal vein, signs of portal hypertension).

The frequencies of translocations and dicentrics detected by "chromosome painting" in lymphocytes were estimated in 115 healthy donors and in 273 people exposed to uncontrolled irradiation at low doses 1-4 years ago. Age responses of both types of exchanges at the age range from 3 to 85 years fit to quadratic model. The frequency of translocations grew faster with age than the frequency of dicentrics.
