Viral protein R (Vpr) is an accessory protein in Human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) and has been suggested as an attractive target for HIV disease treatment. Investigations of the ethanolic extracts of twelve Thai herbs revealed that the extracts of the Punica granatum fruits, the Centella asiatica aerials, the Citrus hystrix fruit peels, the Caesalpinia sappan heartwoods, the Piper betel leaves, the Alpinia galangal rhizomes, the Senna tora seeds, the Zingiber cassumunar rhizomes, the Rhinacanthus nasutus leaves, and the Plumbago indica roots exhibited the anti-Vpr activity in HeLa cells harboring the TREx plasmid encoding full-length Vpr (TREx-HeLa-Vpr cells). Moreover, the investigation of the selected main constituents in Punica granatum, Centella asiatica, A.

Microorganisms inhabiting subsurface petroleum reservoirs are key players in biochemical transformations. The interactions of microbial communities in these environments are highly complex and still poorly understood. This work aimed to assess publicly available metagenomes from oil reservoirs and implement a robust pipeline of genome-resolved metagenomics to decipher metabolic and taxonomic profiles of petroleum reservoirs worldwide.

This study aims to explore the use of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and cellulose nanofiber (CNF), obtained from unbleached fiber of oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB), as raw materials in fabricating aerogel, using the facile technique without solvent displacement. The CNC was isolated from sulfuric acid hydrolysis, and the CNF was fibrillated using Ultra Turrax. The CNC and CNF were mixed by ultrasonication in different ratios to produce aerogel using slow freezing (-20 °C), followed by freeze-drying.

This review focuses on diaziridine, a high strained three-membered heterocycle with two nitrogen atoms that plays an important role as one of the most important precursors of diazirine photoaffinity probes, as well as their formation and transformation. Recent research trends can be grouped into three categories, based on whether they have examined non-substituted, -monosubstituted, or ,-disubstituted diaziridines. The discussion expands on the conventional methods for recent applications, the current spread of studies, and the unconventional synthesis approaches arising over the last decade of publications.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The primary treatment for CRC is surgical resection, along with chemotherapy in more advanced or inoperable cases. There is a growing interest to complement both curative and palliative treatment with immunotherapies such as the programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) and PD-ligand 1 (PDL1) checkpoint inhibitors and transforming growth factor (TGF) β inhibitors.

Cell-membrane-coated nanoparticles have emerged as a promising antitumor therapeutic strategy. However, the immunologic mechanism remains elusive, and there are still crucial issues to be addressed including tumor-homing capacity, immune incompatibility, and immunogenicity. Here, we reported a tumor-associated macrophage membrane (TAMM) derived from the primary tumor with unique antigen-homing affinity capacity and immune compatibility.

Failure in the prevention of cross-transmission from contaminated gloves has been recognized as an important factor that contributes to the spread of several healthcare-associated infections. Ex situ coating process with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Eucalyptus citriodora ethanolic leaf extract as reducing and capping agents to coat glove surfaces has been developed to prevent this mode of transmission. Elemental analysis of coated gloves showed 24.

Submerged mycelial cultures of the ascomycete CCTU A372 were found to produce five previously undescribed tetramic acids, for which we propose the trivial names colposetins A-C (-) and colpomenoic acids A and B ( and ), along with the known compounds penicillide () and monodictyphenone (). The planar structures of - were determined by high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESIMS) and extensive 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Their absolute configurations were determined by the combination of electronic circular dischroism (ECD) analysis, -based configurational analysis, and a rotating-frame Overhauser effect spectroscopy (ROESY) experiment.

The implementation of targeted therapies for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has been challenging. Fat mass and obesity associated protein (FTO), an mRNA N-methyladenosine (mA) demethylase, functions as an oncogene that promotes leukemic oncogene-mediated cell transformation and leukemogenesis. Here, we investigated the role of Saikosaponin-d (SsD) in broad anti-proliferation effects in AML and evaluated the mA demethylation activity by targeting FTO of SsD.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent type of primary liver cancer, and is ranked the sixth most common neoplasm and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Photothermal therapy (PTT) for thermal ablation of local tumors has recently emerged as a therapeutic strategy. However, the relatively high temperature of over 50 °C may lead to unexpected heat-related damage to tumor-adjacent normal tissues.
