In this study, CuO@SiO core-shell catalysts were successfully synthesized and applied to efficiently remove hazardous gaseous pollutant arsine (AsH) by catalytic oxidation under low-temperature and low-oxygen conditions for the first time. In typical experiments, the CuO@SiO catalysts showed excellent AsH removal activity and stability under low-temperature and low-oxygen conditions. The duration of the AsH conversion rate above 90 % for the CuO@SiO catalysts was 39 h, which was markedly higher than that of other catalysts previously reported in the literature.

Plant-leaf surface on Earth harbors complex microbial communities that influence plant productivity and health. To gain a detailed understanding of the assembly and key drivers of leaf microbial communities, especially for leaf-associated fungi, we investigated leaf-associated fungal communities in two seasons for three plant species at two sites by high-throughput sequencing. The results reveal a strong impact of growing season and plant species on fungal community composition, exhibiting clear temporal patterns in abundance and diversity.

Human uptake abundance of microplastics via various pathways, and they accumulate in human liver, kidney, gut and even placenta (especially with a diameter of 1 μm or less). Recent scientific studies have found that exposure to microplastics causes intestinal inflammation and liver metabolic disorder, but it remains largely unknown that whether the damage and inflammation may cause further development of severe diseases. In this study, we discovered one of such potential diseases that may be induced by the exposure to small-sized microplastics (with a diameter of 1 μm) performing a multi-organ and multi-omics study comprising metabolomics and microbiome approaches.

Trivalent metals-modified-biochar (BC) has been widely used for the removal of fluorine (F) in water, but little is known about its effects on the stability and mobility of F-contaminated soil. Two types of modified-BC materials (BC-loaded iron-lanthanide (BC/Fe-La) and BC-loaded aluminum-lanthanide (BC/Al-La)) were synthesized and used for the remediation of F-contaminated soil. In order to understand the sources and distribution characteristics of hexachlorobutadiene (HCBD) in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH), and Pearl River Delta (PRD), the emission sources, as well as their distribution in water and soil were analyzed based on the production levels of chlorinated hydrocarbons and wastewater discharge in the three regions. The results showed that the by-products of trichloroethylene (TCE) and tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and wastewater treatment plants were the main sources of HCBD in the three regions. In 2018, the total emissions of HCBD from by-products of TCE and PCE in the three regions were 498.

With the rapid development of China's economy, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as the precursor of smog and ozone are of increasing concern, especially in rapidly developing areas. This paper is a systematic analysis of VOCs emissions and distribution trends in 12 typical industrial sectors, garbage and wastewater treatment plants, comprehensive industrial parks, and residential districts in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Pearl River Delta Regions. The results show that pharmacy, rubber producing, as well as paint spraying are the top three industries among the 12 typical industries with the highest average VOCs emission concentrations at 541, 499, and 450 mg·m, respectively.
