Low density lipoprotein receptor related protein-1 (LRP-1) is a large ubiquitous endocytic receptor mediating the clearance of various molecules from the extracellular matrix. Several studies have shown that LRP-1 plays crucial roles during tumorigenesis functioning as a main signal pathway regulator, especially by interacting with other cell-surface receptors. Discoïdin Domain Receptors (DDRs), type I collagen receptors with tyrosine kinase activity, have previously been associated with tumor invasion and aggressiveness in diverse tumor environments.

COMPLETE REMISSION OF MEDICALLY TREATED LUTEINIZED THECOMAS WITH SCLEROSING PERITONITIS.

We describe the first French patient treated for sclerosing peritonitis syndrome associated with lutheinized thecomas. At 42 years old, she had respiratory distress with increased abdominal volume. Physical examination revealed ascites, pleural effusions, and two mobile latero-uterine masses.

Factors associated with psoriasis in a French Nationwide HIV cohort: the independent role of HLA-B*57:01.

Objective: Psoriasis is a T-cell-mediated inflammatory disease with genetic factors involved in its etiopathogenesis. In non-HIV populations, HLA-B57:01 has been associated with a higher risk of psoriasis. The aim of this study was to investigate demographic and immunovirological characteristics associated with psoriasis, and to assess whether HLA-B57:01 is associated with psoriasis among people living with HIV (PLHIV) followed in a large French multicenter Dat'AIDS cohort.

Unusual intestinal and extra intestinal findings in Crohn's disease seen on abdominal computed tomography and magnetic resonance enterography.

The magnetic resonance (MR) enterography technique has improved over the past few years to provide an excellent means of evaluating the gastrointestinal tract for suspected Crohn's disease. Although the prevalent intestinal manifestations of Crohn's disease have been extensively discussed in the radiology literature, some of its rare complications, especially extra intestinal, have received less attention. Uncommon findings that may be seen on MR enterography and abdominal CT examinations performed in patients with Crohn's disease include hepatic sinusoidal dilatation, primary sclerosing cholangitis, fistulas in unusual locations, hepatic and splenic abscesses, and spondylarthritis.

Cabazitaxel versus Abiraterone or Enzalutamide in Metastatic Prostate Cancer.

Background: The efficacy and safety of cabazitaxel, as compared with an androgen-signaling-targeted inhibitor (abiraterone or enzalutamide), in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer who were previously treated with docetaxel and had progression within 12 months while receiving the alternative inhibitor (abiraterone or enzalutamide) are unclear.

Methods: We randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, patients who had previously received docetaxel and an androgen-signaling-targeted inhibitor (abiraterone or enzalutamide) to receive cabazitaxel (at a dose of 25 mg per square meter of body-surface area intravenously every 3 weeks, plus prednisone daily and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) or the other androgen-signaling-targeted inhibitor (either 1000 mg of abiraterone plus prednisone daily or 160 mg of enzalutamide daily). The primary end point was imaging-based progression-free survival.

The current situation of toxoplasmosis in Egypt is confusing. There is no central laboratory or group of researchers actively investigating toxoplasmosis in humans or animals, and no reports on the national level are available.

French clinical guidelines for peripheral motor nerve blocks in a PRM setting.

Introduction: Motor nerve blocks with anesthetic drug for local anesthesia are commonly used in physical and rehabilitation medicine (PRM), especially in the field of spasticity. Guidelines in this context are currently lacking.

Method: Eighteen experts selected on the basis of their recognized experience by the scientific committees of the French PRM (SOFMER) and Anesthesia and Intensive care (SFAR) societies were invited to work and propose guidelines for the use of loco-regional anesthetic drug for motor nerve blocks in PRM setting.

Impact of cancer chemotherapy before ovarian cortex cryopreservation on ovarian tissue transplantation.

Differential semantic processing in patients with schizophrenia versus bipolar disorder: an N400 study.

Objective: Both bipolar disorder (BD) and schizophrenia (SZ) are associated with language and thought symptoms that probably reflect a semantic memory-related impairment. We conducted a preliminary study to explore the nature of semantic processing in these disorders, using event-related potentials (ERPs).

Methods: Twelve patients with BD, 10 patients with SZ and a matched group of 21 healthy controls (HC) underwent EEG recording while they heard sentences containing homophones or control words and performed a semantic ambiguity resolution task on congruent or incongruent targets.

Objective: Self-defining memories (SDMs) are vivid, emotionally intense and well-rehearsed autobiographical memories that provide fundamental information about one's cognitive affective motivational representation of self. In 2013, the GIHP published guidelines for the management of severe haemorrhages and emergency surgery. This update applies to patients treated with dabigatran, with a bleeding complication or undergoing an urgent invasive procedure. It includes how to handle the available specific antidote (idarucizumab), when to measure dabigatran plasmatic concentration and when to use non-specific measures in these situations.

Cytoreductive surgery (CRS), often associated with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), is now a well-recognised treatment for most peritoneal malignancies in selected patients. As imaging is frequently performed postoperatively, radiologists are increasingly confronted with postoperative multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) examinations in these cases. In this article, after briefly describing the procedures that are currently being performed for the treatment of peritoneal metastases, the normal postoperative MDCT changes that may be encountered after these procedures are described.

Detection of different classes of carbapenemases: Adaptation and assessment of a phenotypic method applied to Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii, and proposal of a new algorithm.

A new phenotypic method for detecting carbapenemases has been adapted (assembling of two MAST® kits, including one that contains faropenem to which a temocillin disk has been added) then assessed using 101 bacterial strains (Enterobacteriaceae with assays on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii) including 62 which produce genetically identified carbapenemases. Concerning Carbapenemase-Producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE), there is 100% sensitivity for Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC, Ambler class A) and OXA-48 (Ambler class D), and 91% for metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL, Ambler class B), with a 97% sensitivity for all carbapenemases, with a specificity of 100%. The test is also efficient for detecting Pseudomonas aeruginosa carbapenemases (sensitivity between 82 and 100% and 100% specificity).

Preoperative imaging and pathologic classification for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

The management of patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET), whether hormonally secretory or not, is multidisciplinary and often multimodal. Surgical treatment plays a central role because complete resection is the only potentially curative treatment. The choice of the therapeutic plan for a PNET requires precise localization of the primary tumor (which may sometimes be multiple in case of genetic predisposition), confirmation of the diagnosis of PNET, a search for metastases (mainly hepatic), and identification of the main histoprognostic factors.

Antiretroviral therapy as a risk factor for chronic kidney disease: Results from traditional regression modeling and causal approach in a large observational study.

Objective: We investigated whether patients receiving selected antiretroviral combinations had a higher risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) using traditional regression modeling and a causal approach in a large prospective cohort.

Patients And Methods: For the purpose of this study, we selected 6301 patients who (i) started their first antiretroviral regimen after 1st January 2004, (ii) had at least one serum creatinine measurement within 6 months before ART initiation (study entry), and (iii) had at least two measurements after study entry. Baseline eGFR was defined from the last serum creatinine measurement before study entry.
