Symmetrical and dissymmetrical bolaforms were prepared with good to high yields from unsaturated L-rhamnosides and phenolic esters (ferulic, phloretic, coumaric, sinapic and caffeic) using two eco-compatible synthetic strategies involving glycosylation, enzymatic synthesis and cross-metathesis under microwave activation. The plant-eliciting activity of these new compounds was investigated in Arabidopsis model plants. We found that the monocatenar rhamnosides and bolaforms activate the plant immune system with a response depending on the carbon chain length and the nature of the hydrophilic heads.

Anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy indications are broadened in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) do not provide benefits for the entire population. Texture features based on positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), especially entropy (based on a gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM)), could be interesting as predictors in NSCLC. The aim of our retrospective study was to evaluate the association between GLCM-entropy and response to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 monotherapy at the first evaluation in stage III or IV NSCLC, comparing patients with progressive disease (PD) and non-progressive disease (non-PD).

Vitamin C is one of the most sensitive cosmetic active ingredients. To avoid its degradation, its encapsulation into biobased carriers such as dendrimers is one alternative of interest. In this work, we wanted to evaluate the potential of two biobased glycerodendrimer families (GlyceroDendrimers-Poly(AmidoAmine) (GD-PAMAMs) or GlyceroDendrimers-Poly(Propylene Imine) (GD-PPIs)) as a vitamin C carrier for topical application.

The study of predictive factors for the evolution of vestibular schwannomas.

Eur Arch Otorhinolaryngol

April 2023

Department of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and Head and neck surgery of the CHU of Reims, Hôpital Robert Debré, Rue du Général Koenig, 51100, Reims, France.

Purpose: The primary objective was to determine whether the analysis of textural heterogeneity of vestibular schwannomas on MRI at diagnosis was predictive of their radiological evolutivity. The secondary objective was to determine whether some clinical or radiological factors could also be predictive of growth.

Methods: We conducted a pilot, observational and retrospective study of patients with a vestibular schwannoma, initially monitored, between April 2001 and November 2019 within the Oto-Neurosurgical Institute of Champagne Ardenne, Texture analysis was performed on gadolinium injected T1 and CISS T2 MRI sequences and six parameters were extracted: mean greyscale intensity, standard deviation of the greyscale histogram distribution, entropy, mean positive pixels, skewness and kurtosis, which were analysed by the Lasso method, using statistically penalised Cox models.

The subject of this narrative review is macrotrabecular-massive hepatocellular carcinoma (MTM-HCC). Despite their rarity, these tumours are of general interest because of their epidemiological and clinical features and for representing a distinct model of the interaction between the angiogenetic system and neoplastic cells. The MTM-HCC subtype is associated with various adverse biological and pathological parameters (the Alfa-foetoprotein (AFP) serum level, tumour size, vascular invasion, and satellite nodules) and is a key determinant of patient prognosis, with a strong and independent predictive value for early and overall tumour recurrence.

Article Synopsis
  • This study compared the effectiveness and safety of two treatment options for previously untreated follicular lymphoma: R-CHOP (rituximab with CHOP chemotherapy) and G-CHOP (obinutuzumab with CHOP chemotherapy).
  • Data from 124 patients showed no significant difference in progression-free survival between the two treatments, although G-CHOP had higher rates of hematological toxicity and infusion-related reactions.
  • The introduction of G-CHOP also led to significantly higher treatment costs, estimating an additional €30,000 per patient, suggesting no clear advantage of G-CHOP over R-CHOP in the current context.
