Neutrophilic dermatoses are defined as inflammatory skin diseases characterized by sterile infiltration of polymorphonuclear neutrophils into various cutaneous layers. Although, in many cases, neutrophilic dermatoses represent the cutaneous counterpart of autoinflammatory diseases, this is not always the case, and there are other causes associated with this group of diseases, such as the administration of certain drugs or an underlying tumor. However, understanding the autoinflammatory context in which most of these entities develop, as well as their close relationship with autoimmunity, is key to comprehending their pathogenesis.

Respiratory diseases and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have high prevalence and share common risk factors. In some respiratory diseases such as sleep apnoea and COPD, the evidence of their negative impact on the prognosis of CVDs seems clear. However, in other diseases it is less evident whether there is any direct relationship.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cancer among men worldwide. The main screening tool remains the prostate-specific antigen (PSA), which shows significant limitations, including poor sensitivity/specificity. Therefore, establishing accurate non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers remains an unmet clinical need in PCa.

Patients with renal graft failure can develop human leukocyte antigen (HLA) sensitization when returning to dialysis. There is no consensus on which factors could be associated with an increased risk of this kind of sensitization after graft loss. To try to identify some of these factors, a retrospective observational study was performed in our center.

Background: There is evidence that exercise may reduce the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and improve other obstetric outcomes in overweight or obese pregnant women. However, the available evidence is of low quality and inconclusive. The purpose of this study is to assess the effects of exercise, compared with usual care, in reducing GDM and other obstetric risks, in overweight and obese pregnant women.

Nowadays, consent to use donor bodies for medical education and research is obtained from the body donors and their families before the donation. Recently, the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA) published guidelines that could restrict the appearance of cadaveric images in commercial anatomical resources such as textbooks and other educational products. These guidelines state that the donor must expressly consent to using such images for this purpose.

Introduction: Mucorales infections in the airways of lung transplant (LT) patients are rare but have a rising incidence in transplanted lungs.
Objective: We present our experience with LT in immediate postoperative infections due to mucormycosis.
Methods: Review of 767 LT performed in Andalusia between 2000 and 2023 identifying Mucorales through microbiological results and histological findings.

Background: Patients with secondary acute myeloid leukemia who previously received hypomethylating agents for prior myeloid neoplasms (HMA-sAML) face a dismal prognosis.
Methods: The authors analyze the characteristics, therapeutic approaches, and outcomes of patients with HMA-sAML from the Programa Español para el Tratamiento de Hemopatías Malignas (PETHEMA) registry.
Results: A total of 479 patients were included, mostly from prior myelodysplastic syndrome (84%).

Objective: AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is a heterotrimer complex consisting of a catalytic α subunit (α1, α2) with a serine/threonine kinase domain, and two regulatory subunits, β (β1, β2) and γ (γ1, γ2, γ3), encoded by different genes. In the hypothalamus, AMPK plays a crucial role in regulating energy balance, including feeding, energy expenditure, peripheral glucose and lipid metabolism. However, most research on hypothalamic AMPK has concentrated on the catalytic subunits AMPKα1 and AMPKα2, with little focus on the regulatory subunits.

Background: Postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) after major abdominal surgery leads to poor outcomes. The Hypotension Prediction Index (HPI) may aid in managing intraoperative hemodynamic instability. This study assessed if HPI-guided therapy reduces moderate-to-severe AKI incidence in moderate-to-high-risk elective abdominal surgery patients.

Introduction: Crohn's disease (CD) varies by location, potentially affecting therapy efficacy and surgery risk, although research on this topic is conflicting. This study aims to investigate the independent association between CD location and therapeutic patterns.
Methods: We analyzed patients with CD diagnosed from January 2005 to May 2023 registered in the nationwide ENEIDA registry.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to compare the early oncological outcomes of delayed (>90 days) versus scheduled (≤90 days) radical prostatectomy (RP).
Patients And Methods: Patients with prostate cancer due to undergo surgery between March 2020 and June 2020 who were enrolled in the COVIDSurg-Cancer international, observational study were prospectively followed up for 1 year. Time to surgery was defined as the difference between the operation date and the multi-disciplinary team decision to offer surgery.

Unlabelled: Introduction y objectives: Tako-tsubo syndrome (TTS) is a cardiac condition that mimics acute coronary syndrome, characterized by transient left ventricular dysfunction in the absence of culprit coronary artery stenosis. Although its etiology remains unknown, reversible microvascular dysfunction secondary to an adrenergic surge is thought to play a role. Treatment is empirical, although most patients receive beta-blockers (BB) in clinical practice.

Female reproduction is highly sensitive to body energy stores; persistent energy deficit, as seen in anorexia or strenuous exercise, is known to suppress ovulation via ill-defined mechanisms. We report herein that hypothalamic SIRT1, a key component of the epigenetic machinery that links nutritional status and puberty onset via modulation of Kiss1, plays a critical role in the control of the preovulatory surge of gonadotropins, i.e.

Background: Granulosa cell ovarian tumors (GCTs) are a rare neoplasia characterized by a pathognomonic mutation in the FOXL2 gene. In vitro studies have demonstrated an overactivation of hormone activity due to this alteration. Thus, we aimed to determine the activity of orteronel, a CYP17 inhibitor, in advanced disease.

Breast cancer (BCa) is a highly prevalent pathological condition (̴30% in women) with limited and subtype-dependent prognosis and therapeutic options. Therefore, BCa management might benefit from the identification of novel molecular elements with clinical potential. Since splicing process is gaining a great relevance in cancer, this work analysed the expression of multiple Spliceosome Components (SCs = 17) and Splicing Factors (SFs = 26) and found a drastic dysregulation in BCa (n = 69) vs.
