Background: Acute-on-chronic kidney disease (ACKD) is poorly understood and often overlooked. We studied its incidence, circumstances, determinants and outcomes in patients with CKD.
Methods: We used the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes criteria to identify all-stage acute kidney injury (AKI) events in 3033 nephrology outpatients with CKD Stages 3-5 participating in the CKD-Renal Epidemiology and Information Network cohort study (2013-20), and cause-specific Cox models to estimate hazard ratios [HRs; 95% confidence intervals (CIs)] of AKI-associated risk factors.

A few cases of hypercalcemia related to Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) have previously been described, supposedly associated with an 1α-hydroxylase enzyme-dependent mechanism. The prevalence and significance of hypercalcemia in PJP remain unclear, especially in kidney transplant recipients (KTR) who frequently display hypercalcemia via persisting hyperparathyroidism. We here retrospectively identified all microbiologically-proven PJP in adult KTR from 2005 to 2017 in the Lille University Hospital, and studied the mineral and bone metabolism parameters during the peri-infectious period.

Purpose: The hyperdivergent (high-angle forms of Class II) dentoskeletal deformities are difficult entities to treat. The purpose of this study was to describe and evaluate the use of a new surgical procedure to lower the posterior portion of the occlusal plane during a sagittal split osteotomy of the mandibular ramus, to correct a Class II malocclusion resulting from insufficient development of the mandibular ramus.
Patients And Methods: During a sagittal split osteotomy of the mandibular ramus, the pterygomasseteric sling was completely incised in 21 patients, to treat Class II malocclusion with vertical ramus deficiency.
