Background: Sexual assault (SA) can lead to a range of adverse effects on physical, sexual, and mental health, as well as on one's social life, financial stability, and overall quality of life. However, not all people who experience SA will develop negative functional outcomes. Various risk and protective factors can influence psycho-socio-judicial trajectories.

Background: IgA vasculitis (IgAV) is the most common vasculitis in children. IgAV long-term prognosis depends on kidney involvement or IgA vasculitis with nephritis (IgAVN). To date, steroid treatment (oral steroids or methylprednisolone pulses) has not proven to be formally efficient.

Introduction: The evolution of atrioventricular conduction disorders after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) remains poorly understood. We sought to identify factors associated with late (occurring ≥7 days after the procedure) high-grade atrioventricular blocks after TAVI, based on specific pacemaker memory data.
Methods And Results: STIM-TAVI (NCT03338582) was a prospective, multicentre, observational study that enrolled all patients (from November 2015 to January 2017) implanted with a specific dual chamber pacemaker after TAVI, with the SafeR algorithm activated, allowing continuous monitoring of atrioventricular conduction.

Purpose: The anti-B-cell maturation antigen BiTE molecule AMG 420 was assessed in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma.
Patients And Methods: In this first-in-human study, up to 10 cycles of AMG 420 were given (4-week infusions/6-week cycles). Patients had progression after ≥ 2 lines of prior therapy and no extramedullary disease.

Purpose: Inhibition of focal adhesion kinase has been shown to selectively kill mesothelioma cells that express low levels of moesin-ezrin-radixin-like protein (merlin). On this basis, we designed a randomized, phase II trial to investigate whether defactinib as maintenance therapy after standard first-line chemotherapy could improve progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM).
Methods: This global, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial was conducted in patients with advanced MPM and disease control after at least four cycles of first-line chemotherapy.

Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate the feasibility of vaginal hysterectomy in an ambulatory care system and the best way to perform it between conventional and bipolar vessel sealing system ligatures.
Patients And Methods: This was a prospective study of 32 patients with vaginal hysterectomy at Lille University Hospital between December 2013 and May 2015. Two surgical techniques were compared: conventional suture ligature (CSL) and electrosurgical bipolar vessel sealing (BVS).

Purpose: The goal of this study was to compare conventional X-ray defecography and dynamic magnetic resonance (MR) defecography in the diagnosis of pelvic floor prolapse of the posterior compartment.
Material And Methods: Fifty women with a mean age of 65.5 years (range: 53-72 years) who underwent X-ray defecography and MR defecography for clinical suspicion of posterior compartment dysfunction, were included in this retrospective study.

The impaired maturation of bone-forming osteoblasts results in reduced bone formation and subsequent bone weakening, which leads to a number of conditions such as osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). Transplantation of human fetal mesenchymal stem cells has been proposed as skeletal anabolic therapy to enhance bone formation, but the mechanisms underlying the contribution of the donor cells to bone health are poorly understood and require further elucidation. Here, we show that intraperitoneal injection of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (AFSCs) into a mouse model of OI (oim mice) reduced fracture susceptibility, increased bone strength, improved bone quality and micro-architecture, normalised bone remodelling and reduced TNFα and TGFβ sigalling.

Distraction of the mandibular symphysis, initially described by Guerrero, is often indicated in instances of osseous deficiency in the anterior mandible with associated tooth-jaw discrepancy. The authors describe a technique, combined with orthodontic treatment, which offers a safe and reliable alternative to avulsions and coronoplasty. Three operative techniques are outlined in detail.

Background: DNA methylation is influenced by diet and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and methylation modulates gene expression.
Objective: We aimed to explore whether the gene-by-diet interactions on blood lipids act through DNA methylation.
Design: We selected 7 SNPs on the basis of predicted relations in fatty acids, methylation, and lipids.

Health organization management is facing a high amount of complexity due to the inherent dynamics of the processes and the distributed organization of hospitals. It is therefore necessary for health care institutions to focus on this issue in order to deal with patients' requirements and satisfy their needs. The main objective of this study is to develop and implement a Decision Support System which can help physicians to better manage their organization, to anticipate the overcrowding feature, and to establish avoidance proposals for it.

Prenatal forms of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) are rare but can be recurrent in some families, suggesting a common genetic modifying background. Few patients have been reported carrying, in addition to the familial mutation, variation(s) in polycystic kidney disease 1 (PKD1) or HNF1 homeobox B (HNF1B), inherited from the unaffected parent, or biallelic polycystic kidney and hepatic disease 1 (PKHD1) mutations. To assess the frequency of additional variations in PKD1, PKD2, HNF1B, and PKHD1 associated with the familial PKD mutation in early ADPKD, these four genes were screened in 42 patients with early ADPKD in 41 families.

The splicing of the microtubule-associated protein Tau is regulated during development and is found to be deregulated in a growing number of pathological conditions such as myotonic dystrophy type I (DM1), in which a reduced number of isoforms is expressed in the adult brain. DM1 is caused by a dynamic and unstable CTG repeat expansion in the DMPK gene, resulting in an RNA bearing long CUG repeats (n>50) that accumulates in nuclear foci and sequesters CUG-binding splicing factors of the muscle blind-like (MBNL) family, involved in the splicing of Tau pre-mRNA among others. However, the precise mechanism leading to Tau mis-splicing and the role of MBNL splicing factors in this process are poorly understood.

The aim of this study is to determine prevalence, clinical significance of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) including anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL), anti-beta2GP1 and lupus anticoagulant (LA) in a cohort of 74 patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) according to revised European criteria. aPL were found in 25 (34%) patients; IgG in 23 (12 had low titres, six moderate titres and five high titres) and IgM in five (three and two had respectively moderate and high titres). Eight (11%) patients were found to have LA; anti-beta2GP1 antibodies were detected only in three (4%) patients.

The recent development of hospital information systems in France presently makes it possible to study similarity between establishments based on an official data source, the AGHN. The AGHN is based on three types of information: medical, structural (personnel and material) and economic. Using the PCA (principal component analysis) tool, we can examine the situation of one regional and\or university hospital with regards to others of the same kind.
