Background: The obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) is a highly prevalent condition. In Spain and other countries, only 5%-9% of patients with OSA have been diagnosed and treated. The lack of accessibility to diagnosis is considered the main cause of this situation through easy-to-use screening instruments, it is necessary to check their validity and reliability in the context where they are to be used.

Background: Studies have investigated the efficacy and safety of switching to the biosimilar infliximab (CT-P13) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, there is limited research directly comparing the effectiveness, drug survival, and pharmacokinetic profiles of the reference infliximab (IFX) and CT-P13 in real clinical settings.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness and drug survival of CPT-13 and reference IFX at weeks 26 and 52, and to determine the pharmacokinetic profiles and safety profile in real-world settings.

Departamento de Biología Celular, Fisiología e Inmunología, Universidad de Córdoba, Campus de Excelencia Internacional Agroalimentario, CeiA3, Córdoba, Spain. Electronic address:

Cytochrome b reductase 3 (CYB5R3) activates respiratory metabolism in cellular systems and exerts a prolongevity action in transgenic mice overexpressing this enzyme, mimicking some of the beneficial effects of calorie restriction. The aim of our study was to investigate the role of sex on metabolic adaptations elicited by CYB5R3 overexpression, and how key markers related with mitochondrial function are modulated in skeletal muscle, one of the major contributors to resting energy expenditure. Young CYB5R3 transgenic mice did not exhibit the striking adaptations in carbon metabolism previously detected in older animals.

Objectives: Our primary objective was to quantify damage burden measured by Damage Index for Antiphospholipid Syndrome (DIAPS) in aPL-positive patients with or without a history of thrombosis in an international cohort (the APS ACTION cohort). Secondly, we aimed to identify clinical and laboratory characteristics associated with damage in aPL-positive patients.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we analysed the baseline damage in aPL-positive patients with or without APS classification.

Provisional stenting has become the default technique for the treatment of most coronary bifurcation lesions. However, the side branch (SB) can become compromised after main vessel (MV) stenting and restoring SB patency can be difficult in challenging anatomies. Angiographic and intracoronary imaging criteria can predict the risk of side branch closure and may encourage use of side branch protection strategies.

Background: Coronary artery perforation is one of the most feared and common complications of chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: To assess the usefulness of the recently developed PROGRESS-CTO (NCT02061436) perforation risk score in independent cohorts. Individual patient-level data pooled analysis of three registries was performed.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to evaluate the overlap between tender points from fibromyalgia (FM) and enthesitis assessments in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), using two scoring systems: MASES and ACR 1990 criteria.
  • - In a sample of 526 patients, 38% were diagnosed with FM; findings showed a significant agreement between the MASES enthesitis score and ACR tender points, with an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of around 0.7 overall.
  • - The results indicate a notable overlap in tender point assessments for axSpA patients, suggesting that even those without FM still show a significant correspondence between the two scoring systems.

We evaluated the utility of the recently presented OPEN-CLEAN (Coronary artery bypass graft, Length of occlusion, Ejection fraction, Age, calcificatioN) perforation score in an independent multicenter CTO PCI dataset. Of the 2,270 patients who underwent CTO PCI at 7 centers, 150 (6.

  • The article studies how safe different ways of using a medicine called regorafenib are for patients with a serious bowel cancer that isn't getting better with standard treatments.
  • It looked at three groups of patients who received different doses and schedules of regorafenib, and checked for side effects while they were being treated.
  • The results showed that all dosing methods were generally safe, and one specific schedule seemed to have fewer serious side effects during the first few cycles of treatment.

Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify factors that affect the disease activity of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in women during a two-year postpartum follow-up, with regular assessments every three months.
  • It involved 119 women as participants and found that joint pain, skin issues, and blood problems were common, with 51.3% experiencing disease flares within about 9 months after giving birth.
  • The findings suggest that achieving remission before conception can lead to better outcomes for SLE patients, emphasizing the importance of counseling for planned pregnancies in these individuals.

Introduction: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that conduct subgroup analyses have the potential to provide information on treatment decisions in specific groups of patients from heterogeneous populations. Although we understand several factors can modify the incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and the benefit/risk ratio of anticoagulation treatments, further evidence is warranted to show the heterogeneity of treatment effects in different subgroups of patients.

Aims: The primary purpose was to evaluate the appropriateness and interpretation of subgroup analysis performed on VTE RCTs reporting pharmacological interventions.

Prev Med Rep

October 2022

Community Activities Program in Primary Care (PACAP), Spanish Society for Family and Community Medicine (semFYC), Spain.

Health guidelines are important tools to ensure that health practices are evidence-based. However, research on how these guidelines are implemented is scarce. This integrative review aimed to: identify the literature on evaluation of public health guidelines implementation to explore (a) the topics which public health guidelines being implemented and evaluated in their implementation process are targeting; (b) how public health guidelines are being translated into action and the potential barriers and facilitators to their implementation; and (c) which methods are being used to evaluate their implementation.
