Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), caused by Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV), is endemic in Africa, Asia, and Europe, but CCHF epidemiology and epizootiology is only rudimentarily defined for most regions. Here we summarize what is known about CCHF in Central, Eastern, and South-eastern Asia. Searching multiple international and country-specific databases using a One Health approach, we defined disease risk and burden through identification of CCHF cases, anti-CCHFV antibody prevalence, and CCHFV isolation from vector ticks.

The mortality of female breast cancer in Shandong Province has increased since the 1970. The differential decomposition analysis found that the slight decline in the crude mortality of breast cancer among women was entirely due to non-demographic factors during the 1970-1990, and the significant increase in the crude mortality was due to a combination of demographic and non-demographic factors since the 1990. The contribution rate of demographic factor has gradually increased from 53.

Background: Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic fever Virus (CCHFV) is a rapidly emerging vector-borne pathogen and the cause of a virulent haemorrhagic fever affecting large parts of Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Methodology/principle Findings: An isothermal recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) assay was successfully developed for molecular detection of CCHFV. The assay showed rapid (under 10 minutes) detection of viral extracts/synthetic virus RNA of all 7 S-segment clades of CCHFV, with high target specificity.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a pathogenic tick-borne disease caused by a single-stranded negative-sense RNA virus classified within the Nairovirus genus of the family Bunyaviridae. Cases of CCHF have been registered in Tajikistan since the disease was first brought to medical attention in 1944. However, historical Tajik manuscripts describe the features of hemorrhagic fever associated with ticks, indicating that the disease might have been known in this region for many years before it was officially characterized.

The autoimmune disease interstitial pneumonia/dermatomyositis complex (ID) is classified as a paramalignancy since it is associated with a variety of malignancies at a high incidence in aged patients. We found a striking resemblance of pathophysiological features between ID and immunoendocrinopathy syndromes (IES) with depressed adrenocortical function. Drip infusion of megadose vitamin C, dehydroepiandrosterone and cortisol (an adrenocortical secretion substitute) was found to be effective for the control of ID.

Interstitial pneumonia can be controlled by the combined use of a prophylactic antibiotic system and the drip infusion system including megadose vitamin C, dehydroepiandrosterone (D) and cortisol (F), a fortified substitute of 3 adrenocortical elements. The response of patients was satisfying with few side-effects of F. It was shown that an excess of vitamin C improved the therapeutic efficacy of D-F complex, and that D and F improved the immunodeficient state of the host.

We studied the effects of antioxidants resveratrol and pQ510 on physiological parameters and the state of endothelial NO-synthase as a marker of the regulatory function of the endothelium in the aorta of rats with modeled arterial hypertension. The antioxidants promoted recovery of stable NO metabolites in rat serum and maintained expression of endothelial NO-synthase at a normal level. These effects were confirmed by correction of blood pressure and endothelium-dependent vascular dilation assessed by endothelial dysfunction coefficient.

Since 1996 in our clinic, the regular practice of megadose vitamin C infusion with dehydroepiandrosterone-cortisol annex and the continuous intake of erythromycin and chloramphenicol have been found useful for the clinical control of the autoimmune disease interstitial pneumonia, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome. The long-term use of these two systems for the treatment of the autoimmune disease has led to the emergence of four problems of theoretical or practical importance, as described below: i) Should maintenance of the above core treatments be continued for prophylactic purposes in the absence of acute signs of pneumonia? Evidence indicated that their use was essential to arrest the dynamic activity of an intrapulmonary bacterial colony in the immunodeficient host, and that the 5-year survival rate of interstitial pneumonia patients would have been worse without the prophylactic practice of the 2 treatments. ii) Evidence was presented to suggest that the activity of the intrapulmonary bacterial colony was becoming less responsive because of the emergence of a drug-resistent mutant bacterium.

The purpose of this study was to investigate comparatively the chronological changes of age-adjusted incidence rate (AAIR) as well as age-specific incidence rate (ASIR) of cancers of the breast (Br), the uterine cervix (Cer) and the stomach (St) from early 1960s to mid 1980s (5 data collections) using the data sets of 9 female populations world wide, the total data set number amounting to 45 per tumor. More specifically, we wanted to see whether or not there was any regular relationship between the differential time trends of the above 3 human neoplasias and their oncogene-tumor suppressor gene balances. Our investigation proceeded in 3 steps as follows: step 1, straight line regression analysis of log AAIR was applied to each of tumor pairs Br(x)-Cer(y), Br(x)-St(y) and Cer(x)-St(y).

We attempted a stochastic study of cancer risk change in time using the follow-up data of the age-adjusted incidence rate (AAIR) of cancer in Japan, which covered 13 neoplasia types of both sexes in scope, and ranged from 1975 to 1993 in time. The purpose of our study was to test whether or not there was any mathematical regularity that was to condition cancer risk changes in time in all the 13 human neoplasia types. We investigated the relation between 2 neoplasias as regards log AAIR changes in time by the direct successive elimination method of Gauss, a fitness test of a given pair data to an equilibrium model.

Tamoxifen, now in use in the breast cancer clinic worldwide, was a study subject of controversy showing an estrogenic property on one occasion and an anti-estrogenic property on another occasion. The outcomes of 4 case-control studies of tamoxifen use were disclosed through 4 publications in 1998. The contents of these reports were intriguing, not only to surgeons of breast cancer clinics, but also to researchers of oncological science in general.

The decipherment of the human genome, as accomplished recently in USA and in Europe, now enables us to search for the cause of a disease at the levels of the whole spectrum of gene expressions (mRNAs) of the human genome. A set of investigations came to the world in AD 2000 to show that: a) A total of 50 genes of the estrogen receptor positive (ER+) human breast cancer cell line MCF-7 in their gene expressions were found to undergo stimulation from a physiological concentration of 17beta-estradiol. b) Comparison of estrogen-responsiveness among a number of estrogen-responsive genes, among cancer cell lines of both the breast and endometrium with and without active ER, and among cell lines of normal tissues revealed that association between the presence of active ER and estrogen-responsive genes is quantitative rather than qualitative including some exceptions, and that none of the estrogen-responsive genes tested was classified as of breast cancer specific.

The purpose of the present investigation is to elucidate the relation between the distribution pattern of the age-adjusted incidence rate (AAIR) changes in time and space of 15 tumors of bothe sexes and the locations of centers of centripetal-(oncogene type) and centrifugal-(tumoe suppressor gene type) forces. The fitness of the observed log AAIR data sets to the oncogene type- and the tumor suppressor gene type-equilibrium models and the locations of 2 force centers were calculated by applying the least square method of Gauss to log AAIR pair data series with and without topological data manipulations, which are so designed as to let log AAIR pair data series fit to 2 variant (x, y) frameworks, the Rect-coordinates and the Para-coordinates. The 2 variant (x, y) coordinates are defined each as an (x, y) framework with its X axis crossed at a right angle to the regression line of the original log AAIR data (the Rect-coordinates) and as another framework with its X axis run in parallel with the regression line of the original log AAIR pair data series (the Para-coordinates).

We report here that the application of the least square method of Gauss to the log-transformed age-adjusted incidence rate changes in time and space, as tested with either the male-female or the female-male tumor pairs for each of 15 tumor entities, has revealed the presence of intertumor linkage that was conditioning the changes of two cancer risk parameters to let them fit to the equilibrium model with close resemblance to the chemical equilibrium model. The dissimilarity of the cancer risk equilibrium model to the chemical equilibrium model--topological dissociation between the equilibrium model of centripetal force (r = -1.000) and that of centrifugal force (r = +1.
