BACKGROUND Subchorionic hematoma (SCH) can lead to blood accumulation and potentially affect pregnancy outcomes. Despite being a relatively common finding in early pregnancy, the effects of SCH on pregnancy outcomes such as miscarriage, stillbirth, and preterm birth remain debated. This study aims to address these gaps by systematically evaluating the influence of SCH-related clinical factors on pregnancy outcomes using robust analytical techniques.

Problem: Endometriosis and adenomyosis have common pathogenesis and close relationship, with multi-factors involved in related infertility and IVF failure. They lead to anatomical changes, ovarian reserve reduction, endocrine abnormalities, altered endometrial receptivity and immunological dysfunction. Collective evidence indicate that abnormal function of immune cells and secretion of cytokines are closely related to reproductive outcomes among the women.

Background: Patients undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) experience significant psychological distress due to infertility, with depression and anxiety being the most common manifestations. This study investigates the influence of family support and self-efficacy on the mental health of patients undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET). The aim is to assess the direct and indirect effects of family function and self-efficacy on depression and anxiety in IVF-ET patients through pathway analyses, thereby providing novel insights for improving patients' psychological well-being.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) in pregnant women with recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) and to investigate the correlation with changes in the gestational sac and embryo development, and miscarriage prevention as outcomes.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 100 pregnant women with RSA treated at Hulunbeier People's Hospital between January 2022 and January 2023. Among them, 52 patients received LMWH therapy (observation group), while 48 received routine treatment (control group).

DNA breakpoints and free DNA fragments as potential predictors of infertility.

Sci Rep

November 2024

Institute of Medical Sciences, General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, Key Laboratory of Fertility Preservation and Maintenance of Ministry of Education, Ningxia Medical University, Yinchuan, 750004, China.

The study investigated the impact of varicocele on male infertility by analyzing sperm samples from 42 varicocele patients and 22 healthy individuals. Basic sperm parameters such as concentration and vitality were assessed, along with the DNA Fragmentation Index (DFI) using the SCSA method. Additionally, the mean number of sperm DNA breaks (MDB) and free DNA fragments amount in seminal plasma (fDFA) were analyzed using the TDT-Strand Displacement Probe Technique.

Association between pre-gestational diabetes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome and adverse obstetric outcomes.

Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol

January 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, McGill University, McGill University Health Center, Reproductive Center, Montreal, Canada.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how pregestational diabetes mellitus (DM) affects pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
  • Using data from a large database covering 2004-2014, it analyzed records of women diagnosed with PCOS, focusing on those with and without pregestational DM.
  • Results indicated that women with PCOS and pregestational DM faced higher risks for various pregnancy complications, preterm delivery, and cesarean sections, while there was no significant difference in other outcomes like small for gestational age infants or congenital anomalies.

Article Synopsis
  • Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a common issue in patients undergoing IVF, and while current treatments are limited, acupuncture shows promise as a safe alternative, though more research is needed.
  • This study conducts a randomized controlled trial with 384 participants divided into three groups (acupuncture, sham acupuncture, and control) to assess the effectiveness of acupuncture in managing OHSS symptoms over 20 days.
  • Findings will be shared at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, having received ethical approval from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.

Background: This study has employed network analysis while investigating the interrelationships among stress and stigma symptoms and their associations with quality of life among Chinese female infertility patients.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 428 female patients who visited the Department of Reproductive Center of Dalian Women and Children's Medical Group with chief complaints of infertility symptoms were recruited using convenience sampling from November 2022 to December 2023. Fertility-related stress and stigma status were examined by the Fertility Problem Inventory (FPI) and Infertility Stigma Scale (ISS), respectively.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been highly confirmed for their critical role in the treatment of different diseases. This study focuses on the mechanism of umbilical cord-derived MSCs (UC-MSCs) in the treatment of ornidazole (ORN)-induced asthenozoospermia (AS) in rats via the AKT/mTOR pathway. An animal model of AS was established in ORN-induced rats, followed by treatment of UC-MSCs and rapamycin (autophagy activator) or MK-2206 (AKT inhibitor).

CTNND1 affects trophoblast proliferation and specification during human embryo implantation.

Biol Reprod

November 2024

Department of Reproductive center, Tongji Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai 200065, China.

The placenta, serving as the crucial link between maternal and infant, plays a pivotal role in maintaining a healthy pregnancy. Placental dysplasia can lead to various complications, underscoring the importance of understanding trophoblast lineage development. During peri-implantation, the trophectoderm (TE) undergoes differentiation into cytotrophoblast (CTB), syncytiotrophoblast (STB), and extravillous trophoblast (EVT).

Background: Due to the specific nature of interstitial pregnancy (IP), there are significant risks to both the mother and the foetus in women with a heterotopic interstitial pregnancy (HIP). IP alone has been analysed as a site-specific ectopic pregnancy (EP) in previous studies; however, according to the latest European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology criteria, IP is classified as a tubal pregnancy. If IP can be classified as a tubal pregnancy, then there is no difference in the effects of these two methods on intrauterine pregnancies (IUPs).

Objectives: Human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) plays a crucial role in pregnancy. Pregnancy loss (PL) is caused by a variety of causes, such as fetal chromosomal abnormalities, maternal hypertension and diabetes, immune causes, spontaneous immune diseases, infections, unknown causes, etc. This study reports on the association of fetal HLA-G 3'UTR polymorphisms and diplotypes with chromosomally abnormal fetuses (CAF) or unexplained pregnancy loss (UPL).
