Hearing loss (HL) is the most common sensory disorder, characterized by a wide range of causes, including both environmental and genetic factors. While single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) and small insertions/deletions have been extensively studied, the role of structural variations (SVs) in hearing impairment has gained increasing recognition. This review article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the importance of SVs in HL, by exploring the SVs associated with HL and their underlying pathogenic mechanisms.

Background: In the cryopreservation process, rooster spermatozoa are vastly sensitive to reactive oxygen species (ROS). This study aimed to investigate the effects of Lake extender supplemented via Cysteamine (CYS) on the quality and fertility characteristics of rooster semen during the cryopreservation process.
Methods: Semen samples were collected from 10 proved Ross-308 roosters, diluted and cryopreserved in the Lake extender which contained 0, 1, 2, 4, and 8 mM of CYS (C-0, C-1, C-2, C-4, and C-8, respectively).

The simultaneous administration of multiple drugs within identical nanocarriers to cancer cells or tissues can result in the effective action of drugs at reduced concentrations. In this investigation, PAMAM dendrimers (G4-PAMAM) were employed to link with methotrexate (MTX) using DCC/NHS chemistry and followed by the entrapment of curcumin (Cur) within it. The establishment of covalent bonds between MTX and the PAMAM dendrimer led to PAMAM-MTX interaction, verified and described through FT-IR.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are an emerging strategy in cancer therapy, enhancing precision and efficacy by linking targeted antibodies to potent cytotoxic agents. This study introduces a novel ADC that combines ribonuclease A (RNase A) with cetuximab (Cet), an anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody, through a polyethylene glycol (PEG) linker (RN-PEG-Cet), aimed to induce apoptosis in KRAS mutant colorectal cancer (CRC) via a ROS-mediated pathway. RN-PEG-Cet was successfully synthesized and characterized for its physicochemical properties, retaining full enzymatic activity in RNA degradation and high binding affinity to EGFR.

Background: Recent studies have highlighted the potential role of several long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the pathogenesis of Behçet's disease (BD). This study investigated the expression profiles of lncRNA NEAT1 and lncRNA HOTAIR, and their target cytokine genes, IL-6 and TNF-α, in active and inactive BD patients.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) obtained from 25 BD patients and 25 age-sex-matched healthy controls (HCs).

Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia grade III (CIN III) represents a critical precursor to invasive cervical cancer, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of its etiology, progression, diagnosis, and preventive strategies. This review integrates an approach to synthesize current literature, conducted through a meticulous search of databases (Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar) for relevant articles discussing CIN III and its association with Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The review delineates the multifaceted landscape of CIN III, elucidating the pathogenesis involving high-risk HPV types, demographic factors (age and sexual behavior), behavioral determinants (smoking and contraceptive use), and environmental influences impacting disease epidemiology.

Introduction: Breast cancer, a formidable global health challenge for women, necessitates innovative therapeutic strategies with enhanced efficacy and minimal side effects. Aripiprazole (ARI), a widely used schizophrenia medication, exhibits promising potential in the treatment of breast cancer. As cancer therapy evolves towards a combination approach, multimodal nano-based delivery systems, such as ARI-loaded niosomes (NIOs) combined with Chitosan-Au nanoparticles for chemo-photothermal therapy, show promise over traditional chemotherapy alone by enhancing targeted efficacy and minimizing side effects.

callus contains pluripotent stem cells, and its extract (HPCE) is a natural compound that includes various biologically active components, such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, and naphthodiantrons like hypericin and hyperforin. These components give HPCE significant antibacterial and antioxidant properties, making it a valuable option for wound healing. Unlike traditional wound dressings that may leave a residue or necessitate invasive procedures like phototherapy, HPCE is a promising alternative.

This study investigates the toxicity of bioactive compounds isolated from the halophytic plant Halocnemum strobilaceum against A549 lung cancer cells. Sequential extraction using petroleum ether, chloroform, and methanol yielded various fractions, with the petroleum ether extract demonstrating the highest cytotoxicity. Through bioassay-guided fractionation and isolation techniques, including vacuum liquid chromatography and column chromatography, three compounds were identified: (1) Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, (2) isorhamnetin-3-glucoside, and (3) quercetin-3-glucoside.

In this work, we attempted to improve the properties of magnetite carboxymethyl cellulose nanoparticles (Mag CMC NPs) through Ugi multicomponent reaction (MCR) to obtain magnetite carboxymethyl cellulose@functionalized carboxamide nanoparticles (Mag CMC@FCA NPs) as a new nano bio-carrier. Typically, at first Mag CMC NPs prepared by the co-precipitation method. Then by performing the Ugi MCR on Mag CMC NPs, the Mag CMC@FCA NPs achieved better properties in swelling ratio, loading efficiency and loading capacity.
