Taltirelin, an orally effective thyrotropin-releasing hormone analog, significantly improves motor impairments in rat models of Parkinson's disease (PD) and enhances dopamine release within the striatum. However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In this study, a variety of in vivo and in vitro methods, including transcriptomic analysis, were employed to elucidate the effects of Taltirelin on cellular composition and signaling pathways in the striatum of hemi-PD rats.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have significantly improved outcomes for patients with advanced driver-negative non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, targeted therapy remains the preferred treatment for advanced driver-positive NSCLC, including cases with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. Considering the variability in EGFR-mutant NSCLC, including expression levels of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1), tumor mutation burden (TMB), and other immunological features, the application of immunotherapy in this group is still a subject of investigation.

Thyroid nodules are a common endocrine condition with an increasing incidence over the decades. Data-independent acquisition has been widely utilized in discovery proteomics to identify disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets. To analyze the thyroid disease-related proteome in a high-throughput, reproducible and reliable manner, we introduce thyroid-specific peptide spectral libraries.

Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) is a cytosolic pattern recognition receptor that recognizes multiple pathogen-associated molecular patterns and damage-associated molecular patterns. It is a cytoplasmic immune factor that responds to cellular stress signals, and it is usually activated after infection or inflammation, forming an NLRP3 inflammasome to protect the body. Aberrant NLRP3 inflammasome activation is reportedly associated with some inflammatory diseases and metabolic diseases.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common age-related disease that is correlated with a high number of senescent chondrocytes in joint tissues. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein D (HNRNPD) is an RNA-binding protein whose expression imbalance is associated with cell senescence, but the role of HNRNPD in the occurrence and development of OA has not been reported. In this study, HNRNPD was found to be associated with the chondrocyte senescence process.

Background: Although fractional flow reserve (FFR) is the contemporary standard to detect hemodynamically significant coronary stenosis, it remains underused for the need of pressure wire and hyperemic stimulus. Coronary angiography-derived FFR could break through these barriers. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and performance of a novel diagnostic modality deriving FFR from invasive coronary angiography (AccuFFRangio) for coronary physiological assessment.

Background: Capecitabine, a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil, is extensively utilized for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer. Nevertheless, there exist limitations in comprehending adverse reactions (AEs) in clinical practice. In this study, we investigated the distribution of AEs associated with capecitabine and explored potential rare adverse reactions by mining the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBecause therapeutic cancer vaccines can, in theory, eliminate tumor cells specifically with relatively low toxicity, they have long been considered for application in repressing cancer progression. Traditional cancer vaccines containing a single or a few discrete tumor epitopes have failed in the clinic, possibly due to challenges in epitope selection, target downregulation, cancer cell heterogeneity, tumor microenvironment immunosuppression, or a lack of vaccine immunogenicity. Whole cancer cell or cancer membrane vaccines, which provide a rich source of antigens, are emerging as viable alternatives.

The occurrence of myocardial infarction (MI)-induced malignant ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) is closely associated with the hyperactivation of left stellate ganglion (LSG). Proinflammatory M1 macrophage is reported to aggravate sympathetic overactivation and cause VAs. Therefore, the depletion of M1 macrophage is anticipated to inhibit LSG overactivation and alleviate MI-induced VAs.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common and clinically significant comorbidities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and high-intensity inspiratory muscle training (H-IMT) has emerged as a promising intervention for improving arterial stiffness in individuals with COPD. Yet, there is limited evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the impact of H-IMT alone or in combination with exercise on reducing arterial stiffness in COPD.
